I’m gonna go ahead and admit that this week has been really tough. Technically my due date is May 25th which was determined by ultrasound, but by my calculations my due date is May 14th and I’ve been measuring a week ahead (of the May 25th due date) this whole pregnancy. Also, Gracen was born 10 days early and Darby was a week early so I somehow got it in my head that this baby would also be early. So this past week when we had gotten all our supplies together I just expected for it to ‘happen’ and for me to go into labor and have our little one because we were ready. When it didn’t happen the way I thought it should I started to get kinda down, the pressure that I placed on myself started to get a little overwhelming. The worst thing about this is that I know better, I know that my body will not ease into labor with all this added pressure, I know that there is no way on earth that I want any chemicals in my body forcing my body into labor and I know that when my little one is ready, he will come. I read one of my birthing books last night that helped me refocus and reminded me that the reason labor starts is because the baby produces a hormone that lets my body know that he is ready to come. Even if I am ready and my body is ready, we are waiting for him to be ready to greet this world…and that is worth waiting for. It’s much easier said than done but for now I’m going to relax and keep reminding myself that he will come when he is ready. I guess this is my first lesson in having patience with my newest little one

I apologize for not getting this to you on Friday, but this week has been crazy! Basically nesting hit me like a ton of bricks and since we didn’t have much ready in the house I’ve had to spend the last week running around like a mad woman trying to get it all together! It is the first time I’ve really experienced true “nesting”, I just didn’t really have the urge with the other two but this time I want everything to be perfect. I even took apart a box fan yesterday to clean it! I feel like every time I turn around there is another mess to clean, it doesn’t help that I have a four year old and a toddler to clean up after too!

But today was my last ‘errand running’ day and I got everything that I needed done so now I’m on strict instruction from my hubby to rest for the next couple of days!

These last few months as I’ve gotten bigger my motivation has slowly waned, but these last few weeks I have realized that if I actually put a little effort in I will feel much better. I never really ‘feel’ like waking up in the morning, or going for a walk, or even getting dressed and putting on make-up but if I push through it and actually follow through and do those things my day goes much better and I feel better about myself.

I’ve also been trying to get as many things prepared for baby as possible. Freezing meals, folding tiny little onesies, and blowing the birth pool up in our living room…all signs point to baby!

Today marks 36 weeks pregnant for me. It’s a very important day because this means I’m officially official for my home birth. At this point the only wrench in our plan could be if I get to 42 weeks but with the way things are looking, it’s not likely!

My midwife came over today, the supplies are all set up and my birth pool will be here sometime in the next week! We seriously can’t believe it’s already here but we have been slowly but surely getting ready and the time is fast approaching…I’m really trying not to use exclamation points at the end of each sentence, but that’s how I feel!!

The expectation and excitement of our new little soul being brought into our family is just now starting to sink in. There will be another little human here soon, not just a baby but someone who will grow up and become someone. That is a HUGE deal! We are just taking one day at a time getting as much ‘prepared’ as we can but this being our third we know to expect the unexpected! Everything will work out in the end.
