Bridgestone to invest Rs 2,600-cr in Chakan plant

The world's largest tyre-maker, Bridgestone Corporation, on Monday said it will set up its second plant in the country at an investment of Rs 2,600-crore to cater to the fast-growing automobile market, a top company official said.

"We will be investing Rs 2,600-crore in phases to set up our second plant at Chakan, near Pune. This plant will begin passenger car radial tyre (PSR) production and truck and bus radial tyre (TBR) production to cater to the growing demand for these tyres in India," Bridgestone Corporation's Vice-President and Sales Officer, International Operation, Takashi Urano, told reporters here.
The plant is scheduled to start turning out passenger car radial tyres and truck and bus radial tyres from January 2013 and August 2013, Urano said,"Initially, the Pune plant will cater to demand from India. We will decide to export tyres from this plant later. Our main focus will be Indian market," he said.

"We will able to produce 10,000 units of PSR 3,000 units of TBR per day by 2020," he said.

Bridgestone already makes tyres for passenger cars and light commercial vehicles in Indore, in Madhya Pradesh and plans to start passenger car radial tyres in 2011.

"We are currently producing 13,500 tyres per day at our Indore plant which will increase to 15,000 by this year- end," Bridgestone India's Managing Director, Hiromi Tanigawa, said after inking an MoU with the Maharashtra Government on Monday.

"We will start making tyres for trucks and buses at our Indore plant in the first half of 2011 and will increase capacity to 400 units per day by the second half of 2012," Tanigawa said.

Bridgestone Corporation has 190 plants in 26 countries and manufacturing products for over 150 markets.

"We are very unique in the tyre industry and aim to capture a significant market share in the country," he said.

Assets of Rs.2 crore found in tax officier of Indore

A raid in a tax official's house in Indore in Madhya Pradesh has yielded assets worth Rs.2 crore, disproportionate to his known sources of income. The officer has been booked under the Prevention of Corruption Act, police said Tuesday.

Searches that continued till late Monday at the house of Assistant Commercial Tax officer Bhim Singh Thakur yielded cash, jewellery and property worth over Rs.2 crore.

Sleuths found an LCD TV, a 34-inch colour TV, an air conditioner, two SUVs as well as Rs.1.80 lakh in cash, bank deposits of Rs.21.5 lakh, LIC policies with annual premium of Rs.5 lakh and jewellery worth Rs.14 lakh.

Documents showed that apart from the three-storied house in Anand Nagar in Indore, the official owned a house, a three-storied building and a warehouse.

Apart from this, Thakur also owned four plots in main localities and eight agriculture plots worth over Rs.20 lakh in villages Umria Khurd and Songuralia, police said.

Buoyed by robust sales in mid-income housing, real estate giant DLF on Monday said it will invest Rs15,000 crore over the next three years to develop various residential projects across the country in Rs15-40 lakh range.

DLF, the country’s biggest real estate developer, had last year announced its plan to enter into mid-income housing segment, realising the huge untapped demand in this category.

“We will be investing Rs5,000 crore a year over the next three years on mid-income housing projects,” DLF Home Developers vice president A Harikesh told the news agency.

“Mid-income homes will be our focus area and will witness significant growth in the coming quarters,” he added.

DLF’s investment plans for affordable housing coincides with announcement by public sector banks to boost the segment by cutting home-loan interest rates, putting caps of 9.25% for Rs5-20 lakh and 8.5% for loans of up to Rs5 lakh.

Harikesh said internal accruals, advances against sales and capital raised through private equity would take care of the planned investment. DLF had raised Rs1,675 crore as private equity in eight projects in November 2007.

DLF Home Developers, the wholly-owned subsidiary of DLF, would construct about 40,000 housing units in the mid-income category, sizes of which would vary between 1,000 sq ft and 1,800 sq ft, he added.

The company has witnessed tremendous response for its mid-income housing projects and sold over 7,000 flats so far this year, despite slowdown in the housing demand for the last six months on account of high interest rate and capital value.

DLF has launched mid-income housing projects in Bangalore, Gurgaon, Hyderabad, Indore, Kochi, Kolkata and Pune.

The company would launch similar projects in Chandigarh, Jalandhar, Ambala, Goa and Lucknow within next six months.

DLF Homes plans to launch such projects in all 31 cities where the company has presence by 2009-10, Harikesh said.

“The price would vary from city to city but majority of the units would be in the price range of Rs2,000-3,000 per sq ft,” he said, adding that in metros, the apartment prices would be higher compared to smaller cities because of high land cost.

He noted that the demand for its affordable housing is largely coming from end-users.

As part of strategy, DLF is discouraging speculation in its properties by introducing a lock-in-period of one year for re-sale and selling only one flat per family.

DLF currently has a land bank of over 750 million sq ft of saleable area.

DLF has already launched mid-income housing projects in Bangalore, Gurgaon, Hyderabad, Indore, Kochi, Kolkata and Pune.

Indore Mayor, Mrs Umashashi Sharma was taken into police custody here on Wednesday, while she was found to be `campaigning' for her party candidate in the neighbouring Assembly constituency. The Mayor was later released after she wrote an apology.

According to report, Mrs Umashashi Sharma riding a car along with her few supporters reached Chandan Nagar locality here on Wednesday morning to campaign for her party candidate Sudarshan Gupta who is seeking his election from Indore - 1 Assembly constituency. When the people came to know about this, they complained police about the matter.

Subsequently, the Chandan Nagar TI along with police jawans, went to Chandan Nagar and arrested Sharma who was found to be at the residence of former corporator Bhagwati Sharma, on the charge of violation of election code of conduct. She was later taken to the police station from where she was released only after writing a letter stating that she had gone to the locality in connection with water problem.

Electioneering in the city had come to an end on Tuesday evening and thereafter, no leader of political parties, representatives can move to each other's constituency under section 144, the police said.

MP elections: Citizens of Bhopal want an Indore

The assembly elections in Madhya Pradesh have been built as a choice that the electorate must make between corruption and development.

The BJP is trying to convert this into some kind of positive election campaign by talking singularly about what it feels has been its achievement over the last five years.

This is in stark contrast to what they had done in 2003 when all that they talked about was lack of water, lack of roads and lack of electricity in the state.

Now Shiv Raj Singh Chauhan tells the voters of Madhya Pradesh that he has got a sum of Rs 3,24,000 crore in the form of Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) that has been promised by several top companies.

A large sum of money has been bequeathed to the state and Madhya Pradesh has a golden era ahead, conveys the BJP.

“I have got Rs 3,24,000 crore of funds. I am building on electricity,” said state chief Shivraj Chauhan to the electorate in a bid to win another term.

On the ground though, even now most parts of MP are caught in a battle for the basic amenities – bijli, sadak, paani (electricity, roads, water).

MP has been many a times caught in what is often described to be a Hindu rate of growth.

It is surrounded by heavily industrialised states like Maharashtra and Gujarat but yet it has failed to take off.

It is true that there are many parts of MP which have simply not been touched by the industrial revolution.

But in Indore - the heart of Malwa belt - the kind of economic prosperity and the kind of ground level changes that are being witnessed are simply unimaginable.

Island of growth

Located just about 300 kilometers from Mumbai, Indore has followed in the foot steps of the capital of Maharashtra, earning the nick name ‘Mini Mumbai’ for itself.

Swanky hotels, posh houses, concrete roads dot Indores streets. One sees no sadhavi Pragya Thakur Singh related exchanges nor any terror talk.

Like any other cosmopolitan town, citizens are busy running on the road of fast life.

"If you talk about education percolating to all the strata of society, Indore has come up in the state itself as one of the central hub of educational facilities with the IITs and IIM coming up in Indore.

If one talks about the industries, Indore has a planned industrial setup from three sides - like the Bidampur, Desarver as well as the Devas town.

All these factors contribute to the people pooling in from outside and the locals too look forward to it.

“Well, Indore has a mixed business culture. A lot of the tourism is from the corporate sector but there are also people who want to travel for a holiday or for leisure,” said an Indore citizen, Mrs Ahluwalia.

From Bundelkhand to Mahakaushal to Malwa, MP in many ways is a melting pot of different identities and cultures.

Yet, an IIM, IIT or a proposed AIIMS; all top educational institutes are keen on setting up their bases in Indore.

This is the place that the state government projects as a showpiece. It is this place that mirrors its progress. One can’t help but feel that Indore is an island of growth as compared to the other regions of backwardness.

“The risk taking capabilities, the enterprising spirit of the people is available only in Indore,” claimed another proud Indorean, Tarak.

“Yes, this is the attitude of the people. Attitude makes the difference,” added Mrs Ahluwalia.

Bhopal Vs Indore

Bhopal is located barely four hours away from Indore. Though the attitude of people in Bhopal is quite enterprising too, Bhopal is not what Madhya Pradesh showcases.

It has the lake, the Taj Ul Masjid. It also has McDonalds and yet Bhopal still has a lot of catching up to do with Indore.

There are the new-age-economy-entrepreneurs in the city. It is a business that is a complete anti thesis of what the Sangh dominated version of Hindutva stands for.

Fashion designers, for example find it a city fraught with problems.

“There are so many problems. We want to do something for this city. But then we need fashion people. People say there are a lot of institutes there is lot of education but what is the standard of education? What do you do with just education? Once your educated what is you're mental level,” challenged Mumtaz.

Bhopal feels let down by top political parties

The biggest problem is roads. Indore is well connected to Bombay by road. People travel by road, but people avoid traveling from Bhopal to Indore. If one takes the road journey from Indore to Bhopal, he finds it’s very tiring, said a citizen. That's why people come to Indore but they don’t come to Bhopal.

Twenty-four year ago, an industrial accident that leaked poisonous gas over the city had killed hundreds of thousands and maimed many. But the locals say that neither the BJP nor Congress did anything for them.

"Humei 24 saal ke faaslei mei yeh mehsoos nahi hua ki congress bhi aayi BJP bhi aayi. Aur har tarike se sarkarein bani magar ek pal ke liye kisine palat kar bhi nahi dekha (In all these 24 years both the BJP and Congress formed their government in the state but neither of them tried to do anything for the victims of those of that incident),” says Hazra Bi.

Can this hopelessness create a space for an alternative political space in a largely Congress and BJP bastion?

The mood of the electorate seems to have left a crack open for who they feel may genuinely care about people’s issues. Will any party take advantage of that? Who slips in through the crack is yet to be seen.

In Indore, rivals find terrorism a slippery plank

Despite their top leaders spending all their time and energy crossing words over terrorism, the local units of the Congress and the Bharatiya Janata Party are hardly making it an issue in the November 27 Madhya Pradesh Assembly elections.

The BJP is not using terrorism to target the “minority-appeasing” Congress even in Indore, which has been a dateline for many a news report on terror in recent months. “This is an Assembly election and development is the key issue,” says Indore Development Authority Vice-Chairman Chandra Kumar Makhija.

Among those managing the BJP’s Indore office, Mr. Makhija pulls out a booklet on terrorism in a counter to a question whether the party has been forced to go on the back foot following the arrest of Sadhvi Pragnya Singh Thakur and disclosures of the involvement of some “Hindutva” outfits in terror incidents.

He rubbished the claims of Maharashtra’s Anti-Terrorism Squad, as part of a “Congress conspiracy to divert attention from its failure to contain terrorism.” But, as an electoral issue, terrorism does not find primacy in the strategy of BJP candidates in Indore despite the arrest of the all-India general secretary of the Students Islamic Movement of India, Safdar Nagori, from here along with nine others this March.

Corruption an issue

Though corruption charges against successive Congress governments at the Centre and the recent controversy over senior Congress leader Margaret Alva’s allegation of ticket sale in the party are hardly issues related to Madhya Pradesh, the BJP is using these with gusto against its opponent. Daily, newspapers are crowded with advertisements listing a litany of “Congress follies” — both at the Centre and in the State.

At the local level, the Congress is equally shy of using terrorism as an issue to nail the BJP, displaying none of the glee with which its central leadership has been attacking the BJP after the Sadhvi’s arrest. Candidates admit that this is a slippery ground and there is no telling which way people will swing.

If the Congress is side-stepping the issue for fear of losing the majority Hindu vote bank, the BJP is going the extra mile to enlist Muslim support. Special pamphlets have been brought out in Urdu, urging the community to trust the party this once.

Let alone issues, campaigning in Khargone and Barwani — two districts bordering Maharashtra — is an uphill task, thanks to the cotton and chilli plucking season and the Election Commission guidelines.

That the commission writ runs large is evident across the region as campaign material, including flags and posters, is rare to come by. But for the odd campaign vehicle criss-crossing the plateau, there is little to suggest that the election is less than a week away.

So strict is the Commission and so mindful are candidates and their supporters of its diktat that all parties appear to have fallen in line.

What’s more, they are quick to report any violation. A day after the BJP was pulled up in Indore for distributing voter slips with a photograph of Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan, Congress workers in Khargone were planning to draw the commission’s attention to a similar violation.

With the commission keeping a check on loudspeakers and the number of vehicles, besides prohibiting use of schoolgrounds for meetings, it is back to door-to-door campaign — a task rendered difficult in sprawling constituencies like Khargone and Barwani, where villages are set apart by vast expanses of land.

If this was not bad enough, the elections clash with the peak cotton and chilli picking season when all hands are needed on the fields. This has made the cotton collection centres at Anjad in Barwani a campaign hub as men line up — some with families in tow — on bullock-carts and tractors to sell their produce.

Chilli growers too are busy picking and drying their produce not bothering much about the elections.

In the Khargone constituency, Aslam Khan — overseeing chilli drying and gradation by women and children of the Jhamral samaj (bamboo workers) on the Naugraha Mela ground — has some interest in the electoral process primarily because a member of the community, Azizuddin Patrakar, is contesting on Bahujan Samaj Party ticket. Seldom are promises met, he says, lamenting unemployment among educated youth in the district.

Realty demand drops 35% in small cities

The demand for real estate in smaller cities and towns has plunged nearly 35 per cent in the first seven months of the current fiscal, as many realtors deferred their projects owing to higher borrowing costs.

The sharp decline in demand for property was witnessed in Tier II and Tier III cities including Pune, Chandigarh and Bhopal.

"Nearly 35 per cent fall in demand of purchase of properties in most of Tier II and Tier III cities has been noticed in the first half of current fiscal due to high cost of borrowings," industry body Assocham said on Wednesday in a report.

These cities had witnessed a 25 per cent surge in property demand in the first seven months of last fiscal year.

According to the report, more than two crore people in such cities are unable to buy property since higher borrowing costs have compelled most of the real estate developers to defer their projects.

The buyers of dwelling units have also not been able to make payments as higher interest rates and also still higher inflation have come on their ways to partly dampen their enthusiasm and eroded their budget, Assocham noted.

The report has been prepared on the responses from real estate firms based in tier II and tier III cities such as Meerut, Bulandsahar, Muradabad, Bhiwadi, Dehradun, Rudarpur, Chandigarh, Sonepat, Panipat, Manesar, Pune, Nasik, Bhopal and Indore.

"... not only the cost factor has compelled, the promoters of property makers to indefinitely defer their real estate projects but non-availability of inputs such as bricks, cement, steel and availability of quality power and delays in obtaining water connections have caused inordinate delays for developers to stick to their schedules," the report said.

MP's commercial capital, Indore losing sheen

Indore is the commercial capital of Madhya Pradesh. There are 5,000 big and small industries in and around the Indore city with a turnover of Rs 250 crore a day. It employs over 3.5 lakh labourers.

A Special Economic Zone (SEZ) is also coming up in Indore, which used to be the Island of Peace. Now, after 16 years, a curfew has been imposed in the city.

In fact, in the last four-and-a-half years of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) rule, there have been four incidents of riots. Is Indore losing its sheen?

There are 1200 big and small industries at the Sanver Road Industrial Area and about 1.5 lakh workers.

Close by, the Peethampur Industrial Area has some big names.

For three days now, all the shutters have been down. Curfew is back in Indore after 16 long years. Over Rs 40 crore are already lost. For a city that rarely sleeps, this is forced rest.

''The government's attempt to attract investment in the state by calling it an island of peace has taken a beating,'' said Gautam Kothari, president, Peethampura Industrial Association.

''Some political parties feel that they will return to power by resorting to religious intolerance. They have blown the electoral bugle through this violence,'' said Ashok Jaiswal, president of Association of Industries in Indore.

Indore has been organising summits to attract more investment. The BJP knows a knock on Indore's image can prove costly.

''The image of Indore takes a beating due to such incidents. The growth of the city also gets hampered,'' said PWD Minister Kailash Vijayvargiya.

Violence during bandh, followed by curfew in Indore, indicates that vote bank is more important than industries and growth for the BJP government in Madhya Pradesh.

Indore airport gets three certificates for its excellent work

Indore (PTI): The Devi Ahilyabai Airport here has been conferred with three prestigious certificates in the area of management, passenger amenities, security arrangements and environment protection.

Director of the Indore Airport R K Singh told PTI that Indian Registrar of Quality Systems (IRQS) has accorded ISO-9001: 2000, ISO-14001: 2004 to the domestic airport.

Besides, the Occupational Health and Safety Systems (OHAS) has presented 18,0001: 2007 Certificates, he added.

IRQS is certified by the International Quality Systems.

Singh said the Devi Ahilyabai Airport is the only domestic airport in the country to receive the three certificates.

As far as OHAS 18,001: 2007 certificate is concerned, he said Indore airport is the only one which has received this certificate.

At least 24 flights operate daily from the airport which carry about 1,500 passengers to their destinations.

NYT team visiting Indore, India for digital initiative

A New York Times delegation is visiting India this week to look at their digital programme being developed at the Indore, Madhya Pradesh offshore centre of Diaspark, a US based IT services and consulting company. The Times has been collaborating with Diaspark, with offices in New York, New Jersey and Chicago, as part of the daily’s Knowledge Networks business driven by its commitment to furthering the cause of education and learning and “education without walls”.

IIM Indore to hold MDP on Effective Communication for Managers

In view of constant demand from the industry for programme on communication management, IIM Indore is organizing a five-day management development programme on Effective Communication for Managers from June 24 - 28, 2008 at IIM Indore.

This programme is designed for managers at all levels who would like to enhance their influence, both within their organizations and externally with other organizations, by sharpening their communication abilities.

Says IIM Indore, "With the information revolution along with socioeconomic changes in the new millennium, effective communication skills have become critical to an executive's personal and professional success. Success in communicating in the competitive business environment will depend not just on an effective style but on the ability to analyze, organize, and present essential information effectively."

Talking about the programme objective, IIM Indore says, "The aim of this programme would be to understand as well as to internalize aspects of communication that can ensure increased productivity, quicker problem solving, stronger decision making, enhanced professional image, stronger business relationships, and steadier work flow."

The programme will cover areas like Fundamentals of Effective Communication, Communicating at work - internalizing communication skills of listening, speaking, reading and writing, Nonverbal Communication and Business Writing Strategies.

The programme director is Prof. M. Ashraf Rizvi. Prof Rizvi is an Associate Professor in General Management and Communication Area, teaching courses on business communication and Managerial Communication in the Institute's PGM and E-PGM and management development programs. He has more than eighteen years of experience in teaching, training and consulting.

Five murder convicts escape from Indore jail

Five murder convicts used towels to stage a dramatic escape in broad daylight from Madhya Pradesh's Indore District Jail, police said Wednesday.

The prisoners made their getaway sometime Tuesday afternoon but authorities realised they were missing only after 7 p.m. when all the inmates were being locked in their barracks, said Indore Additional Superintendent of Police Manoj Singh.

"The convicts, three from Khandwa and two from Indore, escaped by tying towels and scaling the outer walls. Though it is not exactly known when the prisoners escaped, it is believed that they did so in the afternoon," Singh said from Indore.

A general alert has been sounded in Indore and neighbouring districts, and photographs of the escaped prisoners are being circulated.

The Gujjar agitation in Rajasthan demanding Scheduled Tribe status reached Indore in Madhya Pradesh, with the community members taking out processions here, sources said on Monday.

The members under the banner of Gujjar Arakshan Samiti, gathered in large numbers at the Regal Crossing here, burnt Rajasthan Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje's effigy and shouted slogans against her.

They also accused Raje for resorting to oppressive policies against the community and demanded adequate compensation to the families of those killed in the agitation, the sources said.

Indian Institute of Management Indore (IIM-Indore) is all set to complete 10 years of its PGP programme, which was first launched in 1998.

To commemorate this occasion, IIM- Indore is organizing a reunion event by the name of 'rendezvous' which promises to bring together the alumni of the Institute, the current batch and the incoming batch of students. The meet is being planned in six cities across the country on May 24.

IIM-Indore informs MBAUniverse.com that this is an event organized by the current students of IIM-Indore. Through this platform, the alumni who are placed in the corporate world, come together and share views with the current and new students. It also gives the alumni an opportunity to know first hand what is happening at their alma mater and give suggestions and ideas to guide the institute in the right direction.

State cop visits Indore to gather details about SIMI

Amid suspicion of the involvement of SIMI activists in May 13 serial blasts here, SP (Special Operations Group) Devendra Singh travelled to Indore to collect information about the banned outfit’s activists.

When contacted on his return on Tuesday, Singh told The Times of India,"As of now, there is nothing much worth sharing with media." Several SIMI leaders, including Shibly Abdul, who was wanted in connection with the Mumbai train serial blasts in July 2006, former SIMI chief Safdar Nagori and his brother Kamruddin Nagori, were arrested from Indore on March 27.

Sources said Singh reached Indore on Monday and met Indore range IG Anil Kumar and Indore SP Anshuman Singh Yadav and sought details about the arrested SIMI activists.

A senior police official said Rajasthan police have sought help from Indore police in their probe into the suspected involvement of SIMI activists in blasts.

Another senior intelligence official said SIMI had been active in at least twelve districts of Rajasthan before it was banned in the year 2000.

"Thereafter 22 cases were registered against them and several arrests were made," he said and added none of the cases against SIMI men was related to terrorist activities.

He also said after the ban, the outfit maintained a low profile till October last year when it was al-leged to be involved in the blast at Ajmer shrine in which two persons were killed and 17 others were injured.

Indore tops in MP's stamp and registration duty collection

Indore tops the list of Madhya Pradesh in stamp and registration duty collection during the year 2007-08 with the district accounting for Rs 434 crore revenue out of the total Rs 1,540 crore.

According to sources, during 2007-08, at least 58,000 assets were registered.

Last year, stamp and registration duty collection from Indore stood at Rs 339 crore, they said.

The state government had fixed Rs 335-crore target of revenue collection for the district during the previous financial year.

The sources said about 30 per cent of the total revenue collection comes from the district alone.

23 pilgrims injured in Indore road mishap

INDORE: Around 23 pilgrims were injured on Monday when the bus they were traveling in overturned near Simrol Police station on Indore-Khandwa road, police said.

The victims belong to Nagpur and were heading for Badrinath on a pilgrimage, police said.

The incident occurred when the driver of the bus tried to overtake a truck, they said.

The injured passengers were admitted to Indore's Government Maharaja Yashwantrao (MY) hospital, police said, adding a case has been registered in this regard and further probe is on.

Online registration of properties soon in Indore

Madhya Pradesh PWD and IT minister Kailash Vijavargiya on Thursday said that the system of online registration of properties would soon be introduced in Indore.

Addressing a function to inaugurate the Office of Deputy Registrar at Sukhaliya here, he said this step was a fresh initiative in the direction of public facilities' extension, a official Indore release said.

It is the endeavour of the state government to ensure that common man of Indore should not wander about for day-to-day administrative works, he said.

For this purpose, Vijayavargiya said efforts are being undertaken to make such arrangements that people of Indore can have their works done sitting at home.

Under this new arrangement, people would be able to use internet for getting certificates, depositing fees and taxes and get many other works done. Besides, 9,000 E-Kiosks are also being set up.

Registry of land and properties in 15 wards of Indore would be made at this Deputy Registrar's office, he said adding that target of 10,000 documents' registration per annum has been set for this office.

District Registrar informed that online registration facility would soon be introduced in the district.

Cases against M F Hussain in Indore quashed

Eminent painter M F Hussain has got relief from the Delhi High court in three cases that had earlier been filed against him in local courts.

The cases against him were filed in Indore, Rajkot and Pandharpur.

Hussain had been accused of outraging religious sentiments, promoting enmity between two religious groups, selling obscene material and disturbing national integrity.

It was his Nude paintings of Hindu gods and goddesses as well as Bharat Mata that created a furor resulting in several threats from right wing Hindu groups like VHP, Shiv Sena, Bajrangdal and the Hindu Jan Jagriti Samiti.

Three other cases are still pending against the painter, so this is only a temporary relief.

Hussain, 92-year-old has been living virtually in exile in Dubai since 2006, following a series of threats and several court cases that were filed against him.

Cases were all transferred to Delhi late last year as per Supreme Court directive.

The coming Friday will see two diverse releases in the form of Ravi Chopra's Amitabh Bachchan, Juhi Chawla, Aman Siddiqui and Shah Rukh Khan (special appearance) starrer BHOOTHNATH and Mimoh Chakraborty's debut vehicle JIMMY. Out of the two it is obvious that BHOOTHNATH is the movie that will get a reasonable start, based on interesting promos featuring megastar Amitabh, Juhi, Aman and SRK, and excellent release timing. On the other day, JIMMY has to face the brunt of bad and shoddy 80's and 90's style promos and too many delays.

Checking out the numbers, TASHAN collected 2 crores from Bombay, 15 lakhs from Indore.

Ajay Devgan's U ME AUR HUM is steady at places. The film gets the benefit of TASHAN's non-multiplex release, by way of good screens for an additional week and collects 1.55 lakhs from Indore.

KRAZZY 4 collects 2.40 lakhs from Indore.
