My simple holiday tablescape is just one stop on the Celebrate Christmas Blog Hop. Leen, my friend from Sand Dollar Lane, has rounded up some amazing talent to share holiday home tours, DIY gift ideas, and tablescapes/centerpieces.

One of my favorite parts of putting together a tablescape is being able to shop my home and find different pieces to incorporate into the design. And it is so easy this time of year because there are items that would work all around.

As a starting point, I laid a simple garland on top of an old scarf down the center of my table as a runner. I love to create table runners from unique and unexpected items. Then, I kept layering pieces of interest on top.

Some cute faux antlers, black and white striped ribbon, the most inexpensive DIY hurricane candle holders…

A small strand of white twinkle lights, and ornaments straight from the Christmas tree all help the centerpiece come together.

For each table setting, I gathered up neutral pieces including my favorite striped napkins.

I even whipped up these cute ornament place cards with curled strips of paper inside featuring each guests’ name.

This tablescape was so easy to put together. Anyone could do the same by simply borrowing holiday decor items from around your own home and throwing in a little creativity.

Our boys, Big E & Little E, are 6 1/2 years apart. 8 years old and 18 months old to be exact. Coming up with a space that could work for both of them was a bit of a challenge, but I think we’ve made it work. We needed to focus on storage since we were limited on space. See the room mood board and before pics here.

This small corner is for our youngest little guy. It is just enough space for Little E’s mini crib. We keep all of his toys are in our living room play area. Under the crib, I’ve added a plastic bin for diapers, wipes, etc. Oh, and the moon on the wall acts as a nightlight for both of the boys.

Even though this space sleeps two, there is room for three! We took the extra mattress from the bunk bed and put it behind Big E’s bed. We can pull out it out anytime we have a guest spending the night. (And it makes a great spot for him to lean against while reading.) I’m sure you probably thought that the mattress was under the bed. My hubby made a trundle drawer to fit perfectly under the bed. It has 4 divided sections in it. This huge drawer can fit all of Big E’s clothing and even some toys!

How cool is this White Sailing Ship Kite from Uncommon Goods? Big E has been having fun playing with it and using his imagination on the high seas! There is enough room inside for army men, zombies, and toy cars. It is beautifully made and fairly sturdy. We have yet to get it outside and fly it, but it has made a great accessory/toy for this nautical space.

Big E loved that he was able to pick out the paint color (Sherwin Willams Silver Strand) and have some input on a theme. Sharks and the ocean are his favorites, so going with a nautical theme just made sense. He is also enjoying his new bed that we found for a steal on Facebook Marketplace!

There used to be a nice wide bookshelf in this room, but we had to move it out to make room for the baby. We were stumped as to where we would put all of Big E’s books, but then found this cool floating bookshelf. It doesn’t take up much space in the corner and still fits all of the books and trophies.

The boys were also in need of an alarm clock. Big E needed something that could help him get up for school and Little E could use a little sleep training help. The Kid’s Ready to Rise Alarm Clock from Uncommon Goods is perfect for both of them. It has built-in white noise and an alarm. It can even help a child learn when to get out of bed by displaying different colors for sleep, quiet time, and rise & shine! So cool.

This small dresser fit great in the bedroom because it doesn’t take up much space. It houses all of little E’s clothes, shoes, blankets, etc.

We added a long board along this wall with hooks so that the boys can hang things up. The hooks are actually boat cleats and are perfect for holding book bags, coats and hats!

And of course, we needed a new, fun overhead light. This light compliments the other lights in the room and goes with our homes modern farmhouse feel. Plus, for less than $30, the price was right!

I think that everyone is pretty happy with the new bedroom! There are enough storage solutions that allowed for Big E to keep all of his belongings in the room. (Most of his toys/games/shoes/etc. are in the closet which is not pictured.) However, since everything is arranged to maximize the space, this tiny bedroom still has plenty of floor area for playing!

About a month ago, my hubby and I were racking our brains trying to figure out how we could find some more storage space in our home. We’ve rearranged furniture and minimized our belongings. However, we still just needed an area where things could be better organized, but out of the way. And that kept leading to the same solution.

We needed to reclaim our master closet turned nursery.

Not only for the storage possibilities but also more privacy and better sleep. So, we approached our older son about the possibility of him sharing his bedroom with his little brother. He loved that idea! I must say it was bittersweet thinking about saying goodbye to that sweet little nursery.

Originally, our son’s room had brown carpets like the rest of the bedrooms in The Country House. And they needed to go!

A couple of years ago, my hubby ripped out all of the flooring and replaced it with new laminate hardwood planks. We also painted all of the wood trim a crisp white. Other than that, we did nothing else to this room since. It has stayed that way with the same furniture that my son had in The City House.

Since we were going to be having the boys room together, it seemed like a great time to update this space for both of them!

For our Boys’ Nautical Shared Bedroom, we are going with an ocean theme.

Our older son has some major love for sharks and the sea. Plus, we already had an oar, so this seemed like a good place to start.

He also wanted some color on his walls. Not boring old white like his mom would pick out. After some deliberation, he settled on Silver Strand from Sherwin Williams. The name is a bit deceiving though since the color is actually green-gray color.

We are so excited to get this room wrapped up and I can’t wait to share the finished product!
