At the end of last year, I had said that we are starting to phase out of using the blog. We will be sending out bi-weekly newsletters by email. The blog is still active, but we will be posting our newsletters to the school website and utilizing that through out the year. Mr. Waldie sent out a letter this morning so you can check your emails for that if you have not done so already.

Thank you for your support and working with us as we navigate through yet another crazy year. One thing that remains the same is we are here to educate and encourage your amazing kids! We are looking forward to seeing them Monday morning!

Thank you for a wonderful 2020-21 school year.  This year has certainly been challenging in many ways, but it has also been so incredibly rewarding.

We will be sending home / mailing report cards next week Friday, June 11.  Please remember that we will not be providing placement information for the 2021-22 school year with these report cards.  Due to potential fluctuations in numbers and the possibility of staff movement within the district we will send this information out later this summer.  I am hopeful that we will be able to provide this sooner than last year, but rest assured that we will get it to you as soon as we are given the green light.

Our grade level teams have worked to create class supply lists for each grade level that will be applicable regardless of a student’s teacher assignment.  For those of you that hope to shop before lists are released, please utilize the lists linked here:  Kindergarten, First Grade, Second Grade, Third Grade, Fourth Grade, Fifth Grade.

Here is the link which was shared out last week to information about and an invitation to an optional parent meeting regarding the district’s reasons for and plans moving forward regarding DEIB (Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging). Please check out that link and register for that meeting if you’re interested.

I know that I will communicate again before the 2021-22 school year begins, but just to put some dates in your calendar, our first student day will be Monday, August 23. The first four days of school will be ½ day / Early Release days. There will be no school on Friday, August 27.

Just a heads up, we will not be using this blog next year. We will be sending out our bi weekly updates to your email. There will be more about this coming home as we get closer to starting school. Thank you for everything you did for us as a staff and for your children to help us navigate through this year! We hope you have a wonderful summer and enjoy your time off!

It has been asked a few times if we have school on Friday and the answer is Yes. We will be here on Friday. We only have Monday the 31st off. Hope you all have a fun holiday weekend!

Blog Bits 5/21/21

News From the Office…

We are happy to say that we have completed the MSTEP! That is always a good feeling! The kids did amazing as they have all year given what a crazy year it was! Just a reminder that if your child has medication, whether it by over the counter or prescription in the office, to please pick it up by the last day of school. We dispose of anything left at the health department at the end of every school year. We are quickly approaching the end of the year. We have Monday May 31 off for Memorial Day and our last day is a half day on Friday, June 4.

I am attaching a calendar for next school year so you have it for getting your calendar ready.

Lastly, we want to thank Audrey Straub for so many years of serving as president on the PTC! She took such good care of everyone at Georgetown and we appreciate her so much! Also thank you to everyone that served on the PTC, a committee, or just helped out in any way this year!! We appreciate you so much!

The last PTC meeting was rescheduled and will be held Thursday, May 27 at 6:30 on the lawn outside at Georgetown.

5th Grade News…

• On Thursday, June 3, fifth-grade students will have an extended day camp experience at CranHill Ranch.
  • Students can take their normal mode of transportation to school in the morning.
  • The estimated arrival back to school will be around 9:00 PM.
  • Due to COVID-19 restrictions, we are not allowed to bring parent chaperones.

Just an end of the year reminder about medication. If your child has any meds at school (prescription or over the counter) , they must be picked up by the last day of school. Anything left after the last day will be disposed of by the health department. Thank you!!

The PTC meeting originally scheduled for this week Thursday will be canceled and rescheduled for next week Thursday. It is now May 27 at 6:30 and will be outside in the lawn weather permitting.

Tonight is a Jet‘s Pizza Night!  Place an order with Jet‘s and they will generously donate a portion back to our school! It’s a win win!! Make it an easy dinner night and help out Georgetown too! Let them know who your child’s teacher is when you order and the class with the most orders wins a pizza party as well!  Have a good night!

News From the Office…

We are happy to report that 5th grade has completed the MSTEP and they were amazing! 3rd and 4th grade are half done and we will be finishing them up next week! The schedule is as follows…..

Please be mindful to not schedule appointments for your kids on their testing days if at all possible! Also make sure your child gets good sleep, arrives to school on time, and brings a water bottle. ***** Please note that if your child is ill, we will administer the tests on a make-up date.  Do not send your child to school not feeling well*****

Next Early Release…

Our next early release is on May 21. We will be dismissing at 12:15 on May 21. If your child is a car rider, please be at school between 12:10 and 12:15 for pick up.  Food Service will be offering a sack lunch on early release days. Children can order a lunch with their teacher in the morning and will have them to take to their destination.

5th Grade News…

May 5-12 – 5th grade scheduling window will open in PowerSchool. Students will independently put their 6th grade class selections into PowerSchool and will turn in the completed pink hard copy to their teacher. The students will be getting instructions and seeing videos about this in class. Please watch the teacher’s blogs as more information will become available.
