• Refreshing a brand with a new domain, with redirects pointing to it is absolutely OK, and recommended for optimization. However, that site cannot be copy-pasted over with optimized keywords and let sit and wait to be ranked.
  • Relevant, and constant content updates must be added to the site; once or twice a month, or even weekly on a blog with good external links, and page content must be refreshed and monitored periodically for performing keywords and links.
    • Every time new content is added, you grab a search engines attention, and it indexes you again and again; more frequently with increased addition of relevant content.
    • This creates influence over a topic the domain can claim, called “Domain Authority”
    • High-quality, inbound links go hand in hand with all of this new content. Anchor text to external and internal links within the copy of a blog post or permanent site page.
    • Link building becomes a necessity, and not an option for increasing search ranking. Keyword analysis will take a site only so far in optimizing content, but high-quality inbound links are the umbrella in the drink – the last ingredient that will generate indexing and higher ranking.
      • These inbound links tells search engine ‘spiders’ that the site is ‘important’ because of these referral links, and will then rank it higher in relevant searches
      • Link Building is accomplished through high-quality blogging, business directories, and social media creating a ‘viral loop’.

i do not plan to ‘sell’ this track, due to the fact that i’ve used these clips without the original artists permission. however, i do hope that the message is conveyed through my use of their work that i admire their work, and respect its cultural significance. i plan to do some more editing, and post a version without the flute music, and designate that as my ‘main’ edit, should i ever decide to sell this work.

i’m working on about 3 projects at the moment, and this one is just about complete to my liking. it’s very low quality, i’ve changed the intended BPM, and taken away some elements to this preview of a breakdown in my next track.

i’m finishing up an SEO internship at Atomic Design at the end of October, 2011. it’s been a great experience, and i’ve learned a lot; cementing my affirmation that SEO/SEM, Social Media Management & Optimization are fields i want to go into as a career. given that these are emerging fields, i’ll probably have to move sometime in the near future…

i’ve decided to move to South Florida/Miami, Florida area sometime within the next year or two. preferably, sooner than later. i feel that the area is definitely my style: it’s a big city, it’s warm, it’s latin, and it’s overall a beautiful area.

speaking of Miami, i’ve decided lately to take a hiatus from pursuing dj gigs, especially in the Rochester, NY area. i have my own reasons, some i’d like to keep to myself, but other reasons such as: i think it is a much more valuable use of my time and energy to get better at music production. it is a unique skill to possess next to all of my other skills, and i think it can take me farther. i’ve played gigs, i’ve had a residency or two, but at this point i feel that was more of a ‘college thing’, a side job to make a few extra bucks, meet people, and enjoy my college-years. i think if i ever expect to approach dj’ing and production at a ‘professional’ angle, i would have to move (Miami), and get better at production…

i have a few productions projects that i am working on at the moment…ever so slowly. a couple experiments from a few months back i decided to dust off and give another go with, and a couple fresh new projects. i am mainly experimenting with genres at the moment, and learning techniques for mixing different genre ‘styles’. i am also going to be ‘re-mastering’ a remix i did last year for a friend that really wants to play it out…so keep an ear out for that.

also, i plan on bringing this blog to life as a whole and post on interesting topics on everything from dj’s, seo and social media, to new production hardware, dj tools, or just my general thoughts on topics of interest to me.

my podcast is going to be revamped with voice-overs and 30-minute guest mixes, and i am going to be ditching the old ‘monthly’ episode system. i get too busy to collect music, narrow them down, and mix them into a podcast perfectly every month. the next episode will start and #1…and go from there! some will be mixed live (beatmatched), and some will be ‘studio’ mixed in ableton, for time convenience. i know, and everyone else knows i can beatmatch, and i have plenty of episodes online right now that are all beatmatched, so any argument against an ableton mix is pointless to me by now.

as far as my podcast goes, i’m also going to be renaming it and going with a new theme, closer to my interests…details to come!

so lastly, now that i’ve about shut down my previous entrepreneurial project with The Rochester Entertainment & Music Group, finished college at Rochester Institute of Technology, about to finish my internship at Atomic Design, and have decided to set aside dj gigs (for now), what else is left to do?

i am going to be starting a small, project based business in personal brand management. i haven’t finished a business plan just yet, but i feel that as a new college graduate in a struggling economy, project-based, freelance work is the way to go – aside from my part-time or full-time ‘day job’. as i get plans for that set up, i’ll be in the process of rebranding myself as a whole. what better way to show potential customers i can help them out with their personal brand management than to show them i can do it well for myself? so with that, expect some minor changes around my site, and my accompanying social networks. i look forward to coming changes in my professional and artistic career and i am only getting started.

This took me a long time to conceptualize, and decide what direction I wanted to go with. I heard this clip surfing through youtube (http://youtu.be/54AGF1Xtbek?hd=1) and fell in love with India Martinez’ voice. I know nothing of the artist, or even the original artist, Antonio Molina who wrote the lyrics she is singing. While producing the track, I researched these two artists and appreciated the emotion and passion with which she is singing in this clip. Rather than take a pre-recorded sample, I chose the live acapella to capture that emotion, in the moment.

Also, I am big Stereo Productions/Chus & Ceballos fan, and I’ve essentially re-invented myself to pursue the ‘Iberican Sound’. I’ve seen them live several times, and I’ve never seen anything like it. The positive, organic energy, the drums, and the cultural sounds do something to make people dance and smile like I seldom see for other artists. If imitation is the best form of flattery, I’ve taken parts from “DJ Chus & Stereo Productions: 10 Years of Iberican Grooves”, and some original sounds to create my own interpretation of the “Iberican Sound” using this fantastic sample.
