Steven N. Siegler, ASA, International Chairman of Appraisal Review and Management for the American Society of Appraisers, successfully represented Stephen M. Case, co-founder of AOL and former chairman of AOL Time Warner, in the multi-billion dollar lawsuit against Mr. Case in the Grove Farm matter in Hawaii. Mr. Siegler’s appraisal review expert witness testimony and litigation support services helped defeat the appraisal services and expert witness testimony of several noted Hawaii real estate experts and the appraisal review and expert witness testimony of the plaintiff’s lead appraisal expert, Dr. John A. Kilpatrick, Ph.D., of Greenfield Advisors.

Steven N. Siegler, International Chairman of Appraisal Review and Management (ARM) of the American Society of Appraisers (ASA), announced today that Dr. Shannon Pratt (United States of America), Mr. Chengjun Wang (Peoples Republic of China) and Mr. Hakob Sarkissian (Russia) have received the highest honor offered by the ARM discipline. These individuals are regarded by their international colleagues as pioneers of modern valuation concepts and practices and as pillars in and to the global valuation profession and we are honored to have them join ARM’s ranks. Each individual brings great honor to his country, ARM and the ASA, and the worldwide valuation community.

These storied individuals will be honored at separate events at the ASA’s International Appraisal Conference in Minneapolis in August. Ernst & Young and American Appraisal will host an awards dinner honoring these deserving individuals on Sunday, August 3. Luminaries from throughout the global valuation community will attend.

Emerson Electric Co., the global manufacturing and technology giant, has acquired Southwest Engineers of Louisiana, Inc. (SWE) Equity Development Systems, Ltd. (EDS) acted as mergers and acquisition advisor to Southwest Engineers. Steven N. Siegler, Managing Director of EDS’ M&A advisory group led EDS’ team of transactional lawyers and accountants in handling the sale of SWE to Emerson. Mr. Siegler states, “This is truly a win-win transaction, Emerson is a terrific company with excellent management and SWE affords them tremendous opportunity to grow Emerson’s Network Power Services.”

Stephen M. Pickens will head Equity Development Systems, Ltd. San Francisco-based pacific rim investment banking, lending compliance and credit analysis operations. Mr. Pickens has over 25 years experience underwriting and managing both debt and equity transactions over a wide range of market spaces including technology, clean tech and life science. He has been responsible for functional operational components of several major lending organizations both regulated and unregulated. Some of these functions in addition to underwriting have included asset management, billing, legal oversight and outside equity/debt raises and placement.

Mr. Pickens was VP of Finance for a finance subsidiary of Aon a well known insurance company. Later he became Chief Credit Officer of an ABN backed environmental finance fund and VP and Manager of the Mellon USL syndication department which booked on average over $400MM per year in transactions. Recently he managed the life science portfolio of a subsidiary company of Sumitomo.
