EuroCalc | beta3

The tiniest currency calculator is now not ony usefull for belgian citizens with bad 40.3399 multiplication skills and an unexplainable interest in U.S. dollar conversions. EuroCalc now sports one fixed euro currency field (hence the name of the application), an old European currency field and a Non-European currency field of your choice.

This new beta version also sports a preferences dialog to make a selection of your favorite currencies and tweak the automatic currency rate updates.

Finally, this version should be fully compliant with your regional settings (concerning decimal point and thousand characters, etc).

Update: in my enthousiasm, I forgot to enable the "silent" start-up, which causes EuroCalc to start with its main window hidden. This is particulary interesting when EuroCalc is in your startup program folder (that's where it should be, har har). The bug is fixed in the download link below.

Download EuroCalcBeta3.zip (616 KB, Win32 executable without installer, and of course: use at your own risk!)

EuroCalc | beta2

EuroCalc is a tiny application which resides in the system tray. As the name suggests, this tool does some simple currency conversions. This tool's pretty Belgium minded since it only supports conversions between EUR, BEF and USD.

USD conversions and automatic updates of the currency rate are new in this second beta version - mainly because I wanted to play around with SOAP and web services stuff in Delphi, which was suprisingly easy by the way.

Download EuroCalcBeta2.zip (about 500 kb, Win32 executable without installer, and of course: use at your own risk!)

iTunes Statistics | beta1

As my iTunes library contains almost my entire music collection and since I listen to it excusively using iTunes and my beloved iPod, I figured I could extract some interesting "statistical" information from iTunes.

The whole idea started when I was wondering how much time I spend playing songs with "iPod+iTunes" as apple likes to call its succes combination. Using the iTunes COM for Windows SDK, it was easily solved.

Then I was wondering which album I played the most, which album has the highest rating, which album is the longest, etc... So I dived back into my Delphi development environment this morning and here's the beta release of iTunesStatistics.

It's a fairly simple tool, it lacks intensive error checking and speed optimizations, but it does provide some interesting information about your iTunes library. The first tab contains some general information whereas the second tab lists ratings, playcount, etc.. for all your albums. You can click on the column headers to sort the list using another criteria.

You want to give it a try? Download iTunesStatisticsBeta1.zip (about 350 kb, executable with no installer). You'll need Windows 2000/XP (although I only tested it on Windows XP SP2) and iTunes version 4.7 to run it.

Like it? Dislike it? Suggestions? Found a bug? Don't hesitate to comment on this post.

Important note: this is beta software and is provided "as is". You can use and distribute it freely in its original form, but I can't be held responsible for any damage or data loss as a result of using this software. In other words: use at your own risk!
