Hey everyone! This past month has been slow. I had/am having a minor ongoing medical emergency, and while it is not currently affecting my ability to make comics, it was for a couple of weeks leading up to this post, so I am a bit behind where I would like to be.

Patrons did get to read this update early, but I no longer have that full month and a half buffer that was keeping the stress at bay, so right now I’m rushing to get the last batches of pages in this chapter done to remedy that. My hope is that I’ll get back on track pretty quickly, but I am still sorting medical stuff out so I also have that on my plate.

MY CURRENT TO-DO LIST

My previous to do list was pretty long, and now it’s a bit longer because I’m actually doing that final batch, so it made sense to break it down into the usual steps. I cannot tell y’all how excited I am to work on the next chapter, it is going to be extremely fun and satisfying for the both of us, and hopefully for readers, too.

• Sketch the next batch of pages.
• Ink the next batch of pages.
• Colour the next batch of pages.
• Start on the final batch for this chapter.
• Sketch the final batch of pages for this chapter.
• Ink the final batch of pages for this chapter. (I have this one 75% done!)
• Colour the final batch of pages for this chapter.
• When the poll ends, do a couple fun illustrations/wallpapers for Valentines day.
• Reformat the first ebook with the updated art and extras and find a home for it.
• Do the cover for Book 05!
• Chapter 25 planning with Shay
• Thumbnailing and storyboarding for chapter 25
• Start the first batch of pages for chapter 25

Sorry this is so barebones! I’m getting back on track, but at a pace that isn’t going to set me back health-wise. I am mostly just relieved that this batch of pages went up on time, and that I’m on my way to finishing up the next batch if you squint real hard.

Hey all, this past month was a bit of a blur–I’ve been working pretty much non-stop, but we’re at that point in the year where my seasonal affective depression is in full swing thanks to the continued snow/freezing cold/overcast weather, so it feels like I am moving in slow motion with even the most basic of tasks. Things are getting done, but by god are they slow-going.

Thankfully, the days are already notably getting longer, so things can only go up from here. On to the news!

I had fun doing another poll, and it made me think back to the mix and match poll wallpapers I used to do way back. I’m not going to set one up for next month because I have a lot to do between now and then (finishing this chapter and then starting the next, new book cover + chapter cover, plotting out the next chapter and thumbnailing the entire thing before I start in on pages), but once I’ve actually got a batch of pages for the next chapter done, I’ll have time for it.

I’m hoping that colouring the current batch goes smoothly, because there was a major scene change and I don’t have colours picked out for anything. Once I’ve got that done, the last batch should go much more quickly!

We will see you next month on the 15th of March. The next batch is only 4 pages, because 8 pages was too big, and a split of 5 pages and then 3 pages was a weird place to separate the conversation between two updates. April’s updates will also be 4 pages as a result of this decision.

I am thinking also that you will all be getting an extra update at the beginning of May–we’ve been debating back and forth on whether or not both the book 5 cover and the chapter 25 cover should be their own, early updates. I don’t like to count covers as part of a batch, because it feels a little like a cop out, and I also think there’s a lot of fun to be had by posting both the book cover and the chapter cover early, because the first will hopefully provide a bit of a sneak preview of events that will be taking place over the whole of book 5, and the second will hopefully get y’all hyped for what chapter 25 has in store!
