how does the body overload on Iron?

I've been aware of my thalassemia since forever, and always heard that I need to up the iron intake by lentils, beans, supplements, etc. to get better iron levels. But I just learned recently that the body can overload on iron. How does this happen? Isn't the body low on iron, is my diet actually making it worst?... click here to continue

How to tell a blood clot from a bakers cyst

Low platelet level. Is it nessissary to cancel summer trip?

My healthy 16 year old daughter went in for routine health check. Blood test showed her platelet levels at 57,000. She is scheduled to see a hematologist on May 28th to see what's causing this. Here's the question. My daughter is leaving to Taiwan on June 3rd, only 6 days later, and will be gone for two months. Bloodwork after taking ferrous sulfate and B12

Abnormal white blood count

Hi, I recently went to my doctor because I have been having abnormal vaginal bleeding. She performed a cbc and called to say it came back with a low white cell count. It is 2.8 range 4.0-11.0. My neutrophils were also low 1.1 range 1.5-4. I did have a cold at the time but she still decided she wants me to see a hematologist.
