Greenwich, CT (PRWEB) March 4, 2011

The moment you walk into the Javits Center in New York for the International Toy Fair, your senses are overwhelmed with the lights and sounds of this year’s new “hot” toys. Fancy new gadgets crawl and zoom and hover and fly all around as inventors and sales people try to lure you into their booths for a quick pitch. For the team at Zylie the Bear, the scene was new and exciting, but also terrifying and intimidating. Like everyone else they think to themselves, “how are we going to stand out with all this madness happening around us?”

But, of course, Zylie is no ordinary bear. After setting up a booth on the lower level, showcasing everything that The Adventures of Zylie the Bear has to offer, the mother and son team was open for business. There were Zylies everywhere, dressed in every outfit available, and showing off some new ones to boot. Her panda friend Shen was there too, in all his drumming and kung-fu glory. It was time to present the duo’s creation to the world, the world of badge-toting, swag-collecting, business card-wielding toy people.

While it may not seem like hard work, standing at a trade show booth for four days straight is exhausting. The dry air pumping through commercial vents starts to get to you by Day 2, and the concrete floors covered by a thin layer of industrial carpeting wear your feet down to the point where any lull in traffic becomes an opportunity to steal a seat and take a load off. But these conditions, tough as they may be, cannot faze a hungry startup fresh off the loading dock. And soon things began to turn Team Zylie’s way. All of sudden, as if a switch had been flipped, store owners and reps began flooding the 5500 aisle, stopping to hear a little more about this fun new bear. “Who is Zylie?” they would ask, and the team would tell them. What started as a shaky, unrehearsed spiel became a coherent and confident story. When you love your products like this team does, it’s easy to find a cadence because the passion is there. It’s simply a matter of overcoming the “trade show jitters.”

The team learned as they talked, finding what people really responded to in the Zylie story. As the story would unfold, visitors would perk up at the depth of the line, and identify with the inspiration of designing a teddy bear that can be dressed and played with like a doll. But it was Zylie’s character that resonated with passersby the most. The cute, fun, inquisitive nature of this 12-year-old bear from Manhattan took shape in their imaginations, and the lure of adventure began to set in as the team whisked through Zylie’s tales as if the journey were being played out right there in booth #5547.

At the end of it all, Zylie’s adventures had been told more times than could be counted, and the team’s time at the Javits was up. It was a bittersweet moment as they packed up their tables and bears, happy with the work they had done but sad that the adventure was over. Luckily for this mother and son, the adventure is only just beginning.

The Adventures of Zylie the Bear is a new line of 18″ plush bears designed to be dressed and played with like dolls, created by Mary Beth Minton and her son Matt McCarty. The line comes with fashionable outfits and a series of educational children’s books.

Lawrence, MA (PRWEB) March 4, 2011

NextWorth (http://www.NextWorth.com), a leader in consumer electronics upgrades and trade-ins, today highlights its high trade-in values for the first generation iPad™ to help upgrade to the recently announced iPad 2. With NextWorth, it’s easy to trade in used electronics either online at NextWorth.com, or in Target stores nationwide.

NextWorth historically provides industry-leading trade-in values for both online and in-store customers. With the price of a new iPad 2 at 9, consumers can earn at least half the cost toward their upgrade – and up to 0 – by trading in an original model. There is no need to trade-in your accessories with NextWorth – consumers can keep them and use the accessories with their upgraded device. At NextWorth.com, customers have the choice of cash or a gift card when they trade in. NextWorth offers FREE, fully-insured UPS shipping service to all online customers.

Apple products tend retain value more than other brands, and the iPad is no exception. NextWorth provides great values for used iPads that are in “Light Wear” condition (the unit is fully functional, the display is flawless but the back might have slight scratches). Current trade-in values on NextWorth for iPads with “Light Wear” are on average 9% higher than other values offered in the marketplace (as of 3/3/2011)*:

iPad 16GB Wifi: 5
iPad 32GB Wifi: 5
iPad 64GB Wifi: 0
iPad 16GB Wifi + 3G: 8
iPad 32GB Wifi + 3G: 0
iPad 64GB Wifi + 3G: 0

Consumers are encouraged to act quickly. Historically, trade-in values of the previous generation gadget tend to decline up to 45% when a new product is made available.

About NextWorth

Headquartered just outside Boston, Massachusetts, NextWorth is a leader in consumer electronic upgrades and trade-ins with a mission of promoting reuse and recycling.
Denver, CO (PRWEB) March 7, 2011

Smartphones are quickly becoming the fashionable (and simplest) way for thieves to steal private data. Case in point: Google was recently forced to remove 21 popular Android apps from it’s official application website, Android Market, because the applications were built to look like useful software but acted like electronic wiretaps. At first glance, apps like Chess appear to be legitimate, but when installed, turn into a data-hijacking machine that siphons private information back to the developer.

In response to this new threat facing iPhone, BlackBerry, Droid and Windows Phone users, identity theft expert John Sileo has just released “The Smartphone Survival Guide: 10 Critical Security Tips in 10 Minutes.”

“Once you download a Trojan app” says Sileo, “the thief has more control over your phone than you do. Your privacy is an open book… your identity, contact list, files, emails, texts, passwords… all of it. This doesn’t just threaten the individual phone owner, it threatens the organizations they work in and the data they handle every day.”

At the heart of the problem is the breathtaking convenience and efficiency provided by mobile phones that have become “Smart” because they also function as computers, books, GPS devices, payment systems, web browsers, radios, iPods and so much more. Unfortunately, blinded by the thrill and functionality of the latest app, users rarely take the time to vet the software that can be installed in seconds, from anywhere.

“There are no significant barriers to entry, for either us OR the thieves,” says Sileo of the app-based model of acquiring new software. “You can read about an app on a web page, download it and be using it in under a minute. And you probably didn’t even have to pay for it… at least with cash.” You’re paying dearly, Sileo maintains, by trading away private information, surfing habits, bank account numbers or company financials.

The Smartphone Survival Guide outlines the major threats posed by mobile phones with internet access and gives a range of solutions for drastically lowering risk. Sileo points out that most data stolen off of Smartphones isn’t just a technology problem:

“Despite the intoxicating power of technology, the underlying problem is always a human problem. Don’t waste energy trying to fix the gadget – that’s someone else’s responsibility. Focus on the behaviors that allow employees to maintain a healthy balance between productivity and security. Deliberate, focused training has the highest ROI, not obsessing over the latest data leakage.”

The Smartphone Survival Guide describes a range of solutions in a quick and accessible fashion, such as:

Turn on auto-lock password protection and corresponding encryption.
Enable remote tracking and remote wipe capabilities in case the phone is lost or stolen.
Minimize app spying with security software and smart habits.
Customize geo-location and application privacy permissions.
Be wary of free apps – users are almost always paying with private data.
Before downloading an app, ask a few questions: How long has the app been available – long enough for someone else to detect a problem? Is the publisher of the app reputable? Have they produced other successful smartphone applications, or is this their first? Has the app been reviewed by a reputable tech journal?

Smartphones and the data on them are obviously at risk, but it remains to be seen whether users will alter their behavior before it’s too late. If not, it will be but one more example of human choices leading to technological data hijacking.

John Sileo is the President of The Sileo Group and the award winning author of four books, including his latest workbook, The Smartphone Survival Guide (http://www.thinklikeaspy.com/store/smartphone-survival-guide/). He speaks around the world on identity theft, online reputation and influence. His clients include the Department of Defense, Pfizer and Homeland Security.
Franklin Park, IL (PRWEB) March 7, 2011

WHAT: Boaters in the U.S. and overseas are gearing up for the season with innovative products that make their favorite pastime safer and easier. The Landing Loop is rapidly building a reputation among boaters who say they “don’t know how I lived without it.” This extendable, lightweight docking device lets boaters tie up safely and effortlessly. No more leaning over the boat; no more dockside injuries. (One boater even claims the Landing Loop saved his marriage by eliminating the tension associated with docking their boat!)

The Landing Loop online catalog just expanded with the addition of a Solar Rail Light, a sturdy light that can be easily installed to the railing of a boat. It turns off and on automatically and has an integrated solar panel for automatic recharging. There’s also a manual OFF/ON switch so it can be turned off for navigation. It’s an ideal night-time safety item for boaters – and a great accompaniment to the Landing Loop. The items are sold separately.

Another popular Landing Loop item you may already know about is the Snap Stretcher, which makes those shrunken canvas boat covers infinitely easier to snap into place.

HOW: To use the Landing Loop, boaters simply make a slip knot at the end of their docking line. They extend the pole as needed, place the frame over the cleat, piling or post and pull the line tight. The Solar Rail Light easily attaches to a boat rail.

WHY: The Landing Loop is a useful, easily stored tool for boaters of all ages – especially in high winds, fast currents and choppy waters. Allen Greenberg invented the product after watching too many people struggle to dock their boats. After introducing the Landing Loop to an eager market, Allen decided to continue filling the void for boating tools, gifts and gadgets. Today, he and his business partner operate their growing business online, with customers from all over the U.S. and Australia.

WHERE: Boaters across the U.S. and Australia are shopping the Landing Loop’s online catalog at http://www.landingloop.com.

WHO: The Landing Loop was co-founded by two seniors with a passion for boating and a head for innovation:

Allen Greenberg, a 70-year-old retired businessman from the retail carpet industry.
Roger Leyden, a 78-year-old inventor and manufacturer with numerous U.S. patents.

Landing Loop’s co-founders intend to continue expanding the catalog with quality products that improve the leisure lives of boaters everywhere.

About Landing Loop

Landing Loop was founded with a mission of providing quality, innovative products that improve the leisure lives of boaters everywhere. The Landing Loop’s namesake product is leading the way in boat dock safety by making it easy to tie up to the dock without leaning over the water. A full catalog of items is available online, including unique gifts and gadgets for boaters of all ages. For more information, visit http://www.landingloop.com or call (800) 250-9545.

Boston, MA (PRWEB) March 9, 2011

With 2011’s peak wedding season approaching, newly launched personalizedforweddings.com helps couples turn their engagement, wedding or honeymoon photos into dozens of innovative personalized home décor items, wedding keepsakes and photo gifts. Couples can add pictures from Facebook, Flickr, SmugMug, Picasa or their computers to products like wedding stationery, save the date magnets, gifts, photo books and canvas prints and choose from a library of wedding designs to create matching items.

Billions of digital photos are captured and uploaded every month to sites like Facebook – many of them by nearly or newly weds. Couples spend about 00 on wedding photography, according to The Knot’s Real Weddings Survey. With about 2 million weddings taking place in the US each year, this leaves millions of wedding pictures to be shared and displayed in creative ways.

Modern couples are leaning towards trendy alternatives to display wedding pictures, turning them into home accents and wedding gifts for friends, family, bridesmaids, groomsmen and each other. Personalized for Weddings offers a wide selection of products that span pre and post-wedding events. A library of exclusive wedding designs helps brides create matching or coordinating photo gifts, stationery and favors. “As a newlywed and wedding blogger, I am impressed by all the fun and creative products Personalized for Weddings has to offer,” says Heather Walrath, creator of the popular Bicoastal Bride blog and Editor in Chief of the top-ranked Weddzilla Blog. “Designing my personalized water bottle and canvas print was quick and easy, and is the perfect way to display and preserve our wedding memories at home or on-the-go.” Walrath was one of the select few members of a launch focus group program, who tried out the site and chronicled their personalization experiences.

Wedding photographers, too, have noticed the shift in trend. “Gone are the days of big, white wedding albums. The modern bride and groom want to display their photos in ways that are updated and fresh- coffee table books with magazine style design, large canvas prints, and digital slideshows have all become very popular,” asserts Sarah Yates, a wedding and portrait photographer in Los Angeles, CA. Wedding photographers are beginning to offer stylish photo books or wedding wall art as part of their packages to entice the new generation of wedding couples.

Personalized For Weddings prints customers’ wedding invitations, photo gifts, canvas and other items in a reputed, state of the art Personalization Center. The Center, trusted for its excellence in color reproduction and printing quality, has been making personalization possible for over a decade.

For couples seeking to personalize various aspects of their upcoming wedding, Personalized For Weddings offers the following ideas:

Photo announcements such as save the date cards or magnets and engagement announcements are easy to create and stand out of clutter, helping guests truly save the date. Couples can create ‘magnet packs’ of Save the Date announcements on the site.
Framed or wrapped canvas prints, framed posters and wedding photo books are classy ways to preserve wedding memories as home décor and also make thoughtful, lasting gifts for close friends and family.
Photo jewelry and photo t-shirts are especially suitable for bachelorette parties and bridal showers. Solid zinc photo charm jewelry is tarnish-resistant and makes a great honeymoon souvenir.
Photo skins for phones, music players and laptops make trendy, affordable gifts for wedding guests. They’re also great for showing off honeymoon pictures. Photo skins may be removed easily and replaced often, keeping gadgets looking new.
Photo mugs, personalized water bottles and keepsake boxes make practical and beautiful wedding souvenirs. Photos are printed on high quality products and guaranteed to last.
Photo luggage tags, thank you cards and photo moving announcements carry the personalized wedding theme beyond the big day.

More personalization tips:

Save your photo projects online to get a second opinion from your mother, friend or fiancé.
Create thank you cards, moving announcements and personalized wall décor that carry your wedding theme and flavor beyond the actual ceremony.
When creating new projects, view and use your saved pictures from previous projects or add new ones from Facebook, Flickr, Picasa, SmugMug or your computer.

(Vocus/PRWEB) 10 March 2011

With many men avoiding fashion shopping where possible – often leaving it to their partners – a new brand on the North East high street is aiming to alleviate their retail woes through a unique combination of aspirational incentives.

As well as bringing a number of high-end fashion labels to the region for the first time, alongside a stable of designer classics, Social Store, in Yarm, will also showcase the latest music, technology and gadgets, making it much more than just a shopping experience, but a lifestyle.

The retailer, which runs the website socialstore.com as well as the store on Yarm High Street, is expected to turnover close to £500,000 in its first year as its fills a gap in the market for designer men’s fashion in Yarm, while also enjoying soaring online sales.

The concept was created by Howard Egglestone, a retail entrepreneur who has operated a number of successful brands in the region in the past; however it will be 25-year-old fashion enthusiast and denim guru, Benn Geldart, who will be the face of the store.

Mr Geldart who has quickly worked his way up to store manager and buyer from humble beginnings as a shop assistant, said: “Social Store is much more than a designer goods shop. It is a relaxed, sociable place for shoppers to soak up and sample the fashionable, cultural and technological lifestyle which men aspire to have.

“We specialise in finding the perfect fit for our customers and, whatever age they are, we will find the right clothing for them.

“We are aiming to constantly evolve and move forward as the demands of shoppers change.”

Social Store will stock several brands that have not been available in Yarm before, such as indie music star Liam Gallagher’s brand Pretty Green, Edwin Jeans, Denham and J Lindeberg.

The shop also plans to host a series of events, such as ‘meet the designer’ evenings, live music and fashion shows in the coming months.

It is also set to introduce iPads into the shop to allow customers to order items online if a certain designer’s range is not available in the store.

Meanwhile, Mr Geldart – a self-confessed denim fanatic – has created a ‘wall of denim’ in the shop which explains different styles of jeans on a large chalkboard.

As the buyer for the business, he regularly attends exhibitions across Europe and most recently visited Berlin for the Bread & Butter buyer’s event.

The store currently employs four people, with plans to increase that this year, while its website has enjoyed exponential growth in the short time since its launch, with month-on-month sales doubling each month since the turn of the year.
