Apple MobileMe Review & First Experience

Now, I'd like to give my two cents on MobileMe. A little backstory first, though - I've been a Mac user for about 6 years now (I'm guessing) and have loved it. However, I always had to work on PC's (until more recently) and became addicted to Exchange and it's instant syncing ability between my Windows Mobile phone, work PC, and home PC. Switching to Mac made me really miss these features, so naturally I was stoked for the release of MobileMe.

Software Subscriptions Start to Take Shape

I’ve been looking at Microsoft’s new Equipt offering which bundles Microsoft Office Home & Student, Windows Live OneCare, Office Live Workdspace, and Windows Live Services (Mail, Messenger, and Photo Gallery) into a $70 annual subscription for 3 PCs. I’ve been using most of this solution largely by accident for several months now on my Dell One and I find it does pretty much all I want to do with a productivity package and I haven’t really even used Workspace or Photo Gallery yet. That’s a little under $6 a month for a typical house of PCs for the basics. But this got me thinking about where the future of this wi...

Clean your TV Vents!

Have you ever been watching your DLP TV and see this message come accros the screen? “TV will shut down in a few seconds. Please check if the air flow is blocked ” Not only is this a scary thing to see your TV say, but it can be confusing and sometimes hard to determine why this is happening. The reason you are getting this notice is because for some reason the lamp is getting too hot. This can cause a lot of damage if the TV does not shut down and will lead to early and costly replacemnt of your lamp. If you ever see this message the first thing to do is make sure something has not been placed in front of the air vents on your TV. On a Mitsubishi DLP TV the vents are on the lower left side of the TV. It basically looks like a screen on the side of your TV. Other models may have the air vents elsewhere. Make sure there is nothing blocking that area. If something is remove it and see if you see thiscome up again. If nothing is, then you may have a problem with dust build up...

Bill Gates' Is Gone: What Comes Next?

Bill was and is unique in this industry and changed a lot over the course of time he ran Microsoft. He started out as one of the barbarians challenging the hated status quo and eventually became a part of the new hated status quo for the following generation. He, and Microsoft, provide a cautionary tale for Google in that just as Google has positioned itself with its “do no evil” model as the anti-Microsoft, Microsoft positioned itself as the anti-IBM and eventually became much of what it didn’t like as it aged.I could spend my time talking about why that was and how to avoid it but I doubt many of you would really care and those that should listen likely wouldn’t anyway. But I’m not jaded or anythi...
