Leave it to Zeds Dead, to be able to remix almost any track imaginable. The Canadian duo has earned quite a reputation for their amazing remixes of songs spreading across nearly every genre of music. This time Dylan Mamid and Zach Rapp-Rovan give their take on the classic Nina Simone song “Don’t Let Me Be Misunderstood.” The track has a bit of a fast paced drum n bass feel, yet it still maintains the smooth vocals from the original track. The song has been dropped in a few of their recent sets including at Spring Awakening in Chicago this past weekend. Released today, “Don’t Let Me Be Misunderstood,” is an incredible track that combines the best aspects of two very different sides of the music spectrum.

A video of “This Is What It Feels Like” was put up on Armada Music’s Youtube page the other day, and it’s quite unique.  It’s not Armin, but rather Trevor Guthrie performing an acoustic version of the song in what looks to be his house.  It’s a pretty neat video, and a really cool take on Armin’s and Trevor’s massive single.  No longer present are the complex synths and buildups found in the original; they have been replaced with a guitar, piano, and some drums, and that’s about it.  Well, that and Trevor running around his house in an attempt to find a xylophone and play some notes on it. The video is well done and entertaining, and the performance is amazing, especially if you are a fan of the original.  It is always refreshing to see a version of a trounce song like this.  It reminds us all about the connection between all genres of music, and how even collaborations between Trance Gods (Armin) and former boy band lead singers (Trevor Guthrie used to be the lead singer of a pop group named soulDecision, crazy right?)  can lead to some amazing music.  Check out the video below.

Some of the world’s richest and most prominent celebrities are common guests at Las Vegas’s hottest nightclubs. Signs of excessive wealth and bar tabs that far exceed our annual income are nothing out of the ordinary. But the story you’re about to hear, reaches a level that will be sure to blow your mind. Recently, at a nightclub in Las Vegas, one wealthy man committed to ordering a $250,000 bottle of champagne so long as the DJ performing played a single track that he had requested. Ed Shapiro is the source of this information. Shapiro is the most active transactional lawyer for superstar DJs on the strip. He is responsible for the signing of $30 million in contracts for EDM artists in Vegas this year.

Shapiro, who represents artists such as Kaskade and Above and Beyond, refused to share the name of the club. the person who made the request, or the DJ performing. Several rumors are floating around that Marquee nightclub was the site of the transaction, but that has yet to be confirmed. Shapiro did however, share some details of the story. After a request made by the unnamed celebrity, a club representative approached the DJ performing and said, “I would never ask you this, but we have a gentleman who has got a table with a fairly large entourage with him. If you spin this one song … he will buy a $250,000 bottle of champagne.” The DJ was handed a USB drive with the song on it. He knew he wasn’t going to get a cut of the profits, but he figured that it would be in the best interest of future contract negotiations if he were to find a way to fit it in his set. He did exactly that, and the club got their $250,000.

This was just the beginning of the purchases for the wealthy guest. Shapiro mentioned that the subject of the story, “bought something like another 30 bottles for the whole place.”

So, any guesses as to what the quarter million dollar song was?

C-Systems may not be the regular household name that you hear in the trance world but the duo, consisting of Akki Hisham from Norway and Matt Allen from the UK, definitely has what it takes to be up there with the big boys. C-Systems is a relatively new project that started in 2011 and although Akki and Matt may not have always worked in the field of progressive/house music (Matt was a classically trained composer/pianist and Akki actually started off as a hip-hop producer), their diverse music background allows them to put together already a number of beautiful melodic tracks such as To Be and Love Is Strong, as well as their remix of Ozo Effy’s Eve (if you haven’t heard this yet, get a copy of this amazing remix).

C-Systems have teamed up again this time with Hanna Finsen, a Norwegian vocalist who seems to be C-Systems’ designated vocalist, to come up with Listen To The Wind, a highly melodic track with stunning and addictive vocals. Nicky Romero first debuted his new collab track “Legacy” alongside of Krewella in Miami at Ultra Music Festival. Ever since Ultra, fans have been waiting for a preview of the track to be released.  The track definitely has the potential to be a huge hit with the surefire synths, drops and catchy vocals. Krewella’s Jahan and Yasmine have been lending vocals on quite a few tracks but it’s this one that fans have been buzzing about. With the rising popularity of both Nicky Romero and the trio Krewella, this track is surely going to be a favorite this summer.
