After 5 years of activity, 3 seasons of events and Commissions, Emerge is closing our doors. We've had a great run, thanks to all the artists and organisations who have helped us along the way.

Huge thank you to all the artists who have contributed to our events programme, through facilitating or attending and taking part - there is a lot of you! Over 650 members now, more than double from this time a year ago. Its a shame to go, but we figured go out on a high. The image above is from our final event on 17th September 2011, thanks to The People Speak for a good one! You can find information that came out of the event in our Events archive.

Especially big thanks go to our founding and long standing partner - Artquest and all our supporting programme partners including; ACME, ACAVA, BAR, ArtsDepot, Creative Capital, engage, Intervention Gallery, Matt Roberts Arts, Salon Contemporary, Shape, Tate Modern, The Photographers' Gallery, The Showroom, The Tabernacle, and funding partners including Arts Council England and the London Boroughs of: Barnet, Brent, Enfield, Haringey, Harrow, The Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea, Waltham Forest and Westminster.

The first Emerge Commissions programmes have now taken place.

The 5 commissions, in the five Emerge boroughs have covered diverse interests including:

working collaboratively

setting up an artist run space

curating a digital and analogue photography exhibition

running an education workshop on minimalism

maze networking

Emerge Arts Activists Commissions

The Emerge Arts Activists Commissions have now been selected. The projects are intended to stimulate professional development and networking in the Emerge boroughs and provide opportunities for the Emerge membership.

The selected projects are now listed in the Commissions section of the Emerge website.

We will be working with the artists over the next four months to develop their ideas with specialist advisors. Progress of each of the projects will be posted in the 'Members Projects' section of the Emerge website.

Arts Activists Commissions - Now Open!

Applications are now open for the new Emerge Arts Activists Commissions.

Deadline 6 December 2010

Awards for commissions range from £1,000 to £1,500 and include advisory support and guidance from invited partners. The themes and Boroughs for the Commissions are:

Curating - Brent

Networking - Enfield

Gallery Education - The Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea

Artist run space - Westminster

Collaboration - Barnet

Hello everyone.

Emerge is back from its summer holidays, with some good news!

We're very pleased to announce that emerge has been awarded an Arts Council England grant to support new Arts Activists Commissions in each of the emerge boroughs.

Each commission will be connected with a different emerge borough and will be based around a different theme, including curating, networking and gallery education.

The Arts Activists awards will range from £1,000 to £1,500 and projects will be supported by an additional materials allowance as well as support and advice from the emerge team and invited organisations.

Applications for the new Arts Activists Commissions will be open shortly and will be announced via the newsletter first.

Emerge will be back in the Autumn with new events and hopefully new artists commissions (we're fundraising now for them).

Newsletter to come later in the year with all our news.

We hope you enjoyed the first series of emerge events. Some will be back in the Autumn, along with new ones, we hope to see you there. We're also currently fundraising to support some new artist commissions - to programme education / curatorial and collaborative events in each of the project boroughs. All of these activities will be announced through our newsletter later in the year.
