Product Review/Rave: Mary Kay Shadow & Line Eye Duo

I have to rave about one of my current favorite products. They are the Mary Kay Shadow & Line duos. My beautiful cousin Sandra sent them to me and I was so excited to try them out. I think the concept is so awesome is a simple double sided pencil but on one end you have an eyeshadow, which is a cream like texture; and on the other end it is liner in a complimentary color. I was curious as to how the eyeshadow would hold up and if it would crease. The eyeshadow end is sooo soft and goes on smoothly and evenly which is not always what you get with cream shadows. The pencil end was very thin I started off being very careful so that it wouldn't break on me; but shortly after I realized it was very sturdy and I could use it normally. I was very impressed on how pigmented they were and how true to color the shades were.

I used them on two very different but versatile looks bellow:

For this look I used the shadow end as a base and layered a similar shade of eyeshadow above it. I than used the liner end to cut my crease and make the angles more precise. I noticed as a base it worked very well and helped my eyeshadow stay on longer! It also made the green pop and look more vibrant. This one was called: Soft Jade.

(Besides the Mary Kay Shadow & Line Eye Due I am also wearing: Soft Brown by MAC as my transition color, & all the other colors were from my NYX #9 Haute Model 10 Color Eyeshadow Palette.

For this look I used the shadow side (which in this case was blue) all over the lid and then complimented it with a dark brown eye shadow along the brow bone and black in the crease. This time I let the cream shadow stand alone and I was very impressed. It did not crease at all!!! I used the liner end (which was a dark brown) under my bottom waterline to make the look more dramatic. This stock is called: Bali Blue.

I have never used any Mark Kay products and I have to say I am very pleased with what I have tried out so far. I definitely recommend them I think they are a fun way to add a pop of color to any make-up look! You can check them out on my cousins website here:

OOTD: Flower Power

Well if you guys haven't noticed I've been living in leggings through the Winter. I pair most of them with a nice coat , or knitted sweater; a few accessories, and I'm out the door in a flash. I found this particular pair at Styles 4 Less which is a little fashion store that can be found around the US and they also have an online store. These are a spandex blend and have an awesome floral pattern; I paired them with a (very warm) knitted sweater that has some cute ruffled shoulder accents.

*Take note on my new pointed toe pumps with the short heel! I have these now in faux black suede (shown here) and in this nude color because neutrals go with anything! This little "classic retro" style is coming into trend through the Winter and far through the Spring. You will notice it has a modest point and a short heel (a little higher then a kitten heel, but not a stiletto) so keep your eyes peeled. If you spot them now jump on them because their mark up prices will go up soon!! (p.s I scored mine for less then $20 each!)

I loooove the lace on leggings look. I think its super chic and adds some sexy to any outfit. I have been collecting a few pairs but and I finally put a pair together in an outfit. It's so funny because we cary this lace at work and as soon as i walked my boss was like "our nylon spandex lace!!" lol So this is my Winter outfit (that I think you can only pull off in the "not to cold" weather of SoCal):

Winter Accessory: Floppy Hat

This is the newest addition to my wardrobe a big floppy hat which are very on trend this season. It's been so cold in SoCal lately and so I thought I'd put a twist on the basic winter hat (beenies, fedoras, baret). Besides keeping my head warm I've really enjoyed the old glam effect it gives my outfits! I scored this one at Bakers Outlet for $9.99!!

Fashion Challenge: Ugly Christmas Sweater Party

So this past weekend I was invited to an "Ugly Christmas Sweater Party" (which turned into an Ugly Christmas attire party since surprisingly it was a hard finding an ugly Christmas sweaters). Anyway. although the object of finding something hideous to wear wasn't too appealing to me I didn't want to be a bad sport so I went out to my closest Goodwill & sought something out. I couldn't find an ugly sweater but luckily I found a ugly Christmas Blazer (which is more up my alley anyway)! At first glance it just appeared to be an old blazer with Christmas flannel pattern, and a piece or garland on the breast. The garland was all shriveled and dead looking but figured with some ~~minor~~ MAJOR adjustments I could take it home and make it work for the occasion. So I stopped across the street to my local CVS & bought a red glittery Christmas reindeer ornament which is what I used to replace the garland with a glue gun. I also sewed in the sides to give it a more fitted look, took in the sleeves to make them super tight and give me myself the ability to scrunch them up to my forearms, and I kept 1 of the 2 sets of shoulder pads it had sewed in (Like really? Someone needed 2 sets of shoulder pads? LOL) to give it some edge ... I also moved over the buttons to tighten it up across the front so that I didn't have to wear anything underneath! I thought that (despite the circumstances) it didn't turn out to shabby! Check out my outfit bellow including my make-up look, and some pictures from the party!

Thought Of The Day: The Girl On The Right

Even though sometimes I have to be the girl on the left ... I'm ALWAYS the girl on the right at heart.

Shout out to my co-worker Patty who sits in front of me & took this picture! I had just gotten my new pumps delivered to work and she caught me trying them on! I thought the shot came out really cute and described one of the things I struggle with the most!!! When you cant dress the way you want to at work. I think most of us spend just as much time at work than anywhere else and sometimes it really sucks that you cant express yourself with your wardrobe the way you would like (well at least if you are a fashionista and love the art of clothes). Although I do dress up to work often sometimes I cant because I don't have time, or its just not always convenient for the work I do but inside I am always: done over, giving face, and wearing 3" heels MINIMUM!

I think its interesting that many are probably the opposite and HAVE to dress up for work everyday wishing they could be the girl on the left ....

FOTD: Christmas Shopping!!

Today I'm going Christmas Shopping!!!! I did most of it online but I still have 3 people to shop for and some "stocking stuffer" type things to add to my sisters presents!! Well I got in some comfy clothes and did semi-natural look with just a few products. So this is my Face Of the Day & this is what I used:

MAC Studio Moisture Tint, MAC Studio Finish Concealer, MAC Mineralize Skinfinish Natural, NYX 10 Color Eye Shadow Palette, NYX Trio Eye Shadow, MAC Technakohl Liner, MAC Sheertone Shimmer Blush (Neo Sci Fi Collection Summer 08), & Tarte LipSurgence

This is my new 10 Color Eye Shadow Palette I LOOOOOVE ITTTTTT! This is my second one because I really enjoyed my Caviar and Bubbles neutral pallet. This one has brighter colors and all the shades are shimmery (not as shimmery as they appear to have though). I think its perfect for the Fall/Winter/Holiday months!!! They have tons of color combination's with more wearable everyday neutral colors (I highlighted the one I got):

Trend Alert: Oversized Rope/Link Chains

So I have been spotting a lot of fashionistas out there rocking the "Chain" look and I am really loving this trend! I think it adds edge to outfits that are more feminine. I just purchased mine from Forever21 for $6.80. They are awesome for layering or you can wear them alone. I really like both looks; and I especially like how you can mix and match the finishes (gold, silver, copper, etc.) and it still looks super chic!!....

The only other accessories I wore were this Black cocktail ring (Thank's Jen!!) and some stud earrings.

I got my "inspired" booties from Charlotte Russe during the Summer and didn't have a chance to break them out until now. I didn't think they still were selling them but they still are and are having a "buy a pair buy the second for $15.50" sale now, check them out here.

Because sometimes going to the store is a hit and miss, or shipping expenses can be a hassle I also found similar pair from a Top Rated Seller on Ebay for under $40 (see image bellow)!! WITH FREE SHIPPING TOO! If you are interested check them out here.

The only difference I see to mine is that they don't have a hidden platform and the heel seems a bit shorter (although to some that might be a blessing).

I literally spend over 10hrs+ a week in my car sometimes and plenty more time far from home (as I'm a commuter)! I keep a couple things in my center consul I think can save you from a "girly" jam like; last min plans after work, a quick meeting, that "time of the month", or being at the drive up ATM miles away from home, no one in sight, and no pen for your deposit slip! Ugh! Anyway, here's what i lug!
Baby Wipes: I don't have a baby enough said, lol
Trash Bags: so much time in my car can lead to lots of junk!
Woman's Sanitary Products: Always and Eve
Hair Clips
Mini Lint Roller
And
My awesome pocket knife: which has the basics PLUS a vile for perfume, a sewing kit (must have) with a spare button and safety pin, a built in flash light, tweezers, and a mini pen!

Although you can't always have everything I do also recommend always having a comb, a pair or neutral pumps, a blazer/jacket, and a pair of hoop or stud earrings somewhere in your car.
I don't recommend storing your spare make-up in your car because if you live in a hot, humid, or dry area your make up reaching high temperatures and cooling off constantly can affect the formulation and/or make it more susceptible to bacteria.
Obviously, I also keep all my paper work emergency #s, emergency cash, tire pressure thingy, note pad, n other important non girly related items in my glove compartment BE PREPARED LADIES!

To Dot or Not to Dot....

This has become one of my favorite trends of the moment. I think Dot's are so chic! I saw them all over Style.com last year on the runways for these upcoming seasons and i completely fell in love.

I think they look great on mesh fabrics and even more so on chiffon's. I sort of saw this trend coming when we received tons of different kinds of Dotted fabric come in at work.

I have been loving Oxford style tops and Chiffon tops at the moment i think they look so elegant. The tailored looks really put together! So i bought a top with the same feel at Forever21 in a Navy color with White dots. I know "don't wear white after labor day" but i can really careless! I matched it right up with some white denim jeans, cuffed them at the bottom, and some navy faux suede pumps.

Shopping Tip: Don't fill your closet with entire Polka Dots! Trends are trends because they catch on quick and they're easy to fall in love with. Beware; this trend (like most) wont last forever! Buy some affordable versatile pieces that you can mix and match in your wardrobe even after the trend passes by.

I brought out my first dress for the official "Summer Season". This is a little linen smock-like dress. It has the cutest embroidery on the neckline, sides and bottom hem. It is so fresh and breezy! It was slightly above the knee which made it easy to wear to work and still be able to move around in! I didn't decide to wear anything over it because its completely closed off at the neckline & back (my job isn't SUPER formal when it comes to dress code). I paired it with some little hoop earrings (not pictured), a chunky wooden bracelet, and this baby pink flower ring that I scored at a little store by my house called "G-Stage" is made of glass-like material that is so cool! It is so dainty, and girly but its still big and chunky which paired nicely with my bracelet. I love that it has leaf designs around the band. It was VERY inexpensive but it still has so much detail to it. KILLER FIND!

This dress is VERY billowy so cinched the waist with a thin belt. I didn't want my belt buckle showing so I turned it to the back and tucked in the excess end.

OOTD: First Day Of Summer !!

Starting last week we began to have some really nice warm weather in my SoCal area! I work out in LA and although it is getting very warm; the office that I work in gets FREEEEEZING and the mornings are a little unpredictable as well. This little romper is perfect for unpredictable weather (with a warmer side). I really liked the tribal print that was on it (my boss said it was Mayan not sure how accurate that is; though it'd be interesting to know). The tribal print is very on trend this season (I'm sure you're seeing it everywhere!) and as much as I tried to resist the trend I fell in love with this print, color, everything! My favorite part is it has the longer pant legs to keep my legs warm if need be, but an open back and spaghetti straps to stay cool. Since I did wear this to work I did wear a tank under (hence the black fabric showing in the backside) to make sure I was not bearing to much skin and still kept my shrug on all day. After work I was able to toss if off and give my outfit a fresher look. I really love this shrug as well it is crocheted in an ivory color and is very versatile in my day to day wardrobe. The pant leg wasn't long enough for pumps in my opinion, so I wore some thong sandals which made my spring/summer look SUPER comfy! I added simple accessories because there was already a lot going on.

The weather out here in SoCal is so unpredictable lately. It alternates between hot and cold weather (and randomly you might get some rain). I hate big coats even in the winter time because they’re so restricting. I am more of a shrug/cardigan girl for sure. Now that I have to stay cool but stay prepared for a random chilly weather I've been on a new vest kick. They can really keep you a bit warm and bring some flare to an outfit. You just don’t see vests very often anymore.

My mother has aaaaalways been my #1 fashion idol. Although she’s always been a bit more conservative than I am she’s always been one to be on trend without being trendy. She has always had the most amazing sense of style and is super savvy when it comes to dressing for her shape. I've always admired that she refuses to leave the house without blush, color on her lips, and at least one piece of jewelry on; you never know who you're gonna bump into", she always says (cept she says it in Spanish). She knows what works for her and what doesn’t and has never cared who told her otherwise (even if it was one of my sisters or me). Sans the mom jeans (lol) I can honestly say she does NOT dress like a typical mom and most definitely has her own personal style. She’s always so "effortlessly chic”...

A few months ago my mom cleaned out her closet and gave me a bunch of clothes (because that's the rule "no clothes leaves the house until I go through it first!" lol). This top was one I felt I HAD to have it is such a classic cut and such a comfortable fit so, it is now officially part of my wardrobe. I came across it today and just HAD to wear it. I threw it on with some jeans, nude pumps, a vintage necklace, and a hot pink bag to spice it up. I love how accessories can really bring life back to some oldies but goodies.

I am so excited to announce I am back to blogging! I took a little downtime as I started a new job and had to organize what feels like my entire life around it! Answer: False

Although some toothpastes contain benzoyl peroxide (an acne-zapping ingredient that is also used as a whitening agent), there are many more-effective products that specifically target acne, says Vignjevic. Look for products with at least five percent benzoyl peroxide, like Clean & Clear Persa-Gel 5 ($7)

Be honest has your mom ever recommended this, lol?? I have to say though I think this has worked for me!! Maybe it was a weaker pimple? Ahh excuses, excuses ...

According to Carla Kay, a celebrity manicurist and pedicurist in Los Angeles, you should file from each corner of the nail toward the middle to avoid breakage and splitting.

Hmm I might try this because my nails are so weak, break, and shread super easily! Any strengthening breaking tips?
