Revised revaluation procedure - ANNA UNIVERSITY

With effect from 02/01/2014, the revaluation procedure for AU exams has been revised.

OLD PROCEDURE:
1) The students pay for revaluation (Rs. 400/subject) (or) for revaluation cum photocopy (Rs. 700/subject ).
2) Revaluation results are published
3) Sill if they are not satisfied, those students who applied for revaluation cum photocopy can apply for review (Rs.3000/subject).

NEW PROCEDURE:
1) Students who wish to apply for revaluation should first apply for photocopy (Rs. 300/subject).
2) After receiving the photocopy, verify for any discrepancy through a subject expert.
3) If the subject expert is convinced that the paper deserves higher marks, then the student can apply for revaluation (Rs. 400/subject).
4) Sill if they are not satisfied, they can apply for review (Rs.3000/subject). There is no change in procedure for applying review.

SO, WHATS THE MAJOR DIFFERENCE:
This is a smart move by Anna University to reduce the no. of application for revaluation of answer script. Earlier photocopy was optional, so at Rs. 400 you could apply for revaluation of a subject. But now, with photocopy being made compulsory, the overall cost is Rs. 700/subject. In this way, the no. of applications for revaluation will be reduced, which will reduce the burden on the university and ultimately result in better evaluation of answer scripts. Exam Checklist - Things you should never forget while entering the examination hall

Everyone of us want to be very careful and not end up forgetting & leaving behind something before entering the exam hall. But the tense situation, pressure, last-minute revisions are so demanding that we often tend to forget something. All most, everyone of us should have been in this kind of a situation sometime. But you need not worry about it, because its not bad to forget, but its bad to keep forgetting. Here EEEcube has compiled a list of items that you might want to take inside the exam hall.

Which calculator is allowed in Anna University exams?

Which calculator is allowed for use in Anna University exams? This is the most common doubt among many students. Anna University rules states that

"The use of mathematical instruments while answering the papers in relevant subject is allowed. Such instruments will not be supplied by the University. Only Scientific calculators are allowed. No programmable calculators, cell phones, pagers are allowed"

The most commonly used CASIO calculators are fx-991MS, fx-991ES, fx-100MS, fx-350MS. All these calculators are non-programmable. So you are free to use the above models.

Many students get confused with fx-991MS and fx-991ES. The only major difference between the two is that while 991ES supports Matrix operation, 991MS does not. But that does not make it a programmable calculator.

How to identify a programmable calculator? It allows you to store formula in the memory. A programmable calculator will have buttons like 'IF' 'P1' 'P2' 'P3' etc., Mostly, the model no. of programmable calculators in CASIO will end with the letter P. (Eg: fx-502P)

Know the rules - Nature of Malpractice and corresponding punishments

The students are warned to desist from doing any kind of malpractice during examinations. If anyone indulges in malpractice, the students is likely to be debarred from Examination or even expelled from the Degree Programme. The nature of malpractice and the minimum punishment are indicated in the table. In extreme cases, action may include debarring of officials of examinations.

Nature of Malpractice	Punishment
Appeal for a favourable consideration or mercy in the answer book	Cancellation of the examination of the particular paper.
Writings on the desk relevant to the examinations.
Writings on any part of the body
Verbal or oral communication to neighbouring candidate.
Irrelevant writings in the answer book.
Possession of any incriminating materials inside the examination hall (whether used or not).For example:-Written or printed materials, bits, writings on scale. Calculator, handkerchief, Hall Ticket, possession of organizer etc.	Cancellation of all Theory examinations (all papers – current and arrear) registered during the examination session like April / May or Oct. / Nov.
Vulgar writings in the answer book
Copying from neighbour.
Possession of answer book of another candidate.
Giving answer book to another candidate.
Exchange of Question papers and other materials with some answers.
Appeal in the examination answer book coupled with a promise of any form of consideration.	Cancellation of all Theory examinations (all papers – current and arrears) registered and further debarred from writing all examinations (current and arrear) in the subsequent semester.
Misbehavior in the examination hall (Disobedience, unruly conduct in the examination hall, threatening the Hall Superintendent / Chief Superintendent and other examination officials).
Involved in Malpractice for the second or subsequent times.	Cancellation of all Theory examinations (all papers – current and arrears) and further debarred from continuing his studies for one year (i.e.) two subsequent semesters. However the student is permitted to appear for the examination in all the arrear subjects up to the last semester during the debarred period.
Cases of Impersonation	Handing over the Impersonator to the police with a complaint to take appropriate action against the person involved in the impersonation by the Chief Superintendent.
	Cancellation of all examinations (all papers – current and arrear) appeared and further debarred from continuing his studies and writing all examinations for 2 years.
	If a student of this University is found to impersonate a ‘Bonafide Student’, the impersonating student also will be debarred from continuing his studies and writing all examination for 2 years.

Writing of name of the candidate in the answer book by the candidate, writing of Reg. No. / College Name in places other than specified in the answer book by the candidate and any special marking in the answer script by the candidate is also punishable.

Anna University rules for University Examination

Rules to be followed by students appearing in Anna University examinations:

Admission to the Examination is provisional
The Hall Ticket is issued subject to the candidate satisfying the Attendance and the other requirements as per rules, regulations and instructions issued by the University from time to time. If later, it is found that the candidate fails to comply with the above requirements, the examinations the candidate has taken will be treated as cancelled.
Candidates shall not be allowed to leave the examination hall before the expiry of 45 minutes from the commencement of examination. No candidate who leaves the examination hall during the period allotted for a paper will be allowed to re-enter the hall within that period.
Candidates suffering from infectious diseases of any kind shall not be admitted to examination hall.
Candidates are strictly prohibited from smoking inside the examination hall.
Strict silence should be maintained in the examination hall
Candidates are required to bring their own pens, pencils, and eraser. Candidates should use only blue or black ink while answering their papers.
Before proceeding to answer the paper, the candidate should write his/her register number, semester, subject and date of the examination at the appropriate space provided in the first page of the answer book and nowhere else in the answer book or in any additional attachment.
If a candidate writes his/her register number on any part of the answer book/sheets or on any space other than the one provided for or puts any special mark or writes anything which may disclose, in anyway, the identity of the candidate/ college, he/she will render himself/herself liable for disciplinary action.
Writing of wrong register number in answer book will entail rejection of the answer book.
Candidates are not allowed to exceed the prescribed time assigned to each paper
Candidates shall not talk/ask questions of any kind during the examination.
Candidates shall not take any written/printed matter, any paper material, cell phone, programmable calculator , any unauthorized data sheet/table into the examination hall and if found in possession of any such material in the examination hall during the examination hours, those candidates shall be liable for disciplinary action.
No candidates shall pass any part or whole of answer papers or question papers to any other candidate. No candidate shall allow another candidate to copy form his/her answer paper or copy from the answer paper of another candidate. If found committing such malpractice, the involved candidates shall be liable for disciplinary action.
Candidates found guilty of using unfair means of any nature shall be liable for disciplinary action.
Candidates will have to hand over the answer books to the Invigilator/Chief Superintendent before leaving the examination hall.
Candidates should produce the hall ticket on demand by the Invigilator/Chief Superintendent /AUR/Squad members

12 Tips for effectively utilizing study holidays

Hello EEEcube users, the end-semester exams are nearing. Now most/all of you should be having your study holidays. I came across this nice article which I feel will be useful for you in planning your study holidays. Its very practical. Just go through it, feel free to add your ideas or any comments below.

Every student will get afraid of the exams. Even the brightest student will get afraid when the exam days nearing. I am going to provide you the tips to utilize the study holidays before the exam starts. Every university will provide some time to prepare for the exams before the exam starts. It may be one week or two week or some time it may be one month. If you utilized the study holidays you don’t want to get afraid of the exams and you will clear all the exams without any arrears. Follow the below steps to utilize the study holidays.

1. Calculate how many days leave they are providing for the study holidays.

2. Divide the days for the total number of subjects you have. (ex. If you got 15 days leave and you have 5 subjects 15/5 = 3 days for a subject).

3. Now plan for the 3 days to complete the subject in time.

4. Split up the days as follows.

5. Study for 12 hours a day. Sleep for 8 hours and 4 hours to relax you. In that four hours relaxation play for 1 hour listen to music for 1 hour and 2 hours of your wish. The important thing is don’t take 4 hours continuously. Take one hour continuously and split the break hours for four times.

6. Plan the 12 hours perfectly. Split the time to study a question or the subject. (I usually take 5 hours to finish a subject.) Set the target for yourself and start.

7. The best time to study is the morning hours and in the evening hours. Wake up by 5.30 or 6 am and start studying till 10’o clock. After that you will get bored.

8. Take a break of one hour for bathing and have your breakfast for 45 minutes. Have fun in the remaining 15 mins and go back to study.

9. Study up to 1’o clock and have your lunch have a small sleep and go back to study at 4 pm. Sleep for 2 hours in this 3 hours break.

10. Study till 6’o clock and have a break for the tea and have some fun around you for one hour.

11. Start studying at 7’o clock and study till 9’o clock. Take one hour break for the dinner and watch some shows on TV.

12. Go back to studying at 10’o clock and study till 12’o clock in night. Go to bed and wake up in the next morning at 6’o clock and continue the same procedure for the next days.

If you follow this procedure you will surely finish all your subjects in time and you will have sufficient time during the exam time to revise your subjects.
