Sebastian's Cookie Dough Chilly Burger in my hand!! Bought this at The Market in Tiffany building along Leviste st., Salcedo Village, Makati. Got it for P130 which I can hardly finish because it's so big! Shared it with a friend. Dive bars also available. :)

What differs this one from the others is that, its mochi wrapper is so thin you don't have to wait for 5-10mins for it to thaw. Which I think is a good thing. Waiting for a mochi ball to thaw is kinda anti-climactic for me, if you know what I mean. P85 for a pack of 2. Nomnomnom.

In the busy city of Makati, along the street of Benavidez, I discovered this small but interesting restaurant called Spring by Ha Yuan. It has a bright interior (which doesn't show on my photos much because I was with my trusty iPad #explain) and the fact that you can see their "taho and lumpia bar" gives them a plus. It's actually appetizing to look at.

We started our dinner with a plate of Poached Shrimp and Spinach Dumplings. These were generously stuffed and each dumpling is big too. A plate of 5pcs costs P90.

The next we had was their specialty called Maki Mi. It's a noodle dish with lots of tender pork loin in thick soy broth. Thumbs up for the noodles but the broth is too thick for me. I prefer eating this with chili sauce. It's very filling and this bowl, for P140, is good enough to share.

I always end my dinner with a nice dessert and this Piggy Red Bean Pao is really nice to look at. Too cute to murder but I ate its nose first anyway. P40 each. I bet kids and the kids at heart will love this.

It's a nice place to dine since it kinda takes you away from crowd of the mall. Eat well people!

Spring by Ha Yuan
Ground Level, BSA Mansion
Benavidez St., Legaspi Village,
Makati City
Tel: 403-1508

I'll drink to that!

RAMen Cravings

Ramen is one those food that perfectly matches a rainy weather, and right at this very moment, I'm craving for it.

I had this bowl from Kojiro when I went out of town to visit my folks one weekend. It's a small food stop along the small street of B. Reyes in Silang, Cavite. I wish I had a photo of their facade. Anyway, I think it's one of the better ramens that I've had so far. And for the unbelievably jaw-dropping price of P70, it's a must-try!

I also remember them selling these Korokes. I first tried them four years ago and from then, they've become a fave of mine. Yummy ones. Must have them again but since it's all ready half past 3 in the morning. On a Friday rush hour in the afternoon, we flew from Manila and bid our offices goodbye. It's a long overdue, and I must say that it's a well deserved vacation too. Got in Cebu around 9:30pm and I was so giddy meeting up our friends there to have dinner. A lovely dinner indeed.

The next day, we headed to Dumaguete to meet a friend's family. Staying at this fancy hotel called, Florentina Homes, I was in awe. A perfect place to date too, since Gabby's Bistro has a really nice cozy ambience.

During dinner, I had the best Sizzling Bulalo ( I think they call it Pochero in the Visayas) that I had in my life! This one's from Royal Suites Inn. I had the best Quadruple Chocolate Cake here too but unfortunately, I already finished it even before I can take a photo of it. Sorry.

The next day, we headed to Sans Rival Bistro to try their Mock Fillet Mignon, their famous Sans Rival and get some Silvanas for pasalubong to a good friend in Cebu, and as obvious as it gets -- all we did in Dumaguete was to eat, then sleep, then eat again, take a nap, drink, sleep and eat again. Can't help it. You can't blame us either.

Headed back to Cebu in the evening, had lechon for dinner and had a night cap before hitting the sack. My flight to Manila, is at lunch, so I had to wake up pretty early to roam around Cebu for a while and to have breakfast with a good friend. At lunch, I was dropped off at the airport and I was having separation anxiety while checking in. I wish I should've stayed for another day, at least in Cebu. It was indeed a good vacation. I can't wait to go back. I went out with my college pals for a good hangout. Though Alabang is in Signal no.1, we still pushed through with our plans. Anyway, after grabbing lunch at Tempura, we decided to spend our spare time at Timezone! Woopee! A chill kwentuhan was spent at Starbucks (grande strawberries and cream frap and belgian waffle for me!!!), til that day turns to night. Great old pals. Great old company.

Sinful Macarons

I got these macarons from Sinfully by Makati Shangri-La located at the 2nd floor of Greenbelt 5. And just before going home I decided to get myself some snack and then I saw the flashing sign of Kenny Roger’s Roasters of the Newport City. I had my dinner first but what catch my eyes was, they are now serving creme brulee and panna cotta. I’m not a fan of mangoes so i did go for the creme brulee. For Php50 it’s actually not bad! And since I have my new trusty iPhone with me, I thought of putting its camera to the food spotting test! and here’s my creme brulee!

Awesome! :)

Kenny Rogers Roasters
http://www.kennys.com.ph

Tangerine Tree

I received a gift from a friend last night and I thought it was something from a high-end store! For the packaging, I’ll give this business a high-five!

So inside are 12pcs of luscious food for the gods! Juggling a day job, a business and sidelines is tougher than I thought! And I’m pretty much happy that I got to escape one night with my friends to have a nice dinner!

I’ve been hearing a lot about how great Wee Nam Kee’s chicken rice is so we decided to treat ourselves there. There was a line outside and we pretty much waited around 30minutes for us to be seated. Don’t worry pals, it’s worth the wait.

A friend recommended us to get Wee Nam Kee’s Steamed or the Roasted chicken. Anyway to avoid confusion on what to eat, we ordered both steamed and roasted chickens! Yum!

These are both delicious dishes but I personally like the steamed chicken better. It goes well with the mixture of soy sauce and pounded ginger. I was a little hesitant eating the steamed chicken at first but surprisingly, it’s very tender and flavorful! I’m not surprised why this gets a 2-thumbs up recommendation from friends.

Each table has its own tray of condiments. You can either choose to eat your wonderful dishes with soy sauce, pounded ginger or chili or have your own mixture according to your taste buds’ preferences.

We also ordered WNK’s pork chop. Breaded pork slices with a sweet and sour sauce on top.

Your whole WNK experience will not be complete if you don’t order their chicken rice! I like this so much! I had 2 cups! So yeah this is a good choice pairing it with their gorgeous dishes.

So there you go! After taking photos of yourselves and your loved ones in the beautiful Ayala Triangle in Makati, you might wanna try Wee Nam Kee.

Happy Eating!

Wee Nam Kee’s Hainanese Chicken Rice
Restaurants at the Ayala Triangle Gardens
Makati Avenue, Makati City, Philippines
Tel. 846.8924
Facebook Page: Wee Nam Kee
Wee Nam Kee PH on Twitter

LIQUORE

Our business is now on the run! I had called friends and suppliers around the Metro that I learned that for custom made boxes, a minimum of 1000pcs – 3000pcs is required. Thankfully my officemates recommended KartON, our supplier of the iPod boxes that we used for a valentine event this year. They can supply you assembled boxes and most importantly, they do custom made boxes in lower volumes.

I am sharing this with you because I know how hard it is finding the right supplier, and yeah, they made our glorious Liquore boxes too! :)

KartON offers a wide range of stuff. From gift boxes, to notebooks, to picture frames and you can even have them customized your wedding invitations.

I am happy for choosing KartON as my supplier and having premium quality items from them will definitely make any customer satisfied whether for personal use or business.

KartON Inc.
Level 2, Greenbelt 5
Ayala Center, Makati City
Tel. 728.6266
Fax 837.6267
http://www.kartonpaper.com/

Cerealicious Café

I was grateful to be invited to the grand opening of the Cerealicious Café in Megamall last Saturday! I am overly excited to come then because I’ve been a fan of Cerealicious bowls for over 2 years now. Introduced by my officemate, Khris, it became a regular treat for us to drop by Cerealicious Greenhills every time that we’re gonna have lunch there.

Started their humble beginnings in 2005, a group of 5 friends thought of serving cereals in a brand new way. And from there, the first cereal bar opened in the University of Santo Tomas in January 2006.

What caught my attention when I first visited Cerealicious was their menu. They serve from Pirates of the Cadbury-ean to Jelly Maguire to the Banana Jones and the Temple of Doom. Like c’mon! Who would not want to try cereal bowls with the coolest names ever? And if they are familiar to your ears, this is because these titles came from blockbuster movies that you watched. Awesome right? You can get a small “Trailer” bowl for Php60 or the big “Blockbuster” bowl for Php120.

I was so glad when I saw in their facebook page that they opened a café and that they are now serving sandwiches, pasta, entrées, salads and a lot more. Take note – everything has cereals on it!

Crissy Balatbat, my goodie good friend from Cerealicious made me try 2 of their entrées. So diggin’ starts now!

First, the Bubba Shrimps – Php185

Southern style shrimps served with their special Gambas Paprika sauce. This is served with herbed rice too! This is heaven. Crissy was in front of me when this vanished into thin air! Haha. I like their sauce. It brings a taste of Mexico to my senses. And i love it that the shrimps are very easy to eat. So if you guys are planning to try something new at Cerealicious Café, you have my recommendation on this!

Second is the Creamy Chicken Casserole – Php145

Look! Rice Crispies on top! Sweet!
It’s a new way on how to enjoy your favorite chicken vegetable dish. I like it that it has cubes of cheese which makes it creamier. Served with herbed rice as well. The rice crispies adds texture to the dish. A crunch -- which makes it more interesting. Not too salty, it’s just perfect. Heavy too! So this delightful entrée can be shared by two.

After I’m done eating my entrées, of course, I will not leave until I get what I loved first on them. A cereal bowl! Woooooh!

A Blockbuster Bowl of my favorite Hurt Loacker! Everyone should try this! Seriously! I mean it! This bowl has Milo Balls, Loacker Choco Wafers and M&Ms! Tempting huh? What makes a bowl of Cerealicious more special is their “Snow Milk”. If you pour milk on your cereals at home, Cerealicious has their Snow Milk at the bottom of every bowl. It’s like ice cream slash snow cone slash frozen milk. What’s in it is their secret of course but whatever this Snow Milk has, its for the win!

Cerealicious Café is a place for the whole family! Whether you’re a kid or a kid at heart. I’m pretty sure you’ll enjoy this place as I did and have fun diggin’ on those cereal bowls and come back again again and again.

Thank you Crissy Balatbat and to the whole Cerealicious family for inviting me over. It was such a pleasure! :)

Cerealicious Café
http://www.cerealicious-ph.com/

SOLO: Teacher’s Pet

This entry is a break from food blogging! And since we’re already out, we decided to eat somewhere new. Crisostomo. A restaurant that serves delicious Filipino Cuisine.

Salo Salo Sari-Saring Sinugba – Php1200
Since there are four of us we decided to get this plate. It’s a feast to the eyes and eating was just fantastic. I especially liked the liempo and the BBQ but the bangus lacks a bit of flavor but on the other hand, everything else on this plate is superb!

The platter comes with four condiments and Atchara Ibarra.

I had a full tummy after indulging on this wonderful treat! I will definitely go back with friends and share the experience and pride of Philippine dining.

Started their operations in December 2009, MC Sling has been a chill out place for yuppies. Owned by Maria Corazon Eclipse, she designed the recipes of the bar being a food fan herself. And since Maricor is also in the wine business, wine is also served by them. This adds up a touch of sophistication to the place, as my friend Honey said. Anyway let’s start digging! :D

Beef Salpicao – Php170
Concocted with a secret base sauce, the taste is somehow comparable to bistek but this is sautéed in lots of garlic! Perfect as pulutan or viand matched with a cup of rice.

Chicken Wings – Php180
When we got to the place, we asked the waiters on what food would they recommend. And in unison, they said the Chicken Wings. Cooked like buffalo wings, 10pcs of sweet and spicy chicken is served per order. It comes with mayonnaise dripped with their special chicken sauce.

Double Pork Chop – Php170
Two roasted pork chops drizzled with a very nice herbed gravy. The meat is tender and very tasty. You can taste the rosemary and sage on the gravy which makes it stands out from the other gravies that I’ve tried. You should try eating the meat together with the tomatoes. It’s fantastic!

Shrimp Pasta – Php180
A generous serving that can be shared by two. It taste like puttanesca but without the capers. The bell pepper goes well the fresh tomatoes and shrimps. Served with generous amount of parmesan cheese and slices of wheat bread. For its price, it’s very reasonable.

Jalapeño Cheese Sticks – 170
If you’ll visit MC Sling, you should definitely try this. I was actually hesitant to try this at first because this might be too hot for my taste buds. But on the contrary, this is the bomb! Breaded jalapeño chili peppers stuffed with melted cheese, drizzled with mayo and fried to that delightful crispiness! Craving? :)

Red wine was served after our delightful meals. A Viña Albali 2003 from Spain. Honestly, I don’t have much knowledge about wines and I’m happy that the owner was giving us some facts last night. The darker the wine, the more bitter it is. And that white wine is older than red because red wines become white or clear in color once it reached a certain age. Amazing.

And of course, MC Sling will not be called MC Sling without the Slings.

For those of you alcoholics out there like me. You should try their Florida Sling which costs Php110 a glass or get a pitcher for Php350. A mixture of gin, pineapple juice and cherry brandy. Sweet, but you’ll feel the alcohol kicking in afterwards! And for those of you beer drinkers, like me (again), you can get a bucket of 6 for Php190 with free peanuts or prawn crackers. Now go there and start drinking!

Thanks MC Sling for having us! That was one fun fun night! :)
This was the last day that my friend-slash-housemate, Patricia, will be staying in the Philippines. She flew to Singapore last Monday to try her luck there. :( Anyway, Paul, Myke, Pat and I decided to have a good lunch then before she leaves the next day.

Serendra. We decided to eat there. In a Kapampangan restaurant called Abé. The restaurant isn’t a total stranger to me since I’ve been seeing it already, though this will be my first time to eat there. The restaurant’s full when we get there so we had to wait for a few minutes outside and fortunately, it’s their 4th year anniversary! So we had free ice creams from Arce and Abé while waiting for our seats.

Seated. First timer – so I’m taking Paul’s recommendations on what are we gonna order.

Binukadkad na Pla Pla – Php365
An overgrown tilapia, butterflied and fried to crispiness! It’s served with mustasa leaves and balo balo relish, which is buro fermented rice, shrimps, ginger, cooked in olive oil. I personally like the relish, it’s not that strong, kinda tangy and the kick of the ginger matches the fish very well.

Lamb Adobo – Php395
I never thought that Lamb goes well if it’s cooked as adobo. And yes, it does, and IT’S REALLY GOOD! Lamb shoulders cooked the adobo way is my new personal favorite, just like Bencab! Very tender meat and the generous amount of toasted garlic on top adds up to its perfection.

Kare Kare a la Bistro Burgos – P475
I’m really not a fan of Kare Kare, not until this came along. Seriously, this was just the bomb! I like the creaminess of the sauce. Actually the sauce alone can stand as your viand with a cup of steamed rice. That’s how tasty it was. The ox tail was tender as well. And of course, a kare kare isn’t complete without the bagoong, and their version of the bagoong has been cooked in low-fire for 12hours. Now, tell me if that’s not enticing enough.

We ordered ourselves steamed rice to match these delicious entrées. And for the price of Php55 each, you can eat all the rice that you want.

I’m glad that we shared our farewell lunch for Patricia in Abé. The experience was such a delight and yes, it is where good friends dine. :)

Halloween is in the air and here are luscious doughnuts to match the season, the Krispy Kreme way. The Krispy Skremes! *evil laughs*

Khris and I have been trying to get all four doughnuts since last week and today is our lucky day. Though a storm is currently bashing Manila, it didn’t stop us to get what we’ve been craving for. So, we went off from the office early to drop by the nearest Krispy Kreme branch for doughnuts and coffee. *grins*

We started with the most interesting doughnut, “The Skull”
It’s a strawberry-filled doughnut with a vanilla icing face and chocolate icing details. Among the four, this is the most delicious for us.

Next is the cutest of them! “The Crazy Pumpkin”.
It’s so cute I don’t wanna split it in half. But we did anyway. This doughnut isn’t filled with anything inside but the icing on top makes up for it. Besides, it’s cute!! Did I already tell you that it’s cute?

“The Spider Web.”

This doughnut is filled with creamy vanilla icing. Chocolate icing on top, with more vanilla icing for the spider web design. Perfectly paired with hot coffee.

And last but not the least, “The Halloween Sprinkles.”

Original glazed doughnut dipped in chocolate icing with orange candy sprinkles! By this time, I’m having a sugar-rush! Haha! But who cares? It’s Krispy Kreme!

Each doughnut costs Php42, but you can get a dozen for the whole family for the price of Php365. Grab your boxes now! Available until October 31, 2010. Happy Halloween!

Just looking on their vast choices of flavors astonishes my taste buds. Anyway I like gelatos better than ice cream because its denser, its more flavorful and creamier than regular ice creams. According to About.com, gelatos usually contain more fat than ice creams but from what I know, Gelatissimo’s sorbets are 100% fat free and 90% – 97% fat free for premium dairies. Anyway who cares, if you get fat, just buy a bigger pair of jeans. LOL

Yesterday, while I was taste sampling gelatos, I noticed that there are new selections. They call it the “Yumminissimo Yoghurt Gelato”, offering yoghurt-flavored gelatos, garnished with Nestlé Fruit Selection Yoghurt cups! Cute! Available in Mango, Wild Strawberry and Berry. Also available in peach from another brand but I forgot to take photos of it. Sorry. :(

All along I thought they were yoghurts blended with gelato but these are not exactly yoghurts, they are creamy gelato that was made to taste like yoghurts. Thanks Gelatissimo for correcting me on this. :)

I tried the Berry Yoghurt Gelato and it didn’t fail me! I just had the small cup for the price of Php110. Not bad. Since gelatos, as I’ve said, are denser than ice creams, A small cup is enough for you to get full. This is a perfect dessert for any day! ♥
It’s a bird!
No, it’s a plane!
No, IT’S A FRICKIN’ GIANT SHRIMP!!!

My officemate, Khris, told me that she brought shrimps for lunch, and to my surprise! What shrimps? They’re SHRIMPS or PRAWNS from Planet Gigantica or something! Haha They bought these last weekend somewhere in Calatagan, Batangas. The meat isn’t as tender as the usual shrimp. Look! (disregard the messiness of my plate) The meat almost looks like processed crab sticks. LOL. Anyway, just sharing folks! *munches*
