How to Allow Multiple RDP Sessions in Windows 10

Like in previous client versions of Microsoft operation systems, Windows 10 Pro and Enterprise users can connect to their computers remotely using Remote Desktop service (RDP). There is a restriction on the number of simultaneous RDP sessions: only one remote user can work at a time. When you try to open a second RDP session, the session of the first user is prompted to be closed.

Another user is signed in. If you continue, they’ll be disconnected. Do you want to sign in anyway?

Actually, the number of simultaneous rdp connections is limited rather by the license, which does not allow to create an RDP server based on the workstation for use by several users, than by any technical aspect.

Tip. In Windows 10 Home editions, the incoming remote desktop connections are forbidden at all. The problem, however, can be solved using RDP Wrapper Library.

Let’s consider two ways how to eliminate the restriction of simultaneous RDP connections to Windows 10:

Note. System modifications described in the article will be probably treated as a violation of Microsoft License Agreement with all the consequences that come with it.

The Modification of termsrv.dll

The restriction on the number of RDP connections can be eliminated using termsrv.dll file (a library file used by Remote Desktop Services) modification. The file is located in C:\Windows\System32) directory.
Before termsrv.dll file modification, create its backup (if necessary, you can use the original version of the file):
copy c:\Windows\System32\termsrv.dll termsrv.dll_backup

Before termsrv.dll file editing, you have to become its owner and give the Administrators group the full rights to it (all steps are similar to those described in the article “Enable Multiple Concurrent RDP Sessions in Windows 8”). After that, stop Remote Desktop service (TermService) in services.msc console or from the command prompt:
Net stop TermService

For Windows 10 x64 RTM edition (termsrv.dll file version is 10.0.10240.16384):
Open termsrv.dll file using any HEX editor (for example, Tiny Hexer)
Find the line:
39 81 3C 06 00 00 0F 84 73 42 02 00
Replace it with:
B8 00 01 00 00 89 81 38 06 00 00 90

Save the file and run TermService.

RDP Wrapper Library

The alternative to termsrv.dll file modification is the use of RDP Wrapper Library project. This software serves as a layer between SCM (Service Control Manager) and Terminal Services and allows not only to enable the support of several simultaneous RDP sessions but also to enable the support of RDP Host on Windows 10 Home editions. RDP Wrapper does not make any changes to termsrv.dll file, it just load termsrv with the changed parameters.
Thus, this solution will work even in case of termsrv.dll file update. It allows not to be afraid of Windows updates.
RDP Wrapper can be downloaded from GitHub repository: https://github.com/binarymaster/rdpwrap/releases (the last version available is RDP Wrapper Library v1.6)

Tip. By the way, RDP Wrapper Library source code is also available. It means that if required, you can compile executables by yourself.
Download RDPwrap-v1.6.1 here

RDPWrap-v1.6.zip archive contains some files:

RDPWinst.exe — an RDP Wrapper Library install/uninstall program
RDPConf.exe — an RDP Wrapper configuration utility
RDPCheck.exe — Local RDP Checker — an RDP check utility
install.bat, uninstall.bat, update.bat — batch files for installation, uninstallation and update of RDP Wrapper

To install the utility, run install.bat with the Administrator privileges.

When the installation is over, run RDPConfig.exe. Make sure that all elements in Diagnostics section are green.

Try to open the second RDP session. It worked out well! Now, our Windows 10 allows two users to start RDP sessions simultaneously.

In Windows 98, how do I use Fdisk to create a single FAT16 partition on a hard drive smaller than 2GB?

Note: UITS recommends that you use a current version of Windows on computers connected to the Indiana University network; see Recommended Windows operating systems at IU.

Warning: The use of Fdisk will permanently erase all data from the drive or drives on which it is used. You should only attempt this procedure if you have a fairly high level of computer literacy. If you follow these instructions incorrectly you could lose data or cause your computer not to function properly.

The steps listed below are for creating a single FAT16 partition on a hard drive that is 2.1GB or smaller. FAT16 is primarily designed for DOS, Windows 3.1, and Windows 95, whereas FAT32 is designed primarily for Windows 98.

The Windows 98 startup disk also includes CD-ROM support for the most common CD-ROM drives. This allows access to the CD-ROM drive during installation, which makes installing the operating system and additional programs more manageable. While it is easier to use a Windows 98 startup disk because of the CD-ROM driver support, you can also use any Windows 95 emergency disk, instead.

Some proprietary CD-ROM drives do not work with the Windows 98 floppy disk. Known problems occur with many Packard Bell models as well as many older computer models.

Test your Windows 98 startup disk:

Power off your computer and insert the Windows 98 startup disk into the floppy drive. Turn the computer on.
You should see a menu with the option to boot with CD-ROM support. Select this option.

At the A:\> prompt, enter:

 fdisk

The following information will appear on your screen:

     Your Computer has a disk larger than 512MB.  This version of Windows     
includes support for large disks, resulting in more efficient use of disk     
space on large drives, and allowing disks over 2GB to be formatted as a     
single drive.

Important: If you enable large disk support and create any new drives on 
this disk, you will not be able to access the new drives using other 
operating systems, including some versions of Windows 95 and Windows NT, as 
well as earlier versions of Windows 95 and MS-DOS.  In addition, disk 
utilities that were not designed explicitly for the FAT32 file system will 
not be able to work with this disk.  If you need access to this disk with 
other operating systems or older disk utilities, do not enable large disk 
support.

Do you wish to enable large disk support(Y/N)........? (N)

Type n and then press Enter. After Fdisk has started, the following screen will be displayed:

          A:\> fdisk

Note: Option 5, "Change current fixed disk drive", will only appear if the computer has two or more hard drives.

Choose option 1, "Create DOS partition or Logical DOS drive", and press Enter.

The next screen should display the following:

 Create DOS Partition or Logical DOS Drive                  

             Current fixed disk drive: 1

             Choose one of the following:

             1. Create Primary DOS Partition
             2. Create Extended DOS Partition
             3. Create Logical DOS Drive(s) in the Extended DOS Partition      
      
             Enter choice (1)

             Press Esc to return to FDISK Options

Choose option 1, "Create Primary DOS Partition", and press Enter.
Note: A message may appear on the screen stating that Fdisk is verifying disk integrity. There will be a percentage gauge indicating what percent of the disk has been checked. This can take from a few seconds to a minute or two, depending on the speed of the computer and the size of the hard drive.

The next screen should look like the following:

Create Primary DOS Partition                      

           Current fixed disk drive: 1

           Do you wish to use the maximum available size for a Primary DOS     
           Partition and make the partition active (Y/N).............. [Y]

           Press Esc to continue
```

Press y to use the maximum available size for a Primary DOS Partition and to make the partition active.

Note: Fdisk may again verify disk integrity.

The next screen should display the following:

           You MUST restart your system for your changes to take effect.
           Any drives you have created or changed must be formatted after
           you restart.

           Shut down Windows before restarting

  
           Press Esc to exit Fdisk

Note: Older versions of Fdisk may lack this message.

Exit Fdisk by pressing Esc, and then restart the computer.
Press Esc. This will return you to the A:\ prompt.
Make sure that the Windows 98 emergency disk is still in the floppy drive, and restart the computer.
The computer should reboot to the A:\ prompt. When you arrive at the DOS prompt, you can use the format command to format your hard disk drives. At the A:\ prompt, enter:

Replace X: with the name of the drive that you want to format.
Format will ask you if you're sure you wish to continue. By this time, the data stored previously has been destroyed, so press y.

Following these steps will create a single partition the size of the entire hard drive up to 2.1GB.

Way To Read A Mac Formatted External Hard Disk Drive

Recently a friend of mine pass me a hard disk and I can read it. After I check with him, then only I know he use it on Mac. Mac use another file system which Windows System cannot detect. So I google and find a solution from http://www.makeuseof.com/tag/4-ways-read-mac-formatted-drive-windows/

I installed the Free

HFSExplorer – Free

1. Download the HFSExplorer from the link above

2. Install the HFSExplorer ( if you don't have Java Runtime Enviroment, do install it first)

3. Connect your Mac Formatted Harddisk

4. Open HFS Explorer and go to file -> Load File system from Device -> Select a Device and choose the devise t -> Load

Note: You can only view the file inside the system and cannot change it inside the harddisk. You have to extract it out on your Window drive then only you can change it from there.

The other 3 ways i didn't try but this is a summary and review from some of the comment on the page:

- A more pricier option but it work as per mentioned by other inside the comment column.

4. Format the Drive and Erase Its Contents

Another option which I think is a good solution also format it or when you use start to use the Harddisk format it at Fat32 file system But FAT32 file system only can support up to 4GB file size

One of the person recommended format it to exFat rather than FAT32, and I check out exFat will be a better choice than FAT32 due to big file video size we having currently.

Customer have a cash drawer and I can't access it thru the POS software, I contacted the Cash Drawer supplier, it test using the following method and another method I get it from internet and tested it also work and able to open the cash drawer here the step:

1)Exit from your application software.

2)Shell out to the MS-DOS command prompt or restart computer in DOS mode. At the DOS prompt,

3) enter “MODE COMx 96,n,8,1” (excluding the “” marks; x=1 or 2 depending upon which port you are hooked up to).

4a)On the next line enter “TYPE CON>COMx”.
After that, on the next line hold down Ctrl and hit G. Then, hit Enter. The drawer should open if you haven’t changed any of the default switch settings inside the drawer. If this still does not work, make sure the switches are set to their default settings and that the power supply adapter is working. If you get a “Write fault error to COM port”, close any other software that are set to use the same COM port and then try again (check Autoexec.bat file to see if a LPT printer port is redirected to the COM port).

If this test opened the drawer, go back to your application software and check the port settings for COMx, 9600 baud, no parity, 8 bit data and 1 stop bit, and drawer opening code is Ctrl-G (hex 07). You may need to refer to your software user manual or contact your software supplier for assistance.

4b) create a txt file with any word in side ( type 1 in the text file and save as 11.txt on c:\)

Then after step (3) then type copy 11.txt com3, the drawer will open.

The module "msstdfmt.dll" was loaded but the call to DllRegisterServer failed with error code 0x8002801c.For more information about this problem, search online using the error code as a search term.

I got a similar problem as below, by using this solution, then it work...

I got this Run-time error '713': Class not registered. You need the following file to be installed on your machine.MISSTDFMT.DLL
Then try to registered using cmd , then got this error "The module "msstdfmt.dll" was loaded but the call to DllRegisterServer failed with error code 0x8002801c.For more information about this problem, search online using the error code as a search term." Please help. thanks.

Answer:
After downloading MSSTDFMT.DLL, save it in C:\Windows\sysWOW64 folder. Stay in sysWoW64 foder and locate the file cmd.exe. Right click cmd.exe and click on "Run as administrator." The black command screen appeares with
C:\Windows\system32>
Type in Regsvr32 C:\Windows\SysWOW64\MSSTDFMT.DLL
Now on the command screen entry you have:
C:\Windows\system32>Regsvr32 C:\Windows\SysWOW64\MSSTDFMT.DLL
Press "Enter"
This process finally worked for me after trying everything I found in help files that did not work.

Recently, a client having an error message : Run time Error 713. Class not registered. You need the following file to be installed on your machine: MSSTDFMT.DLL. on it Microsoft Office 2010 which link to a Audit Software called ProSystem Fx Engagement. Begin by searching for the file MSSTDFMT.DLL file on your computer

Once you have found this file, if it is not already in the C:\Windows directory, move it into this directory

Then, click on Start, select Run and type cmd to open a command prompt

In the command prompt, type regsvr32 "C:\Windows\msstdfmt.dll”

That’s all you need to do. You can now try and re-run your program and it should work fine and no longer give you this error message

1) login as the user.

4) Then run “regsvr32 msstdfmt.dll”

Did you ever experienced hard times trying to get your hand crafted Wordpress website transferred from your local test environment to the destination server? Did you spend countless hours trying to make things work? If you can answer yes to these questions then this article is for you. I’ll explain in plain English how to make a smooth transition from you localhost to the destination server.
Before we begin, I need to make some assumptions:

You have your website working perfectly on your local machine.
Local environment is either a PC or Mac on which you run a web server with PHP and a MySQL database and you have access to phpMyAdmin.
Destination server runs Apache or IIS, you have FTP details, access to phpMyAdmin, database server name, database name, database user name & password.
Other configurations may work as well.
It doesn’t matter which version of Wordpress you are using.

Also, a quick “executive summary” of all the steps below:

Export your local Wordpress database to a text file.
Search and replace http://localhost/yoursite with http://www.yoursite.com
Create a database on your destination server and import your database.
Copy all files from your local machine to destination server and amend wp-config.php file with new database details.
If necessary change file and folders permissions so Wordpress will be able to use them.

Step 1 – Export Local Database To Text File

Open up your browser and access phpMyAdmin and select your website database from the drop down box on the left. This may look like this:

Go to Export section (click on the Export tab at the top). Depend on your version of the phpMyAdmin this section may look bit different but the functionality will be the same.
Click ‘Select All’ in the Export form. All tables should be selected now. Leave other options as they are. Navigate to the bottom and tick ‘Save as file’ checkbox. Click ‘Go’.

We have to change another line as well. Find line C:\\Program Files\\xampp\\htdocs\\yoursite/wp-content/uploads and strip it down to /wp-content/uploads and finally save your SQL file.

Step 3 – Import Information Into Destination Server Database

On your destination server you have to create database for your WP installation. It may look like this screen below (assuming you’ll be using phpMyAdmin) However in most cases you’ll have to log onto your server administration panel and create database, user and password from there. It varies from provider to provider so please refer to your hosting provider help section.

Now as you have your database created you should populate it with your data. Click on the Import tab at the top of the page. Click on Browse in the ‘File to import’ section and select your amended SQL file. Click Go to proceed.

If everything went well you should see table names on the left hand side and a message saying something similar to this: ‘Import has been successfully finished, 162 queries executed.’ You’re done and deserve another coffee.

Step 4 – Upload Wordpress Files

In this step you should use your favourite FTP client to upload all files to your destination server. If you created a brand new website than you can upload everything including index.php file. If you upgrading an existing website then you have to make sure that it will work until you launch your WP website. DON’T DELETE ANY FILES that belongs to your existing website. Make sure your Wordpress website works first, then you’re safe to delete the old files.
To make your website work you should update wp-config.php file with your database details: database name, database server address, database user and password. Once done, you should be able to see your new website at http://www.yoursite.com/
Now, you have to test if you can login to the administration panel. So type in http://www.yoursite.com/wp-admin/ to find out. If you can see WP admin login screen you’re half way there. Type in your login details and login. If you’re successfull you should see WP Dashboard.
That’s it. You’re done.

Step 5 – Fine Tuning your Wordpress website

Few other thing you should take care of:

Make sure that you can upload any new images or documents. If you can’t it means that you have to change files/folders permissions and give Wordpress read/write right for necessary folders.
Check if your permalink structure works. Amend if necessary.
Make sure you’re running the latest version of Wordpress and upgrade automatically to the newest one where possible.
Check if you have installed latest versions of any plugins that you’re using. Be careful though! Some plugins require PHP5 to work properly or require additional libraries to be enabled. Check this prior to any upgrades.

then Restart your laptop.

It has over 500 million active users with 50% logging in daily, and users spend over 700 billion minutes per month using the service. While you and most of your friends and family have a Facebook profile, Facebook Pages - whether for a business, organization, band, group, cause, or celebrity – are something entirely different. Pages can help in marketing and awareness, as well as customer and fan communication.
Your Facebook Page can serve as a website where you can display your business or organization details and keep customers or fans up-to-date with happenings, new products, and other news. When Facebook users “Like” your Page, they’ll see your posts in their News Feed, plus their friends will be notified in their News Feed that you “Like” a specific Page. Given that the average user has 130 friends, the potential exposure and buzz is something to be desired, for sure.

Since Facebook Pages are visible to the public even without a Facebook account and are indexed in search engines, you might even consider creating a Facebook Page over making a traditional website if you don’t already have one.
If you haven’t created a Facebook Page yet, visit www.Facebook.com and click the “Create a Page” link. You’ll need to link it to a personal Facebook Profile. If you don’t have one yet, it will let you create one. Then in the future to make edits to your Page, you first login to your personal Facebook Profile. Then you can click the Account menu and select Use Facebook as Page. You can also assign others as administrators of the Page, which would similarly link it to their personal profile.
Customizing your Facebook Page can help enhance the user experience and improve marketing. First, you should fill in your Basic Information which is shown to users on your Info tab.

Then we’ll start by customizing your website address (URL) and adding photos. Then we’ll discover some applications (apps) that can help you add custom content.
We’ll also see how to add custom tabs to your Page from scratch, so you can display generic HTML and other web content. This used to be made possible by using Static FBML apps, but that method was removed in March 2011 and replaced by using iFrames.

2. Creating a Username and Adding Photos
You probably have a Facebook profile, but does your band, business or client have a Facebook Page? Pages are a great way to connect with fans and consumers, and we're going to show you how to customize and maximize your FB Page.
So your customers and fans can more easily reach your Facebook Page by manually typing in the website address, you should create a username. This shortens and simplifies your Facebook website address, such as www.facebook.com/yourusername instead of www.facebook.com/pages/yourname/178946324913. It also makes it more visually appealing when displayed on advertisements.

Unlike with personal Facebook profiles, not all Facebook Pages can have a username. However, the only requirement is that you must have at least 25 people that “Like” your Page. Then you can create your username by visiting www.facebook.com/username/. If you’re just starting your Page and want a custom URL right away, you could setup a sub-domain pointing to your long Page URL if you have your own website and domain.

You can make your Facebook Page more visually appealing by adding photos or images. Your profile picture is one way. While it’s best to keep the width at or just above 180 pixels, the height can be much larger. You can create a rectangular graphic (a tower ad of sorts) and then you can choose the section to serve as your thumbnail that’s displayed along your comments and wall postings. You may want to work your logo or other identifiable mark into the graphic so it can appear in your thumbnail.

Customizing the 5 most recent photos shown on the top of your Page (when users view your Wall or Info tabs) is another way to add some visually appealing content. Even if you don’t have photos of events or people you’d like to upload, consider adding something that deals with your organization, even if it’s only stock photos.

If you have more than five photos uploaded, you can choose which five are shown on top when viewing the Wall or Info tabs by deleting them and re-adding them each time you upload more photos. That way they’ll always be the most recent, thus shown on the top. You can also control which are shown by hiding them: click the X on the photo when editing your page.

3. Apps to Add Custom Content
You probably have a Facebook profile, but does your band, business or client have a Facebook Page? Pages are a great way to connect with fans and consumers, and we're going to show you how to customize and maximize your FB Page.
Here are a few apps that create new tabs on your Page and let you display custom content:

Extended Info: Though you can’t create custom fields or content on your Info tab, you can on another tab with this app. Make up whatever fields and content you want: more details about your products, services, organization, etc. It even supports videos, images, music, and HTML. There are many other ways to display custom content like this (such as using iframes like we’ll discuss soon), but this method makes the process quick and easy if you like the formatting.

Add Google Map: This offers more than just displaying a customized Google map of your location. You can also share your contact information, including phone, fax, email, website, and address. Though these details can be displayed on your Info tab, this tab (named Contact by default) is more noticeable to users wanting to contact you or find your business’ location. You can also display a contact form for users to email you, and display an icon with links to your other social network profiles.

Poll: You can create questions with public polls. It can help increase Page activity and interaction. Get feedback, opinions, or even do market research. It even lets you download the results in a spreadsheet, which includes the user ID, name, date/time, gender, and selected option.

4. Apps to Add Social Features
You probably have a Facebook profile, but does your band, business or client have a Facebook Page? Pages are a great way to connect with fans and consumers, and we're going to show you how to customize and maximize your FB Page.
Here are a few apps that create new tabs on your Page and are social oriented:

Social RSS: Lists content from the RSS (Really Simple Syndication) feeds you choose. If you aren’t familiar with RSS, it’s a method used by many websites and blogs to distribute updates, news, and other content via a universal format. You can specify RSS feed addresses and their content will be displayed with applicable dates/times and links. You might use this to share your blog posts or news stories from your favorite sources. Facebook users can also subscribe to your feeds so they’ll see new content posted to their Wall, thus also visible and shared with their friends.

Tweets for Pages: Shows the tweets from the Twitter account you specify. Since only the name is required, this can be any Twitter account. It displays the basic info (Name, Location, URL, etc) and the amount of recent tweets you specify. This is a great way to let Facebook users and your fans know about your tweeting. Users can also hover over a tweet, click Publish, and then post it to their Wall to share it with their friends.

Reviews: Anyone (whether they “Like” you or not) can leave their comments and a starred rating about your products, services, etc. You and others can “Like” and comment on each review. This is a great way to receive testimonials and feedback.

5. Create Custom Tabs with iFrame Apps
You probably have a Facebook profile, but does your band, business or client have a Facebook Page? Pages are a great way to connect with fans and consumers, and we're going to show you how to customize and maximize your FB Page.
Here are two apps that help you create custom tabs using iframes, similar to the old Static FBML method:

Hosted iFrame: This lets you add a custom tab to your Page by inserting your own HTML, XFBML, and other web coding. It’s free for Pages with 5,000 or less fans. It’s similar to the old Static FBML method but with several useful enhancements. It’s a quick, easy, and enhanced alternative to creating your own iframe tabs from scratch, as we’ll discuss on the next page.

You can define different content to be displayed to fans (likers) versus non-fans (non-likers), and even content to be displayed to both. It even provides up to 35MB of hosted storage for photos and files. It also supports Google Analytics so you can track visitors.

You can add up to five Host iFrame tabs to your page. However, it affects the amount of fans used to determine the cost. For instance, if you add two tabs you must have 2,500 or less fans for it to be free or 1,666 or less fans if you add three tabs.

IFrame Apps: This is similar to Hosted iFrame, but let’s you display any webpage on the Internet by specifying a URL - much like the from-scratch iframe method we’ll discuss - but makes the process much more quicker and easier. It also lets you enter HTML code into the app, but it doesn’t provide hosting of images like with Hosted iFrame. You can designate fan and non-fan content, but can’t define content to be displayed to all. Additionally, it only allows you to add up to two tabs instead of five like Host iFrame does.

6. Create Custom Tabs from Scratch
You probably have a Facebook profile, but does your band, business or client have a Facebook Page? Pages are a great way to connect with fans and consumers, and we're going to show you how to customize and maximize your FB Page.
If you require even more customization than what’s provided by the iFrame apps discussed on the previous page, you can create a custom tab from scratch. It lets you point to and display any webpage on the Internet by specifying its URL, so this is best if you already have your own website or hosting server. It’s similar to iFrame Apps, but you can choose the tab icon displayed on your Page. While this method actually involves creating a Facebook app, it doesn’t require any coding or programming experience beyond the same basic HTML understanding required when working with the iFrame apps.

First, add the Facebook Developers app to your personal Facebook account (or one that’s assigned as an administer to your Page) and click the Set Up New App button to get started. If you haven’t already, you’ll have to perform an account verification using your mobile phone or credit card.

Here are the chief app settings you need to define, organized by the setting tabs:

    Canvas Page: enter a page name to be used for your Facebook URL.

In other words, this should point to a webpage on your separate website (http://www.yourdomain.com/facebook/) that you want displayed on your custom tab of your Page. Keep in mind this can’t point to a main domain, it must point to a directory. Thus you’ll have to have an index webpage uploaded to the directory.

    Secure Canvas URL: should point to the HTTPS URL (https://www.yourdomain.com/facebook/) of the same page. If you don’t have your own SSL certificate, you may be able to use the one from your website host (https:// yourdomain.yourwebhost.com/facebook/).

    Tab Name: enter what you want should as the name of the tab in the left column on your Page.

    Tab URL: enter the same as you did for the Canvas URL.

    Secure Tab URL: enter the same as you did for the Secure Canvas URL.

To add the app (custom tab) to your Page, visit the My Apps page of your developer account, click the Application Profile Page link, and then click the Add to My Page link from the left column.

7. There’s More Ways to Customize

Now you should have a more customized and interactive Facebook Page, or at the very least the knowledge to create one at some point in the future. We discussed how to increase a Page’s visual appeal with your profile photo and the five most recent photos shown on the top of your Page. We also discovered several different apps to add additional content. Lastly we showed you out how to create custom tabs using apps and by creating your own app.
Remember, you can change the name of most tabs you add to your Page. Go to your Page’s settings, click Apps, and then click the Edit Settings link for app/tab you want to change.
You should think about making a welcome page by creating a custom iFrame tab to get more visitors to “Like” you. You can select a tab that visitors see when first entering your Page. Thus you can prompt them to “Like” you so they can see additional content. Then you can specify different content to be display once they “Like” you, such as an introduction to you or even a coupon or special offer.
To change the default tab of your Page, go to the Manage Permissions tab of your Page settings and change the Default Landing Page.

We only touched on a few basic customization techniques for your Page. You may also want to consider using Plugins and/or Dialogs on your website or custom tabs for additional interactivity.

Remember, there are plenty of other apps out there that can help; do your own searching, too. Just keep in mind you’ll also come across apps that are for general users or to add content to personal Facebook profiles, which isn’t supported now. Look for apps specifically designed for use by Pages.

DLink DSL-2640B wireless connection problem

Recently I brought a DLink DSL-2640B to replace my client faulty wireless router. When I finish configure the router modem, all the thing is working fine except it can't connect to the internet. At first I thought the password is wrong, but I check with the ISP (TMNet) that my password is correct. I already try to upload another version of firmware but it still can't solve my problem. Hmm weird, then I have no choice to bring the modem back to check.

Later at my office, i use another modem to try out my client username and password, it works. then it must be the modem problem. After I google the web, I found some setting, so I try to follow the setting stated below. Then later I can get the modem to connect to Internet. My problem is the value of my VCI is different. I put VCI = 32, so it cannot connect. After I change it to VCI=35 and other setting as below, then My wireless router can connect now. I wonder what is this VPI and VCI use for?

The setup wizard and interface is not very user friendly compare to other DLink Model modem and it didn't provide Malaysia selection for it setup wizard selection.

Below is the value for setting the modem for TMNet streamyx (Malaysia):

Recently, I help a client of my to install Karpersky Internet Security 2010. To enjoy an extra 1 month of protection using Karpersky Trial Version License key. After 30 days the license key expire, my client call me on where to key in the License key. I check on the Karpersky Interface, it is really quite hard for me to find it too. So below is how and where the location for you to key in the License key.

Step1: press the main menu to go to main control center.
Step 2: go to the right lower corner and click on the link show on the picture below.

Step 3: After clicking you will see the below image and click on " Activate the application with the commercial license"

Step 4: then you will see the space for you to key in your activation key. Click next a few times, then the Software will be activated.

D-LInk DIR-412 3G Wireless Router cannot detect My Celcom 3G Huawei E-1550 3G Modem

I just bought a D-Link DIR-412 3G Wireless Router for one of my client. He also apply a Celcom 3G package from me. I tested the free 3G modem which is Huawei E-1550 3G Modem. It work fine on my netbook. Later when I plug it into the 3G wireless router and done the setting. It cannot connect to the internet.

I try google it but no answer. So finally, I found the solution for this. Which is upgrading the wireless router to the newest firmware. Please remember to use a wired connection to do the upgrade. I upgrade the firmware from version 1.02 to version 1.08.

Step to upgrade your firmware.
(Please download the new firmware file and unzip it first)
1. Login to the D-Link DIR-412 Setup Page
2. Go to Tools
3. Go to Firmware
4. Go to Firmware upgrade and click browse and select the unzipped firmware file.
5. Click upload and wait for the process to upload.
6. Then your Huawei E-1550 will work fine.

I think the step will work for other 3G modem too. Please let me know if it do.

HP Compaq CQ35 Recovery Partition

One of my Clients Notebook HP Compaq CQ35 have the original Window 7 Home Premium pre-installed in his notebook. I check it have the Recovery partition, but I check with him, he said he didn't received any recovery CD. I also can't find any recovery instruction (any key to press to go to the recovery setup menu). After I browse the web I finally found the solution:

The solution is press the F11 key!!!

Then only it bring me to the Recovery Menu.

Restore Default Windows 7 File Extension Type Associations

Information

This will allow you to restore the default registry entries and program associations for the Windows 7 file extension type of your choice.

Note

This can be helpful for example when a file extension type opens with the wrong program by default, has the wrong icon, or is missing or corrupted in the registry. Downloading the .reg file for the selected file extension in the tutorial below, will restore that file extension back to default for all of these items above.

Since there are so many default file extension types in Windows 7, it may take a bit to have a complete list of them below. If the file extension type you need to restore is not listed below yet, then please post a request for it. I'll be happy to add it to the list.

Warning

You will need to be logged on to an administrator account to apply these. As a backup, you should create a restore point before applying the downloaded default file extention below. This way you can do a System Restore to go back to before you applied it if needed.

These default file extensions should only be used in Windows 7.

Here's How:

1. Click on the file extension type link listed below for the one that you wish to restore to default to download it's .zip file.

2. Save the .zip file to your desktop.

3. Open the .zip file, then extract the .reg file to the desktop.

4. Right click on the .reg file and click on Merge.

5. Click on the Run button in the Security Warning pop-up.

6. Click on Continue (UAC), Yes, and OK when prompted.

7. When done, you can delete the downloaded .zip and .reg files on the desktop if you like.

8. Log off and log on, or restart the computer to apply.

Default Windows 7 File Extension Types:aspx - A file with the ASPX file extension is an ASP.NET Source file.

asf - Advanced Streaming Format (ASF) is an open file format specification for streaming multimedia files containing text, graphics, sound, video, and animation. The default program is Windows Media Player.

asx - Advanced Stream Redirector (.asx) play list files, also known as Windows Media Metafiles, are text files that provide information about a file stream and its presentation. The default program is Windows Media Player.

AudioCD - Audio CD protocol associations.

avi - Audio Video Interleave files. The default program is Windows Media Player.

bat - Batch files.

bmp - Bitmap image files. The default program is Windows Photo Viewer.

cab - Cabinet files.

chm - Microsoft compiled HTML help files.

cmd - Windows command script files.

com - MS-DOS application files.

cpp - Program source code written in the C++ programming language; may be a standalone program or one of many files referenced within a programming project; can be viewed with a text editor, but most software development programs will display the text with helpful syntax highlighting

cur - Windows File Cursor animation files used for the Microsoft Windows mouse pointer image.

Directory - Directory protocol associations

dll - A Dynamic Link Library (dll) file is a support file used by one or more programs.

drive - Drive protocol associations.

dvr-ms - Microsoft Recorded TV Show file. The default program is Windows Media Center.

exe - Executable application files.

folder - Folder protocol associations.

gif - GIF (Graphics Interchange Format) image files. The default program is Internet Explorer.

gz - Usually associated with Gzip. By default, there is no associated program for this in Windows 7.

h - C or C++ program language header file normally with .C or .CPP file. In computer programming, particularly in the C and C++ programming languages, a header file or include file is a file, usually in the form of source code, that is automatically included in another source file by the compiler. Typically, header files are included via compiler directives at the beginning (or head) of the other source file.

htm - HTML (Hypertext Mark-up Language) document files. The default program is Internet Explorer.

html - HTML (Hypertext Mark-up Language) document files. The default program is Internet Explorer.

ico - Icon files. The default program is Windows Photo Viewer.

img - CD or DVD image file, essentially equivalent to an ISO file.

inf - Setup information files. The default program is Notepad.

ini - The INI file type is primarily associated with 'Initialization/Configuration File'. These files are typically ASCII text with various configuration options set into sections.

iso - Image file.

mov - Movie file. The default program is Windows Media Player.

mp3 - MP3 sound format file. The default program is Windows Media Player.

mp4 - MPEG-4 movie file. The default program is Windows Media Player.

mpa - MPEG audio file. The default program is Windows Media Player.

Using this to restore the default PDF association in Windows 7 will remove all associations for the pdf file extension. You will need to install a 3rd party program like Adobe Reader or Foxit Reader to be able to open and read pdf files in Windows 7.

png - Portable Network Graphics (PNG) is a bitmap compression method for image files. PNG supports 16.7 million colors, it is lossless and also supports index color, grayscale, true color, transparency, and is streamable. It is thus the best compression method (better than GIF or JPEG) for use on the web.

psd - The PSD file format, created by Adobe, contains graphics/photos created by image editing software such as Adobe Photoshop.

reg - Registry files.
NOTE: You may need to set the default program as Registry Editor (C:\Windows\regedit.exe) for reg file extensions, or enable regedit before you will be able to use this REG file.

rtf - Rich Text document files. The default program is WordPad.

scr - Screen Saver files.
