In case you didn't notice, I went with a bit of an Arrested Development theme this week. I am so, so, so unreasonably excited for the new season that is coming out on Netflix on my birthday! What a lovely present!

Today I have an ultrasound to check on how big this little (or not so little) baby is getting. I am measuring a bit ahead and they just want to check it out. Maybe our July baby will be ready to come out a little early. We better hurry up and decide on a name.

Home :: Front Yard

Last year I spent hours out in the front garden pulling up everything that was overgrown and crazy. We planted a few things and it looked much better but there was still a ton of room for improvement. This year my mom came over and helped us make the garden look much better once again. I think it will be a few years before it looks exactly the way we would like it to but every year it gets better and better. Here are a few looks at what's going on in the front of our house.

I am so in love with these pretty lilacs! My mom found a good deal at one of the garden centres and picked these up for us. I think they look so neat with the white around the edges. I am kind of obsessed with lilacs.

Oh yeah, and Farva was yelling at me while I was taking these photos. He really wanted to come out.

Please excuse our super old, dirty windows. They need to be replaced sometime soon.

Today I get to spend some time with Andrea and I am very excited to see her and get out of the house for the day. I'm off to make myself look presentable! Have a great Thursday!

Wow. It's been quite a long time since I have done an outfit post. It's mostly because I am running out of things to wear! This outfit has seen quite a lot of action in the past few weeks. Short dresses are my new long shirts. We have been having some really beautiful, warm weather lately so I don't think jeans will be an option for much longer. Already it is a stretch most days!

I am really happy with my slightly shorter hair. I gave myself a haircut a little while ago and I can easily get away with letting my hair air dry and just do it's thing. It was getting too long and stringy and it was too difficult to style without using heat. So much better now!

I hope everyone has a great Wednesday. This week is flying by because of the long weekend, I can't believe it is Wednesday already!

Projects :: Mario Mushroom Crochet Blanket/Rug

I am so excited to share this finished project with you guys! A few years ago Becky posted about a pixelated Mario mushroom blanket and I thought it was the coolest thing ever. Fast forward to our friends having a baby in January and decorating his room Super Mario style. Then fast forward about 5 months later when I finally finished this gift for them.

I am so happy with the way this blanket/floor covering turned out. I say blanket/floor covering because really, you can use it as either. I found the pattern over here on Pixelated Mushroom. I used my own granny square pattern but used the provided grid to know how many of each colour to make and the pattern to attach them in.

This crochet Mario mushroom is one of my favourite things that I've made! It took quite a long time but it was totally worth it.

Pregnancy :: 32 Weeks

Time is really starting to fly by as I get closer to the end of my pregnancy. I can't believe that my due date is in less than 2 months. I am getting even more excited than I already was.

This past week Ivan and I worked on the baby room some more and put up mirrors, assembled the change table, found curtains and decided on the layout of the room. It is looking really awesome so far, we both love the room so much! I will share photos once it is completely finished, which should be within the next few weeks.

I don't have too much else to say this week, other than that I have started wearing some of my shorter dresses as shirts with jeans underneath. Most of my dresses that are stretchy in the boob area are on the shorter side so they need something underneath them now that my belly is taking up more room. It's working for now!

I am sooo sleepy today! We were out late at Ivan's work party last night and I have already been back to sleep but I'm still pretty tired. I just need to get going and start doing things to wake up I think. The house needs to be vacuumed and tidied so I should probably start with that.

Home :: Baby Room Peeks

Ivan and I went from feeling like we have so much time to get the baby room ready to feeling like we better hurry it up a little bit. We will probably have it mostly finished up within the next month but for now here are a few peeks at what's going on in there right now.

We got such a great deal on both of these pairs of shoes. The black pair is pretty small and the greenish grey pair will be for when he is older and can actually walk.

Our diapers are patiently waiting to be prepped. We get our change table on Friday so after that is set up I will wash them and put them in their place. I love the cute colours the diaper covers come in!

Some clothes waiting to be washed. I'm not sure how much clothing we need or even really how big he will be when he's born so it's hard to judge how much we need in what size. We have some basics and I'm assuming we will be able to just pick up what we need as we go along.

Crib sheets! These are also waiting to be washed.

These are the fun mirrors that we got. They are thin and just attach with adhesive so we are thinking of sticking them to the sliding closet doors. We might pick up a few more and do three on each door. There will also be a lot more of those little crochet circles and I will probably string them together and hang them somewhere in the room. I am the kind of person who needs to see the room together (all the big stuff in it) before I can decide where to put decoration type things.

I am so excited for this room to come together. I think it is going to be so fun! One thing that I am obsessed with is adding plants to the room. We will be keeping the room door closed most of the time so it will be one of the few rooms that we would be able to keep plants in. Pinny is a plant eater but I'm hoping she will grow out of it so that we can add plants to other rooms as well.

I can't wait to show the progress as this room becomes complete! Today I am going to work on the baby blanket; it is pretty close to being finished! I hope everyone has a great day.

On Sunday I ended up taking a bunch of photos throughout the day. It wasn't a particularly exciting day or anything, just a freezing cold day in the middle of May!

On Saturday we cut Ivan's grandma's grapes for her and grabbed a clipping to plant in our yard. We still need to decide where to plant them.

One of our pear trees blooms sooner than the other for some reason. This one still has lots of blossoms while the other one is pretty much all leaves now.

We went for a walk and I wanted to have photo evidence of how bundled up we were. It was so cold out! That is my "I'm mad about how cold it is" face.

Last week this tree had red buds all over it and now it has the prettiest pink flowers.

After our walk Ivan talked me into making root beer. It always smells amazing and then ends up tasting a bit off. We just tasted this one last night and it's the same story. It tastes good but then has this thing about it that makes your mouth feel really dry. We need to figure out what is making that happen so that we can make totally delicious root beer!

Despite being freezing out, Sunday was a good day!

128/365 :: Magnolia tree...my favourite! I am so happy I did my photo walk around last week. On the weekend while Ivan and I were walking I noticed that most of the flowers were gone from the magnolia trees around us.

129/365 :: I was feeling yucky about my hair so I gave myself a cut and dye job.

130/365 :: Lots of crochet happened on Friday. I finally finished a little project I have been working on. I will show you more later!

131/365 :: Ivan and I saw this at the thrift store on Saturday. Someone had portraits taken of their two kitties! Cutest thing ever.

132/365 :: We found a pretty feather over in dandelion corner in the backyard.

I can't believe it you guys...it is cold here again! Last week was so beautiful and then yesterday it was cold out. Like, scarf and hat cold. It is still cold today but it is supposed to get warmer as the week goes on. Unfortunately I have lots to do outside of the house today so I will have to brave the not so warm weather.

I hope everyone had a good weekend. Thank you to everyone who left me a nice comment on my home birth post. I appreciate your support! I know it is not for everyone and I don't feel like it is my job to convince people that it is safe (people need to decide that for themselves based on their personal situation and comfort level) but I love when people have an open mind and can accept other people's decisions without being judgemental. Pregnancy :: 31 Weeks

Last week Vanessa asked if I could talk about why we decided to have a home birth. I have to give my pal Chanitlly a huge thank you for informing me about home births and midwives last summer because before that I really had no idea what was up with either of them and may not have considered them as options if it wasn't for her. After Chantilly told me about midwives and home births I did some more research, talked to Ivan about it and decided that if/when we have a baby I would really like to try a home birth.

My main reason for wanting a home birth is that I'm not a huge fan of hospitals. Don't get me wrong, I am glad they are around and very thankful for their help when necessary but I don't feel like the birth of a baby is one of those necessities (in most cases). Without going into too much detail about why, I will be much more comfortable at home and feeling comfortable and relaxed is something that I feel will help me a lot and lead to a better birth experience for myself and the baby. The only time I get nervous about giving birth is when I think about the possibility that I will have to do it in the hospital. Obviously if I need to go I will, no questions asked but in most cases home births go very smoothly and I'm hoping mine is one of those. In case anyone is wondering we live about five minutes away from our back up hospital.

It is really hard for me to properly express all of the reasons we want to have a home birth. I know it is not for everyone and I'm sure that some people would feel much less comfortable at home than they would in a hospital. It is definitely somehting that everyone has to decide for themselves based on their individual situation. If you have any specific questions I would be more than happy to try to answer them in the comments!

Well, that got kind of long! I was also going to talk about how I seem to have ballooned in size this past week but I will just mention that my plan to wear my regular dresses has mostly been foiled. Even dresses that were loose in the top before I got pregnant (and that fit me a few weeks ago) are out of the question. Basically, I'm carrying a baby in each of my boobs as well as my belly. And I think my ribcage has gotten bigger. Whatever the reason, I need to just bite the bullet and buy a few pregnancy friendly summer items so that I have more than three dresses to wear this summer.

It is a really gloomy day so far but I'm feeling much better than I was yesterday because I gave myself a new hair look. My hair was getting long and it felt yucky so I chopped it and threw a bit more dye on to help hide my roots. I am always surprised at how a little hair change can make me feel a ton better.

Today I think I will work on some crochet projects that I am dying to finish. What are your plans for the day?

I know I already posted some spring blossoms this week but I took that walk around my neighbourhood with my camera and I can't resist sharing some of the pretty flowering trees that I saw.

The last one is my absolute favourite. I wish that tree was in my yard!

I was pretty proud of myself for taking these photos because there were sometimes people across the street or nearby the houses that had pretty trees. I just casually put my camera up to my face and snapped a shot or two. My only fear was that someone was going to think that I was creepily taking photos of people's houses and yell at me. I tried to make it really obvious that it was the trees I was getting photos of in case anyone was paying attention. I made it back home without any uncomfortable confrontations so I was pretty happy about that.

Today is a little more grey than it has been lately but I'm hoping the sun will pop out later so that I can work on my sandal tan while pulling weeds.

I don't share photos that often anymore of the random things that I do on any given day. That's really because most days I'm just at home with the cats doing the same thing over and over again. Yesterday I went out with Ivan's mom and grandma to Ottawa Street so I took my camera along to snap a few shots. I didn't take as many as I had planned but it is nice to have a couple pictures to remember that I do get out of the house some days.

We looked around in a clothing store, walked the streets and then stopped in at Sestres Bakery for a treat. I got chocolate orange cake and it was delicious! I really wanted an ice coffee but they weren't able to make it decaf so of course I am still craving one today. I know that a little bit of caffeine is safe during pregnancy but I am a little over cautious about those type of things so I have been avoiding it. I'm sure I will survive another couple months!

I don't want to speak too soon but it looks like I won't have that many dandelions to pick today. I only see a couple out there so far but it isn't too sunny yet so that is likely keeping them in hiding. Fingers crossed there aren't as many as yesterday!

Every spring I get mildly (ok majorly) obsessed with flowering trees. I have to mention how pretty every magnolia tree is and then try to figure out what the other flowering trees we pass might be. I just love them all so much. The plum tree in our backyard has really pretty white blossoms and this is the first year that the pink blossoms on the peach tree have bloomed. I am so excited so I had to share a few photos.

Sometime in the next couple of days I would like to take a walk around the neighbourhood with my camera and take photos of the pretty flowering trees that I see. I hope people don't think I'm being creepy and taking photos of their houses!

119/365 :: Monthly bloodwork. When I found out I was pregnant I also found out I had hypothyroid so I've been having my blood taken monthly to make sure everything stays in a good range. Luckily it has been! I used to have a terrible time when I was having blood taken (I even passed out once) but now it is no big deal.

120/365 :: Outtake from my outfit photos. I can't wait to be able to do something about my roots. They are driving me up the wall!

121/365 :: I was pruning the grapevine in the backyard and this little butthead was yelling at me to let him come outside. We have been taking Farva and Pinny out on their leashes a lot and they love it. Yesterday we were sitting on the porch and even Anakin joined us for a while!

122/365 :: Andrea came over for a visit and I had to take a photo of the pretty colours in her outfit. Andrea posted some outfit photos so check it out if you would like to see more than just her torso!

123/365 :: Blue Jays game! I'm not a huge sports fan but we definitely had fun at the game.

125/365 :: Sunday was another beautiful day. I pulled dandelions and Ivan made his first brew of the year!

It looks like another great day so I will be pulling some more dandelions. Yesterday I got all the ones that were blooming in the front yard but I'm expecting some more to pop up today. The backyard is another story...there are too many out there. I think I will tackle the a bit at a time.

Pregnancy :: 30 Weeks

30 weeks 2 days in photo

I feel like I have just exploded in the belly area this past week. The baby moves so much and I have seen the movements from the outside a lot lately which is really neat.

The baby room is making some progress. Ivan put together the crib on Thursday night and yesterday we found the rug we want to get when it comes back in stock on Wednesday. We also picked up some really cool mirror and a stuffed broccoli. Very important nursery items. I can't wait to show off the baby room once it starts coming together a bit more.

This week I learned that I can't do silly things like cut grapevines. All the reaching and bending did a number on me and I was in quite a bit of lower stomach pain for two days. My stomach muscles did not like it! I'm back to feeling great again now which I am very happy about.

That's about all for this week. As usual if you guys have any pregnancy related questions feel free to ask them in the comments. Sometimes I'm not sure what you would find interesting and what is just sort of 'yeah, yeah whatever' information.

Restyle :: Music Holder

When we got our piano it also came with this old, brassy music holder. I love it because it keeps music off of the top of the piano where it can look kind of messy but I didn't love the colour. Easy fix: pass the spray paint!

Ahh, much better. I used a orange/gold colour and I love the way it looks with the blue walls. I think it would be really awesome to paint the piano a lighter version of the wall colour one day but we will see how ambitious I get on that one.

The new look for the music holder is also Pinny approved. Isn't she looking so much older?! In the last few weeks she is really looking more like a cat instead of a kitten. I told her not to grow up but she is not a good listener.

Today my main goal is to move as little as possible. Yesterday I pruned our grapevines and apparently that was way too intense for my pregnant body to handle. I think I did too much reaching and bending. My stomach muscles are so incredibly sore today that it hurts to do anything. I am just going to rest and try to let them get over their traumatic experience of working yesterday.

On a positive note it is so nice out again today! Hooray!

I randomly picked up this dress the other day at the grocery store (because I'm super fancy like that) because I loved the colour and I thought that it would work really well as a pregnany person dress. It is super comfy and not too short which is a problem with some of my other dresses now that my tummy is in the way.

Oh yeah and I finally painted my nails again. I loooove painting my nails but I went through about two weeks of it just sounding like the least enjoyable thing to do. I have no idea why I just couldn't get myself to do it. I'm back to loving it again and I'm happy because my nails look much nicer when they are painted.

Yeah! Another week complete! As I was putting this together some little baby was kicking me non stop. Maybe to remind me that I will in fact be in labour at some point this year and might miss a photo. I'm definitely going to try to get one everyday but I will give myself a pass if I miss a day due to having a baby. I think that's a pretty good reason.

I'm off to another midwife appointment today. Last time I mentioned that I was starting group care...turns out there weren't enough people so that is on hold for now. This is just a regular appointment but I'm always excited to check on the baby's heartbeat!

I really need to start writing this post earlier in the week because I keep thinking of things that I want to say but then by Saturdays I forget! Nothing too much is new this week once again. Oh yeah, my linea nigra (the line down my belly) is starting to get kind of noticable. I am super pale so it is really light but I can see it extending up from my belly button.

Everyone I see in person says that I look a lot more pregnant in these weekly photos than I do in real life. I completely agree. I don't know why that is! I remember when I posted the first photo, Ivan asked if I was pushing it out. Actually I think I do know why...I don't normally walk around with my hands holding my belly like this so it is not so in your face.

I am feeling a lot better today! Ivan finished painting the baby room last night so now I can start thinking about the things I want to put in it to decorate. I will show you the progress eventually (when it looks like something other than an empty room).

I was contacted by Printic to test out their photo printing service and of course I was very excited about it. I have almost no physical copies of pictures anymore so I like finding new, easy options for printing. The Printic app is very easy to use and you can grab photos from your iPhone or your Instagram account. You just select the photos you want to print and they mail them right to you. So easy! I grabbed all of these photos from my Instagram account (my username is loveelycia if you want to follow me on there).

The photos are very nice quality and have a glossy finish (in case you were wondering). I found that the ones without borders on the photos turned out better than the ones that had borders from Instagram. Either way they are super cute!

I am very happy with my Printic photos! Have any of you ever tried Printic? What is your favourite way to print iPhone/Instagram photos?
