The Message of the Messengers

Allah, the all Wise, all Knowledgeable, all Merciful and all Just created this Universe in order to test and examine His obedient slaves and reward them, and to punish the disobedient. He says: “We did not create the heavens and the earth and all that is between them in play. We did not create them except for a true purpose (to test and examine who are obedient, and to reward them, and who are disobedient and punish them), but most of them do not know.” [Al Quran Chapter adh-Dhukkhan (44): 38-39]

Allah also made clear the main goal for the creation of mankind saying: “I did not create Jinn and Mankind except for My worship” [Al Quran Chapter adh-Dharia (56): 56]

The Prophet Muhammad a mercy for all creation

Indeed, in this [Quran] is notification for a worshipping people. And We have not sent you, [O Muhammad (P.B.U.H)], except as a mercy to the worlds. (Quran: 21:106-107)

Allah's Messenger was the kindest of men in the same way as he excelled all others in courage and valour. Being extremely kind-hearted, his eyes brimmed with tears at the slightest sign of inhumanity. A Companion, Shaddaad bin 'Aws reported the Apostle as saying: "Allah has commanded you to show kindness to everyone, so if you have to kill, kill in a good manner, and if you slaughter an animal, slaughter it gently. If anyone of you has to slay an animal, he should sharpen the blade first and treat the animal well." Ibn 'Abbas relates that a man threw a goat on its side and then started sharpening his knife. When the Prophet saw him he said: "Do you want to kill it twice? Why did you not sharpen the knife before throwing it on the ground?"

We Believe in Jesus (PBUH)

VIRGIN MARY

The story of Jesus (peace be upon him) in the Noble Quran starts with the conception of his mother, Mary, when the wife of Imran, Mary’s mother, vowed to dedicate her child to the worship of Allah in the Temple. This is mentioned in the verses (which are translated as follows):

“When the wife of Imran said: ‘O my Lord! I dedicate to you what is in my womb for your service. So accept this of me. Indeed you are the All-Hearing (and) All-Knowing.’ When she was delivered of her, she said: ‘I have delivered a female child – and Allah knew best what she brought forth – and the male is not as the female. And I have named her Mary, and I seek refuge with You for her and her offspring from Satan, the outcast.’ So her Lord accepted her with kind acceptance and made her grow in a good manner, and entrusted her to the care of Zakariya. Whenever Zakariya entered upon her in the sanctuary, he found her with food. He said: ‘O Mary! From where comes to you this (food)?’ She said: ‘It is from Allah. Indeed Allah provides sustenance to whom He wills, without measure’.” [Quran 3:35-37]

The Most Influential Persons in History

My choice of Muhammad to lead the list of the world's most influential persons may surprise some readers and may be questioned by others, but he was the only man in history who was supremely successful on both the religious and secular levels.

Of humble origins, Muhammad founded and promulgated one of the world's great religions, and became an immensely effective political leader. Today, thirteen centuries after his death, his influence is still powerful and pervasive. The majority of the persons in this book had the advantage of being born and raised in centers of civilization, highly cultured or politically pivotal nations. Muhammad, however, was born in the year 570, in the city of Mecca, in southern Arabia, at that time a backward area of the world, far from the centers of trade, art, and learning. Orphaned at age six, he was reared in modest surroundings. Islamic tradition tells us that he was illiterate. His economic position improved when, at age twenty-five, he married a wealthy widow. Nevertheless, as he approached forty, there was little outward indication that he was a remarkable person. Most Arabs at that time were pagans, who believed in many gods. There were, however, in Mecca, a small number of Jews and Christians; it was from them no doubt that Muhammad first learned of a single, omnipotent God who ruled the entire universe.

Messengers of God

Similar to other religions such as Judaism and Christianity, prophethood is an important concept in Islam. If the unity of Allah (tawheed) constitutes the ideological foundation of Islam, the concept of man’s khilafah, or vicegerency, provides the operational framework for understanding the Islamic view of the creation of human beings and their purpose.

The story of Adam and Eve is found in most religious and major cultural traditions. The way the Quran narrates this event is crucial to the understanding of the Islamic worldview.
