A cause that impacts so many across the nation.Eddie Gonzalez Loumiet shared thisWith June 1 being the start of National CPR and AED Awareness Week, this is the perfect time for me to announce my next American Heart Association initiative here in Tallahassee & the Big Bend - Hard Hats with Heart! ❤️ Heart disease remains the leading cause of death in the U.S., with construction workers facing an elevated risk due to long hours, high stress, poor nutrition, high tobacco use, and the lack of heart-strengthening exercise. In fact, 343,000 construction workers (1 in 25) have already been diagnosed with cardiovascular disease. Hard Hats with Heart is an industry-specific initiative from the American Heart Association dedicated to improving the cardiovascular health of those working within the construction industry. The campaign’s focus is to equip our community with tools to create safer working environments where healthy habits are adopted, where workers feel confident to perform CPR, and where more lives are saved. And now for the FUN part... 📅 SAVE THE DATE for Tuesday, October 27. 📅 We'll celebrate our Hard Hats campaign with a fun and exciting networking event & cornhole tournament with the who’s who of the Tallahassee and Big Bend construction industry. There are three award categories for nomination: Leader of the Year: Awarded to an individual whose ideas, vision, and hard work achieved significant, tangible benefits to the community within the past year. Such work could include a focus on a particular initiative or project that improved the quality of life of Tallahasseeans. Servant Leadership: This individual has demonstrated consistent community leadership and begun to achieve results beyond a single field of endeavor, combining efforts in business and nonprofit organizations. Over the past several months, Michael has met with business leaders, educators, public officials, and community voices across Tallahassee and Leon County. He's heard from those building companies, those training talent, and those working every day to strengthen this community. He's also drawn from my experience leading chambers in Naples, Florida, Columbus, Ohio, and other markets where similar questions about growth and alignment have shaped the future of a region. What he's heard here has been consistent. Tallahassee has the right ingredients. But we are not yet working from a shared recipe for success.

Eddie Gonzalez Loumiet liked thisEddie Gonzalez Loumiet liked thisToday is a very special day for our family as we celebrate our son Danny’s 8th grade graduation from Palmer Trinity School. Like many parents, Cristy and I are incredibly proud of his academic achievements. Over the past year, we have watched him mature as a student, grow in confidence, and develop into a thoughtful young man. His creativity and artistic expression have flourished, and we continue to be amazed by his talent on the piano, his dedication to his craft, and his remarkable ability to memorize and perform complex pieces of music. But this milestone carries a deeper meaning for us. There was a time when we were not certain this day would come. Danny faced life threatening blood clots and challenges that no child should ever have to endure. Through it all, he demonstrated a level of courage, resilience, grace, and poise that inspired everyone around him. While we often celebrate accomplishments, it is his character in the face of adversity that makes us most proud. Today is not simply the completion of an academic chapter. It is a reminder of the gift of life itself. It is a reminder to live one day at a time, to cherish every moment, and to never take tomorrow for granted. Our family gives thanks to God for His many blessings and for watching over Danny throughout his journey. We are deeply grateful to the extraordinary physicians, nurses, and medical professionals who cared for him, the teachers who with patience and grace challenged and guided him, the instructors who nurtured his creativity, and the friends and family whose love, encouragement, and prayers carried us through difficult moments. Most of all, we are grateful for Danny. We are excited for all that lies ahead as he begins the next chapter of his journey in high school. The future is bright, and we cannot wait to see where his talents, determination, faith, and imagination take him. Congratulations, Danny. Business leaders know we need to do better
The latest data shows Florida’s kindergarten readiness rate sitting at 50%. This means nearly 90,000 children entering the K-12 system are deemed “unready,” and already falling behind at a critical time in their learning and development. Research tells us it’s difficult to catch up, so we need to do a better job of supporting children and families in the early years.
The Florida Chamber Foundation tracks this data on the Florida Scorecard and recently released new data showing that Florida's economy loses nearly $5.4 billion annually due to child care issues for working parents -

of the seventh annual Golden A.C.E awards at a ceremony held April 27, 2019 at the GFWC
Women’s Club in Tallahassee, FL. This prestigious event was held to recognize the top young
professionals living in Tallahassee that exemplify authentic community engagement, or A.C.E.
“These awards celebrate the young, undiscovered, emerging leaders who are making a difference in
our beloved city,”…Tallahassee, Fla. – The Tallahassee Network of Young Professionals (NYP) announced the winners
of the seventh annual Golden A.C.E awards at a ceremony held April 27, 2019 at the GFWC
Women’s Club in Tallahassee, FL. This prestigious event was held to recognize the top young
professionals living in Tallahassee that exemplify authentic community engagement, or A.C.E.
“These awards celebrate the young, undiscovered, emerging leaders who are making a difference in
our beloved city,” said Kelli Gemmer, president of the Tallahassee Network of Young Professionals.
“Their passion and dedication help make Tallahassee a city where young professionals choose to
live, work, play, and stay.”
Mayor John Dailey awarded the highest recognition of Top A.C.E. to Britney Smith, public
information and communications manager with the Leon County Government. Aside from cohosting the annual Created Equal Event, she is involved with Big Brothers Big Sisters and Junior
Woman’s Club of Midtown. She is an active mentor for Junior Achievement in both Godby and
Rickards High School. She is also a professional mentor in the Capital Area Community Action
Agency’s Getting Ahead Program and board member of the Innovative Community Engagement
(ICE) Foundation.
As the Top A.C.E. winner, Britney selected the Jayda Dionne Parker Scholarship Committee as her
charity of choice to receive a $1,000 donation from NYP, a cause close to her heart. Jayda, a college
friend, died from cancer in December 2013 but with Britney's help, her memory lives on. Jayda’s
parents established a scholarship fund for which Britney helps raise awareness and funds.
