The  Italian consul,  Guido De Sanctis  came under fire in his car in the eastern Libyan city of Benghazi on Saturday 12th January,  but was unhurt and saved by the bullet-proof glass and armour-plated vehicle he was in.
The car, an Alpha Armouring® SUV based on Mercedes G-Wagon with AGP´s special transparent armor, was hit by several bullets, but the armor held and no one was injured. Some shots - apparently fired from another car at an intersection - were shattered against windows , at the level of heads of diplomatic and that of the driver.

Video footage shown on Sky TG24 showed several gunshots to the windows of the vehicle.

All the occupants survived without any injuries and no bullet reached the Vehicle Passenger Compartment. Another testimonial of AGP in the business of savings lives!

The laboratory meets the highest international standards for quality and safety and includes the latest technology in facilities and equipment, which allows for optimum ballistic performance testing. Testing capabilities include standards and regulations such as EN 1063, NIJ 0108.01, VPAM 2006, UL 752 and STANAG 4569. These include ranges in ammunition from .38 to 7.62 x 51 caliber armor piercing.

The opening of the Ballistic Laboratory in AGP Colombia increases efficiency by streamlining the raw material receiving and testing process while allowing for the approval of  new materials and suppliers.

During the event, the three companies presented their product solutions, which included AGP’s transparent armor and Tencate and Bentler’s opaque armor. AGP was represented by Klaus Steuer, Defense Commercial Manager for the Asia-Pacific market, who provided a presentation about AGP’s BRG products for multiple applications.

The attendees included representatives of local armoring companies for both military and civilian vehicles, as well as representatives from the Phillipine Army.

Klaus Steuer stated: “I received only positive reactions about this event! It was the first time that AGP has participated in an event in the Asian/Pacific market and I think it helped us to lay the foundation for expanding our business in the area.”

This initiative will help AGP to become known in the Philippines as a viable option considering our high levels of quality and technology. Currently, we are continuing to work with potential clients to gain new business in the country. Similar events are being planned for other countries in the Asia / Pacific region.

AGP's participation in this show gave ​​it very positive results: it was noted that AGP is the market leader in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, we got to know more about the market and consumers, established over 40 new contacts, some of them with the Navy and Coast Guards of Arabia and Europe.

The AGP Stand exhibited Security Line products and included samples of Anti-Riot glass (3KL) Level 2 and Light Armor (Stop Gun 12). The event allowed the launch of these products for Law Enforcement personnel in the U.S. market and provided a platform for vehicle manufacturers, installers and end-users to familiarize themselves more with the AGP glass products.

The team formed between North Glass and AGP has become the official supplier of transparent armor for the military vehicles program produced by Komatsu for the Self-Defense Forces of Japan for over ten years. The consistent focus of the whole team has been to fully satisfy customer needs.

All these efforts have been recognized by Komatsu during its annual event in which those providers with the best performance are rewarded. The AGP-North Glass team received an award for being one of the top three outstanding suppliers for the period 2011 - 2012. Komatsu expressed special thanks for the timely and excellent quality of the first orders for 2012 that were requested with a particularly short delivery time.

Participation in DSA allowed the major market players attending the fair, to know AGP, whose presence is beginning to consolidate in this market. It also showed the role of AGP as a supplier of military projects in India and Europe. Because of this, we identified several military projects in the region that we already are working on proposals and managed to close some orders for AGP glass samples with customers from the Philippines and Australia.
