لو آپ اپنے دام میں صیّاد آگیا

یوں توکراچی میں پان اورگھٹگا منہ میں دبائے لوگ سڑکوں پر عام دکھائی دیتے ہیں. اوربرسوں سے قایم یہ رشتہ بحیثیت تجریدی آرٹ یا مشرقی گریفیٹی دیواروں پراکثر ہی دکھائی دیتا ہے مگر بعض اوقات کچھ ایسے واقعات بھی رونما ہو جاتے ہیں جوکہیں تو لبوں پر مسکراہٹ بکھیر دیتے ہیں تو کہیں کسی کے کپڑوں کی واٹ ہی لگا ڈالتیں ہیں. ایسا ہی ایک واقعہ کے شاہد میرے دوست مشاہد ہیں جو اپنے الفاظ میں اس واقعہ کی منظر کشی کچھ یوں کرتے ہیں
سڑک بھی کراچی کی ہے اور ایک بابا جی بھی جن کا تعلّق بھی کراچی سے ہی ہے. وقت ہے دوپہر کا اور بابا جی اپنی مگن میں موٹر سائیکل پر سوار اپنی منزل کی جانب رواں ہیں. حسب معمول منہ میں پیک بھری ہے اور موقع کی تلاش ہے کے پھر سے کسی کونے کو لعل ؤ گلزار کریں. اسی لمحے ایک تیز رفتار کرولا بابا جی کی پھٹپھٹی کو زور دار ٹکر مار تی ہے اور بابا جی ہوا میں دکھائی دیتے ہیں. دیکھتے ہی دیکھتے وہ روڈ پر آگرتے ہیں اور منہ میں بھری پان کی پچکاری ہیلمٹ میں ہی نکل جاتی ہے. شور اٹھتا ہے کہ بابا جی کا سر پھٹ گیا اور خون بھ رہا ہے مگر بابا جی پشیمان مسکراہٹ کے ساتھ جب ہیلمٹ اتارتے ہیں تو پاس کھڑی عوام کی حیرانی ؤ پریشانی بلند قہقوں میں تبدیل ہو جاتی ہے. اسی حوالے سے مومن خان مومن کا ایک شعر

محشر میں پاس کیوں دمِ فریاد آگیا
رحم اس نے کب کیا تھا کہ اب یاد آگیا
الجھا ہے پاؤں یار کا زلفِ دراز میں
لو آپ اپنے دام میں صیّاد آگیا

There has been several ways to write in URDU, the best i recently found is using Google Input Method. Follow the instructions and you’ll be able to write Urdu(Letters/characters/sentences) on facebook, MS Word/ notepad or anywhere

The Story of My Grandfather (Nana)

Since I was a little kid, my grandfather, Muhammad Shamim had always been a role model in my life. He is an intelligent man, loyal Muslim, prominent family leader and smart hard worker. I had many reasons for looking up to him my whole life. His whole story is full of sorrow and about difficulties of life. He was born in Delhi before the time of independence. At time of his birth his mother passed away and his father was out of city due to job requirements so his ‘Mami’ called ‘Bhabo’ brought him up.After some time his father also died. He was in rags then, however; he managed to start his own career as an honest sales man who traveled from Aligarh to Delhi and vice versa at the age of 8 years. Later he started his own business to make whistles for City Police. At the time of independence he migrated to Karachi, Pakistan. He was just 16 years old then however, he struggled very hard and started his business to sell and buy scrap near ‘Numaish (Old QuaidAbad)’. He made good money there by his smartness, hard work with honesty and courage and managed to start the business of making locks. He planted his first small industry of making locks for China, Bangladesh and India. He was at his peak those days but unfortunately, during the war of 1971, the Bangladesh cut from the Pakistan and my grand father came to rags again. He was a bold man so he faced these problems with great courage and zeal to survive. “Pressure turns coal into diamonds.” – Western Proverb He turned his old machines that made locks to ones that make vipers, so he started manufacturing vipers and supplying it across Pakistan. He also lost his son during these days but he kept getting up. He also fought elections in those days days and once again was in good standing. Nowadays my grandfather is a victim of lack of memory for last three years. Ever since I have known him, I always saw him doing hard work smartly even though he was a lay man. When looking towards my grandfather, I remember a hard working man, his loyalty to his nation, his smartness, and his love for classic music; but possibly the aspect of him I like most is his many simple, yet captivating stories about his past. I learned many valuable lessons through my grandfather, whether it was during my childhood and during that last glorious summer that I spent with my grandfather. He showed me how to always find a positive side to everything, even if it was a fatal disease that I so much hated. Last, and above all, he taught me to not only work hard but smartly too.
