this anniversary trip was spent in palos altos, ca.

it was pretty dang perfect.

because i jusssst downloaded these photos from idaho a whole year later.

because my sweet edie pie still had a diaper and baby fat on her knees.

and because i can't believe it's really been a YEAR.

didn't we just drive 12 hours through the night and watch these incredible sunsets, like, yesterday?

because i really don't know what i posted about it way back when i did.

and because i have 111 pictures that need to go somewhere.

because when i look at these again and again, i feel happy, young, carefree..., alive.

because i want to remember.

oh, idaho, you stole this girl's heart. i can't wait to visit you again someday soon.

how long is eden's hair now? i just chopped it too. she is not into pictures these days. oh the two year olds!

my mom at the santa monica plane crash site a few months ago. so incredibly sad.

we got to bring my nephew, braden. isn't he the cutest?

sweet hat hair, molly. hahaha!

waving g'bye to daddy when he got a call

eden climbed to the top of this tower at least a dozen times. my poor mom chasing her. heheha.

this was one of of my husband's last shifts at this particular station, so we took full advantage on sunday & came to be tourists for the day. (he'll still be in santa monica, dont you worry, just moving to a busier station where it won't be as easy to visit.)

the day was full of lunch at urth cafe, a fun ride around the airport in the rig, squirting the fire hose, running a muck all around the station, dressing up in their duds & laughing til we cried, playing at the park, dinner at gilberts, & not hitting any traffic there or back! a bonus, trust me.

california weather right now is dang gorgeous & we couldn't of picked a better day to soak in the city.

i still look around when i'm there in awe of all God did to get us there. it was a long hard crazy road for sure, but one that stretched us & shaped us. it is definitely one of my favorite treats in life to watch my husband in his element at the fire station now. i felt pretty cool being next to a local celebrity at the park ;) plus, good lawd is he a looker in that uniform. ye-ow. makes me incredibly grateful that tim gets to work somewhere he loves & enjoys. thank you, Jesus!

1. it's 2014. what. how did that happen? i remember as a kid thinking about 2000ish things & the jetsons come to mind, no?
2. i love this little family of mine. i could cry.

4. i want to blog more this year again. i miss it. & my memory is getting worse by the minute. & boy do i enjoy looking back on the memories on this ol' thing. blogging, i'm coming back for ya.
5. i was trying to come up with a verse for this year. [i'm loving reading the one little word thing going around on instagram]. i think this year, even though it has been so so great in so many ways, i've been very careful. careful in my decisions, careful with my faith, etc. this year, God is calling me out of that. to stop being so darn careful. stop worrying about the what-ifs in life & just move. live. be. do. more spontaneity in him. calling me to stop holding back. to be free of everything that entangles me & slows me down. throw it off, molly! fix your eyes on me, molly! find your joy in me, molly! and that definitely starts with getting to know my Jesus more. i'm praying that i would fall in love with his word this year like never before. spirit of the living God, fall afresh on meeeeee!

i figured i better post these before i forget the moment.
blurry, instagram pics for the win.

our eden turned TWO a few weeks ago.
so we drove right past school & surprised the girls with a day at disneyland!
it was the best day ever. no lines. perfect weather.

some favorite things:
minnie mouse is her fave.
she is talking so much in her cute lil edie pie voice.
she is obsessed with me. & i kinda love it. momma's girl all the way.
she loves to read.
& play with her kitchen.
she could eat bananas all day. & apples. & cheese. & ice cream. so picky, this one.
she is pure ham. put her on a stage & she'll dance, sing, whatever you wish.
loves doggies. & kitties. does not take after her mother here. ha.
still takes a bottle for bed. don't tell.
obsessed with her pink blankie & paci. that's gonna be a fun one for sure.
would play with my phone all day if i'd let her.
her sister's are her bffs.
as soon as we pull in the church parking lot, she is crying no, no momma, nooooo. so sad.
her waddle/head tilt walk is the best. she always has a little pep in her step.

dear eden,

you are pure spunky sunshine & i'm so glad you're ours.
i don't want to forget the smell of your blankie.
or the way you always play with my face.
or suck that paci like it's your job.
your little pigtail knots, or your perfect little nose.
the way you ask for a cookie every time we pass the cookie jar.

this story is so beautiful. and could not have come at a better time for me. it brought me to tears because this guys words are what i crave more than anything in life. community. people building their stories. openness. vulnerability. no walls of defense. even if we've been hurt. some of my favorite parts [his words, not mine]: -------------------- worship is for every human being in this planet. in the kingdom of God there are no outsiders. we need to be careful to not allow hurt or cynicism to keep us from church, otherwise we end up like a branch taken from the fire, lifeless & cold. i know the pain we experience in life can be overwhelming, but we aren't meant to go through it alone.
the cross changes everything. we so desperately need the breath of God to bring us to life & light. Jesus wants to set the church on fire so the world can warm themselves around us and find light & safety. we are here on earth to be a home & refuge for the lost & broken. but first, we must learn the art of togetherness & celebration. we are the church. we are the hope on earth. to be on a journey as God's family, going through the highs & lows of life, suffering & laughing together that's what i want. not some holy huddle where we all pretend everything is okay, but a real community who believes in the God of miracles. but also in the God of the trials. that's what the world needs too! -------------------- AH. i've listened to it so many times. and i can cry a huge YES to it all. so gooooooood. praying this for myself. and for you too. can you tell i struggle just a bit with church today? a story for another day. :p pssst! you can buy their cd here.

the day before school started we went out on one last adventure.
the girls had been begging to go on a beach bike ride, so away we went.
little did we know we'd ride 5 miles from bolsa chica to huntington beach & 5 miles back.
10 whole miles! what.
the girls did so great. well, other than those 2 people ellie hit going down a hill. bah!
but seriously, great! a dang good day.

and then the day we'd been dreading for months.
we wanted the first grade part, just dreaded the whole waking up early part.
we're doing okay, too! we're alive! and up early! like a whole new worrrrrrld. sing with me... :)

and then that night, we had our annual back to school, fancy, shmancy dinner.
i burned the dinner, but we sure did laugh a lot. and my brownies were delicious. heh.

we had a campout.

with 8 little girls.

with the cutest decorations.

and an outdoor movie theater.

but mr. phone stealer has them.

back to my story...

my little 3 pound twins turned SEVEN in july.

time, will ya slow the heck down?! geez.

on their actual birthday, they wanted to go iceskating again.

so we picked up their lil' friend, dropped off the nunu, & away we went!

a little ring around the rosey on ice. no big deal.

one of my favorite pics right now. ellie & daddy, dancing away on the ice. swooooooon.

these girls bring SO much joy into our lives. i can't stand how big they're getting, but still love how innocent & sweet they are.

some things i want to remember about them:
-just the other day, they came home & said, "mom, everyone has their ears pierced in our class but us! can we get ours pierced?" guess where we're headed on friday? ;)
-and yesterday ellie asked if we could buy her a belt. i guess all the cool kids are wearing a belt these days? haha!
-ellie still likes her arms & face tickled at night.
-audrey slept walk the other night & almost peed in tim's laundry basket. her little bare hiney was stuck right in there & scared the kajeebies outta me!
-they asked me if i was ever going to have another baby the other day & i had to tell them no. it was sad.
-sometimes i listen to their conversations through the door at night. sometimes i'm rolling! and other times, i'm crying. they are the sweetest.
-they hold hands a lot. randomly. it's the sweetest.

they are so funny. they're at their first tennis lesson as we speak. hehe. i love them! i love them!

twins, man.
never knew the ride i was in for when my water broke at 32 weeks.
thank you Jesus for this crazy awesome blessing you knew about all along.

okay, so, i'm way behind on catching up thee ol' blog.

and now that i've lost my phone & a bunch of pics, i do solemnly swear, to post more of our days.

then i'll at least have them here, right?

let's start with the summer olympics.

every summer, the ca firefighters host a big olympic event with all kinds of sports.

it lasts a whole week & everyone usually stays at the host hotel & has lots of fun together!

this year it was at the harbor in beautiful san diego.

tim played ice hockey (duh), roller hockey (double duh), and filled in for softball here & there.

here's what i want to remember in pics...

audrey lost a tooth. another vacation tooth! makin' that toothfairy work!

a lot of car napping for eden. which meant a lot of car-sitting for momma.

breakfast dates with a&e's favorite friends.

tim's grandpa & mom came to watch one of the games :)

this pic has a story (thank you, audrey, for this lovely candid shot, btw). when tim & i were dating, he wanted to take me on a whale watching trip. i was so afraid of getting seasick, so he stopped & bought me some dramamine. we had some time to kill before the boat took off, so we walked around balboa park for a bit. well, long story short, we never made it to whale watching. i fell hard asleep under a tree right behind this pic. FOR TWO HOURS. darn dramamine straight knocked me out! haha. he loves to tell me this story. funny, tim.

the girls talked tim into renting one of these bike things. little did we know that IT WAS HARRRRD. holy workout people. but come on with eden in the front! ding!ding!

the prettiest sidewalks you ever did see. magical! i want these in my someday house.

we ended the trip with a day at coronado. perfection.

i honestly still can't believe we're a part of this fire family some days. it's still surreal to me after all the years it took for tim to get here. a lot of tears, and heartache, and waiting what felt like forever makes moments like these insanely humbling. God has blessed tim with this job in incredible ways. he gave tim the desire of his heart & we are forever thankful!

next up, a&e's birthday! (well, what's left on my phone anyway. boohoo.)

sad story of the day.

so tim took me on this sweet lil' overnight date the other day to palm springs.
as soon as we took off, his car broke down.
which led to us pushing his car to a nearby shop.
and walking to a rental car shop across the way in the blazing heat.

we laughed it off.
always an adventure with us.

should've taken it as a sign though.
but no-o.
we were determined to getaway.
just me&him.
in a bright electric blue hyundai rental car. yesssss.

everything was dandy.
soaked at the pool most of the day.
packed up for dinner & forgot my phone was on top of my towel.
got to our room.
dumped out my purse.
gone.
within minutes tim ran back to fetch it.
& IT WAS GONE.

we dumped every towel bin.
traced our steps.
scoured the pool.
called security.

gone.

not only gone, but gone & turned off.
i never ever turn my phone off.
ever.
so i knew that whoever took it, knew what they were doing.
and in a 5 minute period too.

[when your iphone is off, your iphone tracker will not work. yep. nope.
now you know.]

over 5,000 photos.
gone.
countless videos of eden's firsts.
gone.

my whole summer in adventures.
gone.
a&e 6th birthday.
our road trip to idaho.

sad story right?
don't cry. it's okay.

now the bummer to this is that my mac was full to the max.
wouldn't let me download any more.
and i procrastinated.
got the external drive A DAY before we left to download everything onto.
procrastinated some more.

never downloaded my pics.

oh, yes. i cried big crocodile tears.
the employees looked at me like i was a crazy nut.
but i don't think you really understand until it happens to you.

anyways, there's my sad story of the day.

tim tried so dang hard to not let it wreck our trip.
even though he knew i was so bummed out.
we had a dang good time anyways.
pretending to be all cop-like stealth for the guy we thought took it.
i even dreamed that night that we went to the dude's house & caught him red-handed. ha!

i know it's just a phone.
and there are so many bigger problems in the world.
BUT GOSH DARNIT I MISS MY IPHONE.
and i'm still praying that it's found. or turned on. so i can track it. muhahaaa.

lesson learned.
folks, download your pics.
pay the extra money for your iCloud storage to be bigger.
get an external drive.
learn from ME.
goshdarnit. even print them most of the time.
i have the worst memory & i'm gonna try so hard to remember all the memories this dude stole from me. thankful that instagram has at least a few snippets on there to remember.

hello, good ol' dusty blog.

how's it been 'round these parts?

sorry i've been away, but my computer won't let me download anymore pics.

annnnd we've been busy summer fun-havers over here.

i have so much to tell you about.

like how we went camping.

you saw the video, but man do i have a ton of pics.

i know! me! camping!

it was so much fun.

and how we road-tripped to idaho for 10 days.

country roads, take me home.

and how much God is teaching me, even when i'm the stubbornist most stubborn child in all the land.

but first things first, i turned 32 a month ago. gulp.

stop, i'm owning it.

and my friends spoiled me rotten.

the birthday week started with a concert to our faves, all sons & daughters.

i was a tad hyper. just a tad.

and then there were a whole lot of tears.

i'm fun like that.

but worshipping amongst your best friends will do that to ya.

and then, mrs. cannoli had a lil' swimmin' day for me.

i said no fuss.

but can nat & karis ever have a no fuss get together?

no-oo.

they spoiled me with banners! & cakes! & mini pies in a jar! & sangrias! & so much more.

edie pie even napped half the time we were there.

hallelujah dance!!!!

such a fun day. so blessed by them.

we interrupted the birthday fun-havin with a little ear tube surgery for the edes. she did so well. (well, except for the part where she came off the anesthesia kickin' and screamin' saying, all done! all done! bye bye! bye bye! for a half hour. but as soon as we left, she was like nothing ever happened. shew!) 3 kids down...we're like pros now. ;) hate that they have bad ears (ehem, TIM GENE!), but love that they can hear now for heaven's sake. and how cute is that itty bitty gown?

then, tim whisked me away to palm desert, just him & me.

(side note: we were totally fighting before we left, because i was so uncertain & uneasy about leaving eden after a surgery...and he couldn't get our money back etc., etc., but SO glad we made up & went. making ups the best part of a fight, eh?)

he spoiled me with a massage, a suite (ohh la la),

and a heck of a lot of pampering without any kids at our ankles. ;) bliss, i tell you.

are you still here?

good, i have one more birthday treat.

we got home for the desert, & karis picked me up for a night on the town.

so hip. and cool. and trendy. and goooood.

i met nat [kinda] through designing her blog, believe it or not.
it's complicated. lol.
& our friendship has just blossomed ever since.
[pretty much over stuffing our faces with our favorite rutabegorz, but whatever. no shame.]
i just love her to death.
she's a keeper.
knowing her heart & love for her husband & the Lord...watching them say they will keep trusting Jesus with their marriage, their lives...it was the best.

plus, i got a hot date night with my cute husband out of the deal.
and got to get all dolled up in a twirly skirt.
and laugh my butt off with some of my favorite people in the world.

tim: wanna go on a road trip next weekend to arizona?
me: what? really? sounds fun, but let me think about it.
tim: well, i kinda already booked the hotel.
and paid for my hockey tournament.
me: um...
tim: and i invited your mom to go too! she's the nanny ganny.
me: but your car just broke, and we just paid rent..., and... and...we have like 5 other trips coming up soon to save for!
tim: ARIZONA OR BUST BABY.

my husband is a fun haver.
& i am....well...., a planner. ;)
i love that he's spontaneous & makes me do things i wouldn't normally do.
he keeps me young and alive. hah!
i love him.

with that, a 5 and a half hour road trip to scottsdale, arizona.
which was more like 7 with our stops, but whatev.
just me, my momma, & 3 kids.
tim flew to az from work. how convenient. ;)

but we got this, right?
my mom was unsure.

in the car, on the road, by 7am.
stopped at a truck stop in lawd knows where for a potty break, annnnnd for audrey to get stung by a bee. she's a champ though.
another stop in blythe to let the kids stretch & eat some fries....and see my favorite melinda!
AND WE GOT THERE IN ONE PIECE!
eden even napped the last stretch which was AHmazing.

checked in & headed straight to the POOL! HALLELUJAH! AMEN! THANK YOU JESUS!

yup. my children. tweedle & deedle. so proud.

poor jet setter was out in 10 seconds flat.

this resort was legit. SO PRETTY, too. we got to have dinner overlooking this lake. and a bag pipe player would play as the sun went down every night. so romantical (with three children barking in your ear all night. hahaheho.) no really, it was awesome.

and this is what happens when you ask my mom to take a family picture. hahaa. gosh, i love her. also, ellie & audrey's faces are pretty entertaining these days.

my husband, the president. always makin' a friend somewhere.

there, got it. audrey pooping her pants, ellie whistling to the friendly people enjoying their wine, eden staring at daddy thinking are we done yet? and mommy & daddy freeze smiling for days. i love us.

i then tried to get one picture with my mom in it....and.....

yup.

SQUIRREL!

there. kinda.

tim & i made a deal, that i didn't have to go to any ice hockey games if i came. hehe. i could just stay at the pool all the good day long. WINNING.

eden slept horribly in her fancy, hard as a rock, complimentary pack-n-play.
so here we are at 630AM, risin' and shinin' and all that jazz.
audrey was thrilled about it.
and i love this picture so much.

the days were filled with waterslides, lazy rivers, food galore, & the good ol' hot sun.
my girls were in HEAVEN.

eden was addicted to this waterslide. more! more! she'd say. poor timmy had to go on it at least a hundred times.

and of course, i couldn't get enough of eden's little chunky thighed, trucker hat, self.
she is not into taking pictures these days though. so, ya. i take what i can get.

i was SO thankful my mom came & helped me. it was so nice to be able to enjoy the day without eden alllll daaaaaaay. she would take her to nap, walk her around the resort when she was over it, etc., etc. I LOVE YOU GANNY!!!!!

and then, there was the ride home.

WOMP.

we left too late.

it was hot.

eden was over it before it began.

there was traffic.

by hour EIGHT, we were all a tad grumpy, to put it nicely.

but we trucked along.

and kept smiling.

mostly.

except for the occasional, i will throw you out the window if you do that one more time...moments. teehee.

so thankful for a fun, spontaneous weekend away.
i loved you arizona.
you were clean, and nice, and maybe, just maybe, i'll drive your way again next year for the next hockey tournament...which i'm sure is already booked. TIM!

drinking iced tea. lots of iced tea.

feeling numb, blah, anxious, stir crazy in my heart (but totally found by Jesus! yay!)...more on that later, maybe.

appreciating this stage of motherhood. & my hardworking husband that gives me the gift of staying home with them everyday.

reading Jesus Calling, by sarah young. such a good daily dose of Jesus. i need more Jesus.

watching the hunger games for the first time. holy-terrifying-movie-of-my-life-batman. why didn't anyone warn me?!

going on a spontaneous, unplanned road trip friday for tim's hockey tournament. arizona heat or bust. gonna [hopefully] & FINALLY! meet my favorite heather, too. she happens to live 20 minutes away. so excited.

starting to get excited for my birthday. come on, june! let's do this, 32!

dreaming of our summer adventures.

waiting expectantly. (kept this one. i liked it.)

praying hard prayers. & that i don't throw my kids out the window on our road trip friday. & that my mom doesn't throw me out the window. & that tim has a safe flight & doesn't leave me with all these darn kids! hah!

sleeping in 'til 9 for 3 more months. dreading first grade when those days are finito.

remembering that God forgives me again+again while i figure it out. thankful for that.

wondering why my dear sweet eden will not nap today. ive tried FOUR TIMES. and still, she sings in there. maybe it was that coke she stole from me at lunch? sigh.

wearing a bandana & a huge arse pimple.

getting addicted to costco's frozen banana slices. i've only had 2 packages today. derp.

loving this post. still. also, this one was so good too. had me thinking about my girls.

enjoying packages in the mail! (ditto!) oh, & sunshine. i'm really enjoying my backyard in the sunshine.

time goes so fast.
too fast.
and i know there will be a day when they don't need me as much.

when i can't be with them every second of the day.

when they won't run home & tell me every detail of our time apart.
because they'll be busy with their own plans & dreams.
whatever. lol.

so until then, i'm soaking up every darn second of
the good & the annoying that comes with motherhood.
rubbing backs, wiping bottoms & noses,
clipping itty bitty toe nails,
homework, hand holding,
bedtime stories, long, simple prayers.
the mundane.
the exciting.
all of it.

i don't want to take a minute of this for granted.
this.
motherhood.
my dream come true.

thank you audrey, ellie, & eden for making me a mother.
i know i'm not the best at it.
i know i say 'you're makin' me CRAZY!' more than i should.
but i sure do enjoy every single crazy second with you three.
you teach me so, so much.
and i love you more than you'll ever know.

i'm so lucky you're mine.

thank you Jesus for allowing me to be a mother x3.
it is such a beautiful thing.
one i don't take for granted.
and i'm forever thankful.

and happiest of days to my momma.
i'm so lucky you're mine, too.

and to tim's mom, too!
thank you for raising the best guy i know. we love you!
