Appendectomy Costs

Just had a procedure done and am nervous about the bill. I have insurance
But from previous experiences realize that isn't saying much evidently.

I asked my cousin, a vascular surgeon, to explain a few things to me. He said
The reason why bills are so high for people with no insurance is because the
Hospital wants to make absolutely certain there is no way the patient could pay.
They the...

Belly Button Pain, And Oozing

I apologize for the nastiness in advance:

A whole new meaning for naval gazing!

For anyone else terrified and experiencing this, I've found it was due to poor personal hygeine and having an inny. Basically, I wasn't aware that the belly button went that far in -- cleaning was just a quick scoop with soap on the old pinky finger, but it goes in a bit further than a finger can rinse.

Please...

Fever after appendix surgery

hi,

My sister got operated on 15-05-2013 for appendix. Her appendix had ruptured, so the doc had to do a incision instead of laproscopy and the appendix was removed. After 2 days of surgery , she still has pain at the place where the surgery was performed with pus oozing out from the same place and fever around 101,102 degrees.
Is this normal or whe should go for a second opinion. Her bowe...

Ruptured appendix - leaving the appendix in

Thanks for the reply.

The abscess I had was 10x9x10 cm and the doctor said it was the biggest appendiceal abscess he had seen. He mentioned that because of this I still have a lot of inflammation in the area the abscess covered and everything is 'stuck'. He said for that reason surgery wouldn't be a run of the mill appendectomy and that there are risks. He has told me that is my decision whethe...

Ruptured appendix - leaving the appendix in

I have a similar story. Several months ago while on vacation, I was diagnosed with ruptured appendix and a "walled off abscess." The rupture had occurred at least a week before, drs thought, and I didn't feel that sick. Initially the surgeon said that I may not need surgery if the abscess goes down with antibiotics and/or draining...although he said this is a brand new way of handling some cases o...
