As I drove to Ewing Manor on their wedding day, sheets of rain were pounding against my windshield. But by the time I arrived, the rain had stopped in some sort of wedding day magic. This set the tone for the rest of the day to go off without a hitch! They said their I-do’s in Evelyn Chapel, drove off in a vintage car, mingled with their guests back at Ewing Manor, and laughed, cried, and danced their way through their reception.

Emily and EJ, you had an incredible wedding. It’s so clear how much you not only love each other, but are surrounded by so many who also love you fiercely. Thank you for inviting me into a part of your love story.

Although we’ve kept in touch over the years, this wedding was a wonderful accumulation of the year’s we’ve known each other; fellow classmates, teachers, friends and acquaintances. In fact, it’s Ivi’s father, Carlos Esguerra, who first introduced me to the world of professional photography back in high school!

A drizzly day turned into a burst of sunshine right in time for their ceremony. We walked over to the orchard for photos before continuing the night’s festivities! Enjoy some photos from their day below.

After downtown we headed to Lake Michigan for sunset. It was even colder but they were on Jasmin and Daryl exude such joy and it was *so* fun capturing these maternity photos for them to treasure for their first child.

Kyri (USA) and Ross (UK) were wed in an intimate outdoor wedding at Hyde Memorial State Park in Santa Fe, New Mexico (Kyri’s hometown!). Their seven year journey first began when they were studying abroad in Barcelona, Spain. They quickly fell head over heels for each other, and once the semester ended they continued their relationship long distance.

After graduation, they moved to Australia together. They funded their travels in creative ways; Ross learned that door-to-door sales is just as un-glamorous as it sounds and Kyri learned how to make jam donuts in a truck on the side of the highway. Although to be honest, making donuts doesn’t sound like a bad talent to have

After more travels in Southeast Asia, the two made their way to New Zealand. It was there that Ross proposed to Kyri. Above the clouds on the Kepler Track overlooking Fiordland, with a shell cast in silver, he asked her to be his wife.

It took two years for Kyri to get the VISA to live in England, but after endless paperwork she was finally approved! A beautiful wedding was planned and they tied the knot on a sunny September afternoon amongst their family and friends. They now happily reside in England together!

Frankfort, Illinois

I first met Erica and Mike a year ago for their engagement session and I immediately knew we’d hit it off! We laughed and chatted throughout their entire session, even with a 5k going on in the background. Fast forward to this year and their beautiful wedding day. Their whole day (except for getting ready) took place at the picturesque venue CD & ME in Frankfort, IL. Their outdoor ceremony, followed by a festive banquet, all culminated in a big dance party. And let me tell you, that dance floor was on FIRE! Erica and Mike’s friends and family weren’t shy to break it down on the dance floor (which always make my job more fun!). They were showered in loving words, tears, and hugs throughout their day, which showed the depth of both their love, as well as their impact on those around them.

Erica and Mike, it was a true pleasure capturing your insanely fun and beautiful day. Enjoy!

When I first talked to Laura, she told me that she and her wife Shenetta had never had professional photos taken before. Hearing this, I was deeply honored to be the photographer she chose to capture their love. I don’t take my job lightly because so often I am capturing once-in-a-lifetime moments in my clients’ lives, and this was no different. Since Chicago isn’t their forever home, I wanted to leave them with something they’ll always be able to look back on from their time here. (And of course that meant including some lake and skyline in their photos!).

From our first hellos I knew we’d have a great photo session together. Laura and Shenetta are so full of warmth and despite any camera jitters they may have had, were completely trusting and such naturals. In between shots I got to know them better and by the time we were finished I felt like I had simply spent my evening hanging out with two cool people.

There, in the harbor with Chicago’s skyline peeking in the distance, EJ proposed to Emily. She said YES!! Even though I couldn’t hear anything from where I was, their excitement and happiness was more than evident. Friends cheered from the dock, and EJ and Emily made their way back to shore.

EJ and Emily are totally rad humans. They are also so stunningly in love that taking their photos quite honestly the highlight of my day.
