A lot has been brewing for the people at Jamborii Mas!

Reports are that Jamborii will be the first Campus Carnival Band to officially Launch their 2012 Presentation. Rumor has it that they will be presenting their dedicated masqueraders with a little of the unexpected this year. This rumor is on the heal of stories of new changes to UWI's version of Campus Carnival.

When asked, Jamborii Marketing Representatives are quick to explain that all will be revealed in due time. An official email from Jamborii Mas to Masqueraders indicated that all can be assured that Jamborii Mas is committed to the providing its Masqueraders with a perfect experience regardless of restrictions. Stefan Guevera said, "When the patron gives us his money, they do not give us some and UWI or the Guild half, patrons trust and depend on us to deliver a service. For 2012 we will deliver." Stefan remained tight lipped about "how" this delivery will happen, only stating that at the Band Launch, those present will get a taste of the future of Mas.

The EEEmpire is taking us all BACK, Back to the Beach. Retro yes, but this is the most comfortable Beach Lime experience yet!

Music:
Will be set up from 1pm, with your special Dj to suit your avaricious appetite for song and dance. OLD SCHOOL Style. That Shabba Rankin, Lady Saw, Red Rat and General Degree to soothe your ears.

FOOD:
Hungry? On October 30th, we introduce "Barbie Q" to the World. These ladies serve you food in fine style. The meat is pre cooked before its Bar B Que-d and dipped in their special, secret blend of sauce and seasoning. The product is tender, juicy chicken, ready to fall off the bone and into your plate. The salad is freshly picked from a backyard kitchen garden and the rice will be kept warm even on the beach.

DRINKS:
Patrons. Relax responsibly with Corona Beer and Corona Lite our headline drinks, served ice cold with a ⅛th of lime. How do I get to the BEACH?

Pay $60* by Saturday 29th to secure your space on a shuttle.
Shuttles depart from Arima, Curepe, City Gate and South promptly at 11am. Patrons are advised that even in the case of missing a shuttle due to tardiness, oversleeping, your mother saying no etc, your seat is still booked and your money will be kept.

Tropical LUAU, a Hawaiian island party nestled in our western peninsula. Trinidad and Tobago, deep within a state of emergency, left youngsters deprived of their regularly scheduled nightlife. Instead of succumb to the constrains of the curfew, The EEEmpire and friends decided to create a haven for the fun loving and the free spirited.

Enter Molokai, opposite the Crews Inn Hotel where the yachts stare in envy of your freedom. Greeted by Mr. Boxhead and courteous hosts you are whisked into paradise. Before you enter you receive your haterblockers, special UV Coated Sunglasses designed to blind patrons to haters. Picture, ladies in Bikinis and men in Capris both guarding their coolers at Molokai poolside.

Snowcones!

Molokai is the only place in Trinidad unaffected by the Sun. All islanders kept cool one way or the other. Some enjoyed free snow cones, complete with syrup and sweet caribbean condensed milk. Others drifted toward the Jagermiester bar and received complementary ice cold Jagerbombs. If this still was not enough, the coca cola cool zone kept patrons shaded and sprayed a light mist into the crowd.

As though this was not enough while the sun set and the Alcohol from coolers entered the blood stream Redymix DMT spun the crowd into a frenzy with another all star rubba dub dub dancehall session.

Pork Chops!

Hungry? This was an Hawaiian feast, with tropical delicacies served as the night continued. Sweet Pork kebabs, complete with juicy pineapples and green peppers dipped in tamarind sauce. Chef and food decorator Kerron Huggins at the helm of food preparation paid much attention to each detail. Single handedly he carved two magnificent watermelon centerpieces and constructed a pineapple tree. Behind this was mavis, the pig who was cooked till she was tender and succulent. Narvada Mayers churned the pig for five hours till she was chopped and distributed to hungry party goers. Even vegetarians enjoyed Iphils hot and tasty Corn Soup, complete with warm corn and big dumplins.

Breath of FIRE!

It didn't stop there, as though the event was too cool, Patriann Edwards was on hand to turn up the heat. From a balcony above she breathed fire over patrons, creating a spectacular show! Private Ryan, Stryker Regal and Runako carried the vibes as close as humanly possible to the curfew time.

Maybe we have been in Trinidad for too long, maybe its time for a little break. Lets go on an island journey. Our stop this month is the Isle of Molokai. This island will exist for one night only so it is up to you to get there in time and indulge yourself in the experience.

For Triple E this event falls as close to home as they come. Some of us worked at Red Bull Flugtag, others participated in it, others watched from a boat, the sand or the VIP deck. Great Fete Weekend of course! This year, Triple E hopes to add to the experience of all by hosting its own beach lime on Friday July 29th. Just the right way to kick off your long Emancipation weekend, without restrictions and inhibitions.

Not Another Beach Lime is a FREE. BEACH. COOLER. PARTY. As such its unique formula is bound to attract limers and diehard partiers from both islands. What is in store for NAEBL tobago?

Group Activities!
So one up from Beach Twister Tobago allows for several water sports. Patrons of NAEBL will be allowed to ride repeatedly on a Jet Skii under the supervision of experienced extreme sport wardens.
On the shore, limers will be treated to day time eating and drinking races and the occasional body shots served at the right moments.

Bar B Que on the Sand
What better to soak in the atmosphere than scintillating Bar B Que chicken soaked in Bar B Que sauce. A step away from the gyro man, our Bar B Que promises to be fulfilling and tasty.

Interactive Bar

Coolers are encouraged! Why make trips to the bar when your cooler can be re-stocked at intervals by our bar staff? Why worry about bar prices in the first place when you can bring your own drinks and get high off your own supply? What if we abolished the shot cup, and served Tequila in water guns?

No Evidence
To propel our event into euphoria and release all from inhibition, we will be deliberately leaving the entire beach photographer free after sundown. This is done to ensure whatever happens in Tobago stays in Tobago. Note: security on duty will be equipped with flash lights and metal detectors to weed out the unwanted elements and the bar area will be lit. That said, the majority of the beach will be dark allowing skimpy\skinny dipping. Its Tobago, so please leave all copulation for your hotel room.

Swallows Beach

Swallows Beach is located between Store Bay and Pigeon Point Beach. Besides the clear shallow waters and white sand, one is sheltered by coconut trees giving a unique Tobago tropical postcard feel. Similar to Tyrico, this is not a mainstream beach, and as such limers shall be for the greater part left alone and not harassed by chair sales men or curious onlookers.

So what exactly are these folk building? Armani Fernandes, expert builder works during the day as a manager at Trinsulate Limited. In the night Armani Fernandes single handedly manages iPalance.com and maintains his role as a Logistics executive in Jamborii Mas and The EEEmpire Co. Although accustomed to putting to things together, Armani knows that putting together a flugtag craft is a little more than building a stage. Armani explained that he plans to put together something sturdy and effective and he also plans to incorporate JAP INC to add flare and creativity to the masterpiece. Power Extreme!

Not exactly, "The Centurions" was a heavily Merchandise Driven cartoon series from The Eighties. This series followed the adventures of five technological Super Heroes who fought against evil using Assault Weapon Systems. They also carried around an orange monkey for no reason. A fond childhood memory for most shall return centre stage as the Fearless Five, the Palancing Centurions plan to wine, jam and power their way to the Red Bull Flugtag record books.

The Graffiti Art Show: Week 1

Graffiti has returned to the city of Port of Spain!
The award winning show is here. Critics said:

"A Riveting experience", "JAP is just divine when he touches white", "If all parties were like Graffiti i'd never need a phone book for phone numbers!"

The graffiti experience is not only an event created for the enjoyment of patrons but also for budding graffiti and graphics artists, writers, photographers. It allows for the entire behind the scenes cast some time behind the camera to receive exposure from marketing the event and simultaneously themselves.

For the past six weeks the entire cast of the Graffiti experience has been working tirelessly towards the organisation of the Graffiti Art Show. This show is a tour from local college to college lasting an entire month, displaying art by local artists and breaking towards improvement of marketing the event with each New Year and concept.
The actual organising of the art show was surprisingly simple. The tasks included getting the necessary permission from each institution getting the support of the national museum who volunteered equipment and rounding up the artist to get their stuff together. The first art show was held at COSTAATT City Campus’ cafeteria. With good music, beautiful displays, fun enthusiastic organisers and a visit from Mr. Box head himself the entire vibe was one of pure excitement and anticipation for the main event. After COSTAATT, the next stop was UWI. Getting the art show on at U.W.I. specifically started off a bit shakier than at costaatt but besides the minor glitches the event went quite well. The main objectives were met, basically to give the art propulstion into student life and inject some word of mouth about Graffiti 3 on its way.

Sonielle Rahim ,a talented female artist and a bubbly newbie to the artiste cast.With her talents she is an exception to the stereotype that only men graffiti.
Kalifa Damani is a skilful sketch artist, photographer and UWI psychology student. The empire wishes to invite any interested artist to contact them if they are interested in setting up their own booth at the event.
Isiah Lindsey is JAP INC. ..What we meant to say was... The art show featured art by local artist and graffiti experience veteran Isiah “Jap” Lindsey. Isiah has been a part of “Graffiti” from the beginning. After the use of his talents at the first Graffiti photo shoot in 2009, his publicity sky rocketed and his undeniable skills were acknowledged by the masses. In an interview, Jap explained that for him it has been a pleasure being supported by 3E with the opportunity to display his work at all Graffiti parties to date. He said, "The art show this year being at different locations has really done a lot to promote Graffiti and the art I do." The EEEmpire hopes that through the development of a "Graffiti Village" a lot more artist would come towards with their artistic contributions and have the opportunity to expose their art to hundreds of patrons. This will to the benefit and greater good of the Graffiti art form and give this art form its much deserved respect and acknowledgment. The Graffiti Village refers to a large area of booths at the upcoming Graffiti event. These booths will have anything from pineapple chow to airbrush artiste.

[G3] The Concept: The world is your canvas

Graffiti has been around since the beginning of time. Cavemen used to write their history and beliefs on the walls of caves. Later, Graffiti was used by self taught artists to mark gang territories, to make political statements and to simply express themselves by creating large murals on walls with airbrush paint. It is not vandalism, it is art. We took this art form and combined it with the innate feeling of all Trinbagonians and created The Graffiti Experience..

[G3] Presents one with an opportunity for one night to write on complete strangers’ t-shirts, pants and shirts. Graffiti Kaleidoscope is the 3rd instalment and this year our concept seeks to combine colours at an outdoor venue. Patrons are expected to express themselves with markers while enjoying the highest quality of entertainment.

Josh Brizan expressed his thoughts on where he sees the future of Graffiti to be, “I'm hoping that it develops and becomes way more than just a concept party. I'd like it to be something that people can fly in just to attend.”

The Easter Spectrum. 2011.

The sun is too hot. The people need beach. Sentiments shared by the hundreds of people who congregated for the 5th installment of the never ending "Not Another EEEmpire Beach Lime" series.

Rain, traffic and haters had a hard time stopping the proceedings. From 10am 76 eager beach goers assembled at several shuttle pick up points, coolers in tow adorned with shades, beach wear and an avaricious appetite for vibes. By 1pm patrons piled onto Tyrico, greeted by fresh and clean beach waters, Tassa drums and shocked beach campers. Many Indo-Trinidadians set up camp sites on Tyrico bay , complete with amenities such as Television sets, Hammocks and Popcorn Machines. These were quite interested in the large procession of smartly dressed and barely clad youngsters.

At 2pm all activity was at a minimum as the Red Bull Pinzi was unavailable for use, so no Nintendo Wiii tournaments as the case in "9.1.1" the January beach lime. Re-stocking on drinks and vibes the crowd played ball, took brief dips in the water or just sat around and sent "PINGS!" to Ken's blackberry.

By 4.30pm, not a moment too soon, riding in from the west, on a van tray, under coconut trees... was the eagerly awaited backup sound system. With no time to spare Redymix DMT captivated the audience with his unique blend of known hits, mixed perfectly to force the most boring bumce to gyration. At 5pm, with the party in full swing, patrons who drained their coolers re stocked their Red Bull, Smirnoff, Nuvo and Johnnie Walker at the bar on the sand.

Stryker Regal, reminded all that this was Mas on the Beach and wooed the crowd into a dramatic frenzy. The beach lit by tiki lamps and moon light alone provided the perfect ambience for a incident free 3 hour after sunset jam session. Stopping just in time to remind everyone for the full dose of euphoria, they would need a ticket to [G3].

And it is that time of year again. Carnival is over, Lent is in the air, the smell of sea food overtakes the smell of chicken. Promoters sit and plan their year and release facebook events one by one. What is next for The EEEmpire?

3E is Planning and Fine tuning

Well our Graffiti Dreams have overtaken us over the past few months. And now the entire Triple E Family is determined to give every single patron the time for their life in one night. Tight lipped as to exactly what, where and when we were able to find out that the marketing campaign, 'White Jersey Season', will start from April and fuse photography and graffiti art. The EEEmpire is working closely with Isiah JAP Lindsay for the third year, a new talented Graffiti Artiste named Sonjelle, J. Hamilton and JB Photography. Stryker Regal is also tipped to join the festivities come May 29th. Trevlyn Lezama and Redymix DMT will be returning to the GRAFFITI experience this year, after their winning performances and mixes at Graffiti Glow last year.
Also, Jamborii Masqueraders will be treated to cheaper tickets as a thank you for their unstinting support. Expectation builds gradually as the world is invited to witness Graffiti Kaleidoscope.

Marie, arguably the most bubbly member of Triple E Fam and the president of our Birthday Club, hosted her friends and family at Playdium play park in La Romaine.

With bumper to bumper activities, lots of love, secure transport and two cameras the lime was set to be memorable for Marie and her invited guests. Karien Saunders, the lady behind Stefan Guevara explained: "Upon arrival we walked directly to the food court where the majority of us ordered and ate food. We sat around the table for a while, and got to know each other."

Eventually other friends of Marie such as Ken, Armani, Thalia and Kristal arrived and everyone gravitated to the games area. Karien Saunders said her favorite games were the hummer driving game and the bumper cars. Armani Fernandes mentioned that he came specifically to drive the bumper cars. At the end of the game Stefan and Armani teased Ken about his obsession with calling Kristal to get him out of tight spots. Love for the bumper to bumper rides overflowed. Kristal Alexander said "The bumper carts were the bomb-diggity, and this made me nostalgic of my younger cony island days. I am so accustomed to watching bumper carts on TV and wanting to sit in one I was happy to finally get an opportunity to do so in real life."

Basically Converse is giving Trinidadians.. well one Trinidadian the opportunity to design their own converse. It is done by they designing a converse they already own, taking a picture of the shoe, and posting it in the "fan Photos" section of the Converse Store Fan Page on Facebook.
Once your shoe has the most likes Converse promises to design a shoe just like the one you designed on your own.

Why do we support JAP?
Apart from the fact that his design is creative and original, JAP is more than just a one design wonder. Acclaim such as his own custom made shoe will be an excellent propulsion for his art and local Graffiti art in general.

Putting everything in perspective for us partygoers with Carnival Tabanka, The EEEmpire has announced their next big thing. Yet another beach lime! The Empire. Entertainment. Everything. just created an event.

Details are still sketchy, but what we are sure of is that plans are already underway for infrastructure to be added to the Tyrico Landscape. Noteworthy is that the founders of this never ending series have vowed to keep this event FREE of charge to those specially invited. "All our loyal party patrons and Jamborii Masqueraders will be specially invited." explained a founding member. Easter Monday promises to be a pleasant end to the conservative Lenten season. according to, Triple E. "During LENT we fast from LOSERS and never stop the party! - BEACH April 25th!"

Jamborii Mas. Growing Pains.

This year gave birth to a spectacular Campus Carnival Band. Jamborii Mas, Always a Celebration. However, the moment of birth did not come without blood, sweat and tears.

Jarel Torres explained it nicely in a facebook wall post. He said: "Even though half the band was frustrated with the distributions of the costumes... It was worth the stress! The fudging [Parade of the] band made up for it! It so nice I HAVE to do it twice!"
Jamborii Mas, to date is the largest ever first time Campus Carnival Band. With final masquerader count over 1,500. Campus Carnival is not an event solely run and administered by the promoters of each band it is done in collaboration with UWI Guild. Behind the scenes, UWI guild and Band Leaders work closely to ensure the success of the entire event and the satisfaction of all patrons.

Campus Carnival and The University's Guild of Students

Without rehashing the back and forth arguments, politics and disagreements from the week of Campus Carnival concerns were raised about "underage" students participating in three of the largest Campus Carnival bands. As a result of this and other concerns raised by university administration, UWI Guild was forced to tighten all protocol in the distribution of Guild bands and Alcoholic chits to avoid serving drinks to minors.
For us and several other bands this resulted in a "overhead cap". Initially we received 1100 guild wrist bands leaving about 400 patrons and committee members without guild bands. Stefan Guevera and other committee members could have been seen around campus in deep conversation with members of the Guild in a valiant attempt to satisfy each Jamborii masquerader. In the end we received exactly 1280 Guild bands and a few car\committee passes.
Many patrons from several bands had to wait till the day of Campus Carnival itself to receive guild bands or wait to be personally escorted into Campus Carnival by a Mas Band representative. Band leaders were forced to calm disgruntled patrons en mas. Frances De Lancey, of Psych Ward™ explained "I never paid my crisis management course any attention until I had to deal with angry patrons who could not get into UWI for the event they paid for." For Jamborii, as a large band this issue quickly exasperated our delicate distribution process and forced all committee members into overtime.

Disgruntled. Frustrated.
Words shared by band leaders and masqueraders alike. Also not exclusive to Jamborii Mas, disgruntled patrons have popped up on the walls and fan pages of all major Campus Carnival Bands, forcing band leaders to issue statements addressing the concerns of patrons as shown below.

In addition to the issue with the bands, the Parade of the Bands started later than expected and finished earlier than expected. The after party was cancelled and then un-cancelled for 90mins all of which was totally out of the control of all Campus Carnival Bands. Ironically when upset patrons say they are disappointed about the after party, false advertising as bands advertised a 7pm - 2am after party or being told by security that they have on the "wrong hand band" they blame the bands and promoters as many do not know better.

Also Jamborii Mas had two drinks trucks, one with non alcholic beverages and tequila and the other with extra ice stock and all our premium drinks including cases of Nuvo, Johnnie Walker, Red Bull etc. These trucks were separated, also no fault of ours but as a result of poor road management by the university's team on the ground causing some drinks to go warm for a short period of time.

Why so serious?

This issues with the guild were not the end of the problems for us this year. Over 1000 of our patrons collected their full packages with ease. In the rush of procuring guild wrist bands at the last minute and moving from DCFA (Center for Creative Arts) abruptly sizes and colors became abstract almost leaving a few grossly dissatisfied patrons. The Jamborii Mas customer service team immediately over printed jerseys and set up a temporary distribution point at social club all in more valiant attempts to satisfy each patron.
In addition to this, although the Gerra pork was an excellent addition to the palate our Corn Soup and Cold Stone Ice Cream was notably absent. Cold Stone Creamery sampling was cancelled at the last minute due to a "miscommunication", even though Jamborii Mas offered to purchase the ice cream to uphold their commitment to masqueraders. Between this and two Corn Soup suppliers proving unreliable even the planned cool down after lime was plagued with 'growing pains'.

After ALL of that, one may ask why play Campus Carnival anyway? Or why play with Jamborii Mas?

Well although this was our first year and we did have our hiccups the experience will last a lifetime. Jamborii Mas set the benchmark for all new Campus Carnival Bands. Never settle for mediocrity, Jamborii delivered to the people. Patrons received free bmobile lollies, horns, smirnoff cups, Jagermeister shot cups and bandanners. With these tools, two music trucks (as promised), two drinks trucks(also as promised) Jamborii Mas served patrons in fine style. The ONLY Campus Carnival Band to stock Jagermeister and serve Jagerbombs directly into masqueraders mouths' the procession quickly spun out of control. Even when the music stopped for the truck to turn the crowd sang along to the prompting of Stryker Regal. Music eloquently mixed by Runako Greaves, Pure Plyrz and Destruction Sounds patrons had to admit, in the words of Ren Renz,

"after all the hustle and stress I HAD FUN!!! IT WAS BESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS!!!!! :D (allyuh made up for all the stress so *thumbs up*"

Jamborii Mas. The End.

The phrase often touted by over enthusiastic Jamborii Mas committee members. Jamborii Mas is a brand new Campus Carnival Band that has already made its way into the hearts, minds and pockets of over 1000 people. What has caused their apparent success? What has been happening with Jamborii on Campus? Will they live up expectations on February 26th?

When questioned Jamborii Mas committee members refuse to recognize any 'success' till the job is done. One member noted, "There is still alot to be done, our job is far from over and their is still room for failure but even more room for resounding success."

So you probably were seated last week in the UWI undercroft listening to some poetry at UWI speak and in the middle of the proceedings someone dressed as Joker appeared; laughing uncontrollably interrupted things. Such an annoyance was on the brink of becoming a nuisance until Superman came to save the day. Dressed in a black and white converse, royal blue fitted pants, matching jersey and jockey Superman is ready to save the world from boring nightlife. A sight for sore eyes a visit from Superman would always brings a smile to your face.

The Joker is apprehended by a determined superman. TROUBLE in Metropolis yes!

Superman has an uphill climb as the darkside seems to be in control. Superheros running around? Is this what Jamborii has to offer?

Customer Service

In addition to the dynamics and WTF moments from a grown man in a blue tights Jamborii has more to offer than meets the eye. Jamborii has one of the most advanced online registration systems and a 24 hour customer service team. Still in its teething stages after signing up and paying patrons get a receipt in their email which they print out, much like a n online plane ticket. Although some patrons have complained about the delays, many are satisfied with the service and appreciate the individual attention the Jamborii customer service team takes.

Not just a tent and a table, Jamborii Mas has managed to secure a fairly enclosed area utilizing cloth and a carpet cut to the size of the tent creating a place for relaxation and registration. The above picture is an example of this, who else can take a sleep on the floor of their tent?

The Package of a Life time

Jamborii Masqueraders will not just receive some sun block and baby oil, but a range of grocery items such as tang, coffee, tea and cereal in his package. In addition to this, encouraging artistic and creative design within its patrons Jamborii Mas allows all patrons FREE Bodyart, FREE Face-painting and FREE Jersey Airbrushing. Usually any one of these services is $60-$100 (for a temporary tattoo, an airbrushed jersey or your face painted). This in addition to free Cold Stone Ice Cream with a retail value of $50, Jamborii Mas is the only band to serve its patrons Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner and desert. Drinks are not limited to the usual Scotch, Vodka and Rum, but specialty liquors and premium Vodka will also be served. Jamborii Mas will stock Jagermeister, Goldschlager, Grey Goose and you may even see a bottle of Ciroc if you come to the bar at the right time. When asked how the drinks are going to be shared to patrons Armani Fernandes explained "We will have two drinks trucks, 1100 superheros and villans is alot of thirsty people" All this and then an exclusive cool down lime in the engineering undercroft with complementary Nuvo samples.

Once you enter the Jamborii Camp, prepare not only for the experience of a lifetime, but prepare for pictures and videos to immortalize this experience for you. This band boasts at least 15 roving photographers and five different videographers all with the experience to capture your best moments.

Lady of the Lightside

Trouble in Metropolis is the 2011 Campus Carnival presentation of the Campus Carnival Band “Jamborii Mas”. Trouble in Metropolis borrows its theme from DC Comics’ Superman but has its own new, unique characters. These new characters have been forged by blending the heroic and villainous qualities of four comic book characters with our local, Trini masquerading culture. The Man of Steel has now become the Man of the Steel Waist.

According to the ever developing story line, Joker and Harely Quinn, notorious villans are lurking around middle earth waiting for February 26th to face off on UWI Fair grounds.

What does Jamborii Mas have to offer?
Some Masqueraders say that some Campus Carnival Bands are like Jouvert Bands, with water, paint and even mud in some cases. Jamborii Mas hopes to improve the quality of Campus Carnival by presenting a product that could be expanded to national pretty mas and not just Jouvert. By Incorporating the elements of perfect customer service and quality; then fine tuning these to the point that each detail is seen as important enough for equal care and concern, Jamborii Mas hopes to become a cut above the rest.

When asked about their chances against other well known bands vying for supremacy on February 26th, one committee member said "We exist as though the other bands are already full to capacity so we are able to focus on our product and our people." Not simply high sounding words, the people behind Jamborii encourage all not to play with them because it is "sell off" but because the offer is genuinely viable. Kess the Illusionist calls all to attention

Kristal Alexander explained: "He scares me, I think his tricks are quite intriguing and phenomenal." For Kristal, many illusionists and magicians may be a hard sell, especially local professed magicians. Strangely though, this Kess the Illusionist seems like the real deal to her.
