Detroit Lions Forum • Another arrest for Detroit's Nick Fairley

Lions defensive tackle Nick Fairley, who was arrested in April for marijuana possession, was arrested early Sunday morning for driving under the influence and attemping to elude police, according to Fox 10 in Mobile (AL).

Fairley ties running back Mikel LeShoure for most offseason arrests, but Johnny Culbreath was also arrested this offseason. All three of LeShoure and Culbreath's arrests were marijuana-related charges.

All three players were drafted by the Lions in 2011: Fairley (first round), LeShoure (second) and Culbreath (seventh). Oh, and one of the other two draft picks from last year, Titus Young, is suspended from offseason workouts for sucker-punching safety Louis Delmas.

Cincinnati Bengals Forum • A.J. Green says Mohamed Sanu is going to "special"

What Bengals wide receiver A.J. Green did as a rookie was impressive.

With no offseason, a fellow rookie quarterback and a first year offensive coordinator, Green became the first 1,000-yard rookie receiver since Marques Colston did it back in 2006.

[Of course, if Atlanta's Julio Jones had stayed healthy for 16 games, he would have likely finished with 1,000 yards last year as well.]

When asked by Dan Hoard of Bengals.com, Green was very complimentary of new teammate and rookie receiver Mohamed Sanu, who slipped to the Bengals in the third round.

“Man, that guy is smooth,” said Green. “He works the middle really well. A lot of people have questioned his speed, but the guy has ‘football speed.’ It’s just like myself. A lot of people say that he didn’t run the fastest, but you see him on the field and he’s fluid in-and-out of his breaks, he catches everything with his hands, and he attacks the ball. He’s going to be a special one.”

Sanu had 115 receptions, fourth in college football, for 1,206 yards and seven touchdowns with Rutgers last season.

Lions tight end Brandon Pettigrew just missed a 300 bowling game, according to DetroitLions.com.

“It kind of got quiet after eight or nine frames,” said Pettigrew. “I tried to focus in a little bit not to get too serious, but on the last ball I was flustered a little bit.”

Impressive.

Pittsburgh Steelers Forum • Mendenhall says it's a "possibility" he's ready for Week 1

Rashard Mendenhall's new year got off on the wrong foot, somewhat literally, as he tore his ACL in Week 17 on January 1st.

While most assume that he won't play in the team's season opener against the Broncos (see Steelers' schedule), Mendenhall's not ruling that out just yet.

“There’s always the possibility,” Mendenhall said Wednesday, per Scott Brown of the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review. “I’ll be back at some point. It’s just a matter of what point that is.”

Mendenhall, who's in the final year of his rookie contract, has been running and cutting.

It seems much more likely, however, that Mendenhall starts the season on the PUP list and misses (at least) the first six games than it is that he will ready for Week 1.

Compared to just a few weeks ago, several teams have seen their Super Bowl XVLII odds change at SportsBook.com.

Interestingly enough, however, the majority of changes were to lower the odds as only two teams saw their odds to win the Super Bowl increase.

Orlando Magic Forum • Magic willing to trade Dwight Howard

After parting ways with coach Stan Van Gundy and general manager Otis Smith, center Dwight Howard is next, according to SheridanHoops.

A plugged-in league source tells SheridanHoops.com that the feeling is mutual, and Orlando is prepared to trade him sooner rather than later.

The source said that when Magic team president traveled to Michigan last weekend to speak in person with owner Rich DeVos, the conclusion was reached that not only was it time for Stan Van Gundy and Otis Smith to go, but Howard, too.

That means the Magic will be proactive in soliciting deals once next week’s draft lottery results are in, clearing up the lay of the land in terms of which teams can offer the most value in return.

Last offseason, Bryant was in the news mostly for the wrong reasons (i.e., getting banned from shopping malls, not paying jewelers, etc.).

With no lockout, things appear to be going much better for the gifted wideout this offseason.

"I see a big change in my weight, in my strength and everything," Bryant said, per Jon Machota of Fox Sports Southwest. "Coach Woicik's doing a great job with us. I feel way more explosive coming out of my cuts."

"Each year I got better, from one to two, and I haven't played this year yet but I already feel much better. I'm confident in what I'm doing. When the coach calls out the play, I'm starting to have the play before he even calls it out. I'm getting better."

Bryant had 63 receptions for 928 yards and nine touchdowns in 15 games last year. The injury impacted his conditioning, which showed up in his first-half-versus-second-half splits: 37-558-7 (before halftime) and 26-370-2 (after halftime).

If he stays healthy and lives up to his potential, Bryant, the No. 15 receiver in our early fantasy rankings, can be a top-five receiver in the league.
