Yamaoka Tesshu, as a young student of Zen, visited one master after another. He called upon Dokuon of Shokoku.

Desiring to show his attainment, he said: "The mind, Buddha, and sentient beings, after all, do not exist. The true nature of phenomena is emptiness. There is no relaization, no delusion, no sage, no mediocrity. There is no giving and nothing to be received."

Dokuon, who was smoking quietly, said nothing. Suddenly he whacked Yamaoka with his bamboo pipe. This made the youth quite angry.

"If nothing exists," inquired Dokuon, "where did this anger come from?"

You are reading this.
Are you?

Do you have questions you don’t have the answer to? Do you speculate what is life? What is existence? Why are we on this earth?

We all have many questions in life, and we don’t have answers to them. But we are smart people. Let’s use our logic and elevate it to chaos.

Logic helps explain the world to us. We use logic and science to enhance our knowledge of the universe we live in. We are happy that we are making progress, going ahead, doing something constructive.

All our efforts are finally aimed at explaining why the hell are we on this earth? what is life? what’s the purpose of life? Why did it all start?

It’s so easy to spoil it all. The “centuries” of scientific progress can not answer these whys?

Why can’t science answer anything non scientific?

The answer is simple.

The weakness of logic lies in the fact that logic isn’t true in itself. It needs external entities which it can only relate with each other. Using logic we only express relations between two entities. And when the relation sounds convincing (if it holds true in most or all cases) then we find the logic accurate. Logic helps in perception. Logic helps in “making sense” of the world.

Now let’s put the process of Logic under the scanner of logic.
What is logic?
Can we logically explain the existence of logic?

Logic exists because we need logic to “make sense” of this world. So logic exists because the world exists. Because we exist. Without us, there is no need for logic, so there won’t be any logic.

And so, logic is a consequence of the human desire to need to explain and understand.

Ha ha.

But the truth is beyond logic.

Sample this:

You are not reading this. You are really not reading this. Make yourself realize that you are not reading this. Your mind won’t let you realize that you are not reading this. You have forgotten to realize. You will know the truth when you will realize that you are not reading this.

Don’t think. Follow your heart. And don’t be scared.Life is nothing.

The Meaning of Life by Langley

Haven’t all of us asked ourselves that question? Some of us found the answer; some are still searching for it. I will not try to convince you that I have the right answer; I am only telling you what I believe. You do what you want after that.

To properly answer this, we must first know what distinguishes us from the rest, what makes us unique…what makes us humans. Some might think it’s our “superior” intelligence but that is false since I sincerely believe some animals are smarter than some humans are. (A chimp could easily replace Mr. George W. Bush). Therefore, I looked for something else and then it hit me, creativity. No animal on earth could paint the Mona Lisa or imagine the fantastic scenes that Salvador Dali painted. We humans can imagine and create things. No other animal on earth can do that. It’s common sense to do what you do best. As a result, it would be logical if the purpose of humans were to create and imagine things. It’s as simple as that. At one point, I thought our purpose was to discover and comprehend our universe but any stupid bacteria can do that. Now look at what you are doing right now, you’re thinking about what I just said, developing the idea in your head, and making links. There’s a chain reaction going on in your head and you can’t stop it. Soon you will make up your own idea of what I just said. There, you created something. In this case an idea.

Sure, creative thinking isn’t always good (bombs) but at least we made something no other species can do. I never said the meaning of humans was to do good creative thinking. For that reason, it’s up to us to make sure we don’t create things that are useless and meaningless. Now go out there and THINK!

Wisdom is directly related to the power of abstraction.
The more you can detach your perception from the details associated with the entity under consideration, the wiser your understanding of that entity.

A living being when born is free of the assumptions and common knowledge that dominate the train of thoughts of a “grown-up” living being. It takes a lot of wisdom to be able to disregard the “knowledge” of the contemporaries and to formulate an understanding founded on abstractions which necessarily provide no details.

Our primate instincts for accumulating information to aid our survival is what presses us into delving deeply into details. This might be an important aspect of material survival, but it blinds the dormant abstracted wisdom that everyone has.

Don’t see the words, don’t form the sentences, don’t understand the ideas.

Feel the truth and be wise.

If human beings don’t keep exercising their lips, he thought, their mouths probably seize up. After a few months’ consideration and observation he abandoned this theory in favour of a new one. If they don’t keep on exercising their lips, he thought, their brains start working. After a while he abandoned this one as well as being obstructively cynical and decided he quite liked human beings after all, but he always remained desperately worried about the terrible number of things they didn’t know about.
