The intimacy of a small elopement was the background for our Princess & The Frog Styled Shoot.   I knew that I wanted to do a shoot that was ethereal, romantic and I had envisioned the flowing gown before anything else came to fruition.  So when Julia told me she could have  a custom gown made by the amazing Evey Rothstein… I was all for it.
I have done many shoots with Julia and she knows me so well.  She knows I must have details, and that my vision needs to be brought to life.  This particular shoot came to fruition during a brainstorming session at the Cheesecake Factory during a birthday lunch.  Julia had as much input into this as I did, as it was near and dear to her heart.  She is very much into bringing a certain feeling and emotion to her shoots and this time she was also the bride and you can feel that in her eyes when you see the photos.   This shoot was even more special to me because we were using my son as the Best Man and daughter as the flower girl..The premise of the shoot being an intimate elopement with just the close close family/friends.

Really I could go on and on about it, but here I feel the photos speak more then I ever could!

Sunday we had the pleasure of shooting Jessica and Jose’s Romantic fairytale wedding at the Calamigos Equestrian Center .   This wedding venue located in Burbank, CA was the perfect backdrop for their special day.  When you say fairytale you think of something out of a Disney movie and Jessica reminded me of Giselle in Enchanted with her flowing golden hair and ball gown.  Not to mention, that she arrived in a horse drawn carriage AND they released Doves at the end of their wedding!  It was truly a FUN day for us, and we were so happy to be part of their  wedding.  We got to know Jose and Jessica along with Jose’s kids when we did their engagement session at Griffith Park, which you can see here.
What we really enjoyed was the FUN everyone truly seemed to have!  The day went by so quick because hanging out with them was like spending the day with friends.  I know how much work Jessica put into the details of her wedding and I think it came together beautifully! Jessica and Jose didn’t want to see each other but they wanted to do a faux first look where they could hold hands and get a few photos without seeing each other.  During the ceremony the first thing Jose did when Jessica got up to him, was stand back, grab his phone and take a photo and post it on social media!!!  What a world!
A few things that WE really enjoyed was the fact that Jessica got ready and had her Honeymoon night ( before jetting off to Paris) at Hotel Amarano which back in 2004 was called The Graciela and thats where I got ready and where we also stayed on our honeymoon night.   ALSO, the cake  ( and you know how much I love me some cake) was Helena Wirth who did our wedding cake!   So we really relived part of our wedding day which is coming up on 9 years in August!    Anyway…Thanks again guys for allowing to share in this big day!  xoxo

Los Angeles has thousands of wedding venues.  We wanted to showcase one of our favorite wedding venues so far. Ambassador Campus Pasadena has something for everyone.  From a sprawling great lawn, to mansions with gorgeous courtyards.  There is no lack of photo opportunities at this venue, that’s for sure.
When we shot Kate+ Sean’s wedding we were able to do their engagement photos there also which was a great way to get a feel for the venue. To use the grounds for photography you are required to have a permit and there is a fee.  If you book the venue for your wedding then you are allowed to use the grounds for engagement photos if you wish at no cost.  We know, that no 2 weddings are the same and we feel that we could shoot at this venue over and over and it never lose its appeal.
We are going to be back May 25th for Steve and Shannon’s wedding so be on the lookout for that, as well as a few other inquires we are getting.  We would love to shoot YOUR wedding there so visit our website and contact us for more information!

Nelson Nevada Ghost Town Shoot.  This was our 3rd, yes 3rd year back to this stunning location.  There are so many jaw dropping places to shoot at this venue you could come back year after year as we do and never shoot the same thing if you chose not to.  ( you can view previous years shoots here and here)  It is our most requested shootout during WPPI and we grab a giant bus and transport everyone to this hidden gem which is about 40 miles outside of Las Vegas.  This year we tried a subtle vintage circus vibe to it.   You dont see it in my photos since I dont shoot as much or as long as the other photographers who attend do, but we had balloons, popcorn in vintage containers, old trunks, and more.  We had a wedding theme but also you can see more fashion inspired clothing too.
One of our models recently blogged her experiences with modeling for us here at Ghost Town and you can read her post HERE. We are always so grateful to our creative team and our models for taking part in these shoots.   The creative team can be found credited at the bottom.

Here are the photos from our Neon Boneyard Shoot.  During our week stay in Las Vegas, we organized 3 Couture Clicks styled groups.  Couture Clicks are photo shoots we set up for other photographers so they have an opportunity to shoot for themselves.  A few of the models might look familiar because we did use a few of the same ones over the 3 days.  I love being able to work with the same models because they become accustomed to the hair/makeup team and they are comfortable with Josh and I.     There was no theme for this shoot, since we only had 2 hours. We had some bridal wear, some fun fashiony dresses and our child prodigy model ( who was also little Cosette in our Les Miserables shoot)  Even though we dont specialize in Kids, shooting this young lady was a pleasure, because she poses like a high fashion model and needs no instructions.  She was AMAZING!

This year we organized a Les Miserables styled wedding shoot. We did this as part of our Couture Clicks styled shoots that we do throughout the year.  We do BIG ones in Las Vegas ( you can view previous shoots from Las Vegas here, and here )  during WPPI and this year we had to do it bigger and better.  You know when you get an idea and you can’t stop thinking about it?  The minute I saw Les Miserables the movie  I knew I wanted to do this as a styled shoot.    All our wonderful creative team partners are listed at the bottom but I wanted to give a special thanks to Julia Diane Whitley of Serendipitous Events.  Julia helped style the successful masquerade shoot we did over the summer ( view that HERE).  I must have contacted Julia 3 times a day asking about various details of the shoot.  We would go to lunch and I would be frazzled and she was calm and collected and would just deliver more and more amazing details for me to think about.   Julia is like the older sister I never had, she is very special to me and I wanted to thank her publicly for EVERYTHING she has done not just for me, but for Josh and I and the business.  So Julia… we LOVE YOU and THANK YOU!!!!Thanks to our amazing creative team who helped bring this idea to fruition.

Maroon 5- Adam Levine.. enough said.  I have been a huge fan of the band since WAY back when, falling in love with some of the unknown tracks people probably have never heard of.. “How, Runaway” etc..   I have watched The Voice since day #1 and always been a fan of Team Adam.  I really feel that Adam has the finger on the pulse of what America needs musically.  Of course many out there disagree which is fine, but thats my opinion.  In October Josh surprised me with tickets to their small and intimate show at The Orpheum by grabbing them off craigslist…  sadly they were counterfeit and MANY MANY tears and expletives were used that night.  Luckily they felt bad and about 30 minutes into the show we got in and were able to see about 40 minutes.   Not nearly enough show for me, so when they announced their North American tour…. I bought tickets right away..  I am not usually a PIT person.. having been to many shows at the Universal ( now Gibson Amphitheater)  but I wanted to be up close and personal so through the fan club early pre-sale I snagged 2.  Of course the show wasn’t until March and I wanted to see them sooner.. when they announced a Vegas show in December.. I bought them with no hesitation.. Merry Christmas to me… and we went.  AWESOME…. more then AWESOME.  I could not wait for the L.A show.

So without further ado here is Emma + Josh’s Maroon 5 concert photos and review!!!!
The day of I was excited, but worried.  I was worried that I would get trampled on my way to the pit to get a good spot.. worried about standing for 3 hours, worried about EVERYTHING.   We arrived early taking the metro ( saved time on Friday afternoon in rush hour traffic) got our wristbands for PIT B at about 5:45pm and stood in front of the doors were only about 10 other people were.   Doors however dont open till 7pm and I HATE waiting.. so I was antsy and anxious.  Plus I was hungry… but I figured I could grab a pretzel inside.  When they finally opened the doors, I rushed and I mean RUSHED to the entrance where the pit access was and pretty much RAN down to grab a spot.. there was only another couple in there and I grabbed a great spot next to the stage.. IWASTHISCLOSE it was pretty insane.   Sadly there was no eating or drinking in the pit and I wasn’t about to lose my spot.. oh HECK NO.   What I really LOVED was that the pit was not crowded.. in fact during the 2 opening acts there was barely 30 people in each side.
The opening act was Owl City, who to be honest I dont quite care for, but it could have been worse.  They put on a decent show.  Next up was Neon Tree’s and it felt like a 30 minute 80′s video.  The energy was INTENSE and I do like a few of their songs, so it was entertaining.
During the intermission the pit filled up a bit but still no more then 60 people… which if you have been to a pit is not crowded AT ALL. people could freely walk from one side of the our section of pit to the other.
When they finally came on.. I swear I felt like a 16 yr old girl again.  THERE HE WAS!  HEWASTHISCLOSETOMEICANTBREATHE.

The setlist I had found out earlier so it wasn’t a surprise to me at all and there are a few songs I would rather have heard but it kept the flow going very well.

If I had to choose, I enjoyed the Harder to Breathe into Wake up Call set as well as Lucky Strike and Sunday Morning.  Adam puts his HEART and SOUL into every song, as is evident by the photos.   He really makes an effort to engage the crowd and since LA was his hometown and he is a HUGE Lakers fan, being at the Staples Center was a highlight for him.
He does not reach into the crowd at all, which I can understand.  He does make eye contact with people in the pit area and even pointed at a few younger girls super excited and who had signs.  At one point he did high 5 a very small girl on her dad’s shoulders ( which was actually a non no) but that was AWESOME she was soooooo happy.
At one point Adam dropped one of his guitar picks and it sat there right in front of me.. but we had been warned not to touch the stage or stand on the rail and I didn’t want to get kicked out.  Then the video guy who was pretty much in our area all night getting the images shown on the large screens.. grabbed it and handed it to me.  YES! It’s the silly things in life right?

The stage is split into 3 sections for the M and it even had a bridge that came down which connect to a square stage in the middle of the floor. This is where he did 3 of the encore songs.. which was a bit of a bad view since we were all then behind him BUT great for the other audience who got a close up view also.
For Payphone they had pre-recorded Wiz Khalifa’s part and integrated it with the stage show which was awesome!  I really enjoyed that.   I only knew who Rozzi Crane was from the Hunger Games soundtrack song, but she was there to come out on Wake Up Call and Moves Like Jagger…I dont know if it was needed but hey.  What I was really hoping for was Travie McCoy of Gym Class Heroes to make a surprise appearance for Stereo hearts since its my sisters fav song… but no..   But I still sent a voice memo of it so she could hear which i have one at all 3 shows!

I think we got some AMAZING images with not only the Panasonic Lumix we brought but with our iphones also.
