Note: We would like to provide you the best experience at this event. For this, keeping the schedule in time is a very important issue.
We would kindly ask all of our guests to be in time when the conference start. The registration is starting Friday, at 8am followed by the opening ceremony at 8:40.

To encourage the attendants to be in time, each day before conference start, around 8:30, we will distribute conference "goodies" like free eLiberatica t-shirts (we have around 100 pieces, high quality t-shirts), software kits, promotional materials and so on. + Open Source Software Middleware for "The Internet of Things" - Project ASPIRE

The EC-funded OSS ASPIRE (Advanced Sensors and lightweight Programmable middleware for Innovative RFID Enterprise Applications) aims to create an innovative, programmable, royalty-free, lightweight and privacy-friendly middleware for the Radio Frequency Identification Technology, or RFID. This new middleware paradigm will be particularly beneficial to European SME, which are nowadays experiencing significant cost-barriers to RFID deployment. It will also protect consumers by incorporating privacy-friendly algorithms. The synergies between the OS movement and the RFID revolution are paramount, and were first presented by Open Source Innovation Ltd, a British charity, during the 2006 Public RFID Consultation held by the European Commission.
The initiative, which crystallized in the €6M ASPIRE, brings together a consortium of ten renowned European partners led by Aalborg University (Denmark).

However, if this software is not managed properly, it can lead to legal, technical, and/or organizational discomfort that can result in very negative impacts on the business. HP (Hewlett-Packard) recognized these realities long ago and has developed processes, tools, and expertise to both foster and govern the use of Open Source Software within the company. In January, HP launched two initiatives related to the governance of FLOSS, FOSSology and FOSSBazaar. FOSSology is an open source tool for license detection. FOSSBazaar is a workgroup of the Linux Foundation, with partners such as OpenLogic and the Olliance Group, to share and discuss best practices related to FLOSS governance.
This talk will describe our experiences and learning around FLOSS governance and some of the best practices and tools we've identified along the way.

Only the elite could afford them. Today, we might think we have the best of both worlds … we’ve got all kinds of access to any type of data we want. Plus, we can share it whenever and however we see fit. However, data is once again … EVERYWHERE! We’ve gone back to where we started.
This data explosion is the primary catalyst for all storage problems today.
We’ll also discuss how virtualization allows you to tap into unused capacity hidden within the assets they already own. Virtualization also offers a way for you to reclaim IT resources that are currently being used to maintain inflexible and resource consuming infrastructures.

We are not going to insist here about the importance and the profile of the event - the speakers and sponsors list together with the preparations and venue are speaking for itself.
The conference is going to be heavily promoted on all channels, including TV, radio, Internet and print media. The date and location for eLiberatica 2008 was settled.

The second edition of one of the biggest IT events in Romania will take place at the World Trade Plaza (Free Press Market, Bucharest city) during the 30th and 31st of May 2008.
We estimate that, more than 350 participants, 10 international speakers and many representatives of large companies and organizations from Romania will be our guests.

eLiberatica 2008 – opportunities and business by using Open and Free Technologies

Dear partners and friends,

We are pleased to announce you that we have started to organize the eLiberatica 2008 conference.

The first edition of one of the most important IT events in Romania gathered this year, in May, more than 200 participants in Brasov. Some of the most important representatives of the international Free/Libre/Open Source Software (FLOSS) movement and of local and international IT companies were reunited by the initiative of ROSI (Romanian Open Source and Free Software Initiative) and Agora Media.

The event had a great success among IT specialists but also among business people that learned about a profitable alternative to develop their companies.

During the two days of presentations were covered most of the issues that the international FLOSS movement has to deal with, trying to create a stronger visibility on the community, the business environment and the local projects. With its special spirit eLiberatica offered the proper meeting space for area specialists, business people, professionals and computer fans in general, where guest could not only socialize, but also start fruitful partnerships.

The second edition of eLiberatica will be organized in Bucharest, the most business achieve and economical developed city in Romania. The event will take place in May 2008 (the exact date will be soon announced).

The proposed location is "World Trade Center Bucharest", the perfect place for presentations and networking for business people, specialists, professors, students and computer fans in general.

Keeping the tradition, next year’s event will gather important personalities from the Open Source and Free Software area, from national and multinational companies that use these kinds of systems to grow their profitability. We will give our best to have representatives from the Romanian Government as guests, next to IT representatives of foreign governments.

eLiberatica promises to be one of the biggest IT and business events in Romania for 2008.

Some of the discussion topics for eLiberatica 2008 are:

Free and open technologies in business: Open Source versus closed source POSS (Professional Open Source) model concept, business model types that use Open Source and Free Software;
Career development and professional growth by being a member of the international Open Source and Free Software community;
Legal aspects;
The importance of Open Source/Free Software in government, administration and public education;
Definition of the Open Source and Free Software trend: history, economical impact, etc.

We estimate that the registration section will be opened for the public in January 2008.

eLiberatica 2007 - bilingual and ePayment facilities

Starting this month, you can pay for your participation at the eLiberatica conference by debit or credit card, thanks to the electronic payment system setup by the ePayment company.

In addition, you can benefit from major discounts on your conference ticket(s) by registering and paying for your options before the end of February. Up until February 28th, you are able to take advantage of a 100 Euro discount for Basic Conference Tickets, paying only 149 instead of the standard 249 Euro price.
