Avec Sandrine Kiberlain, Pascal Elbé, Elina Löwensohn, Pierre-Luc Brillant, Louis Morissette, Maxim Roy, Françoise Graton, Gilles Pelletier...

Romaine a 30 ans.

(At 30, Romaine is settled in her life and has a steady relationship with her boyfriend Justin. Then, one Christmas, her life changes forever. Justin takes her to the airport and announces that they are to start a new life together, raising dogs in Canada. Romaine is not enthused by the idea but agrees to play along for the time being. In mid-flight over the Atlantic, Romaine hears the air hostess mention that the plane is about to crash. Fearing that she has just a few minutes left to live, Romaine opens her heart to Justin. But the anticipated disaster doesn’t happen, and Romaine has to live with the consequences of what she has said...)

Robert Schumann - Genoveva - Nikolaus Harnoncourt

2009-09-30T03:41:00.000-07:00

Robert Schumann - Genoveva - Harnoncourt (Teldec)

Genoveva (Op. 81) is an opera in four acts by Robert Schumann in the genre of German Romanticism with a libretto by Robert Reinick and the composer. The only opera Schumann ever wrote, it received its first performance on 25 June 1850 at the Stadttheater in Leipzig, with the composer conducting. It received only three performances during the premiere, and the negative criticism it received in the press played a decisive role in Schumann's decision to not write a second opera.
Genoveva has never won a large popular audience, but it continues to be revived at regular intervals throughout the world and has been recorded several times.

Synopsis

Act 1
The opera begins with Hidulfus, Bishop of Trier, summoning Brabant's Christian knights to join Charles Martel's crusade against a feared Saracen conquest of Europe. Siegfried, Count of Brabante, answers the call. In preparing to leave for war, he entrusts his wife, Genoveva, to his young servant, Golo.

Act 2
Despite Golo's overwhelming desire for her, Genoveva persistently rejects his advances. Infuriated by these rejections, Golo seeks revenge against Genoveva by staging a trap to discredit her. One night, Golo sneaks Drago, an old steward, into Genoveva's bedroom to fake an adulterous affair that is then witnessed by other servants, brought to the scene by Golo. In their rage, the servants kill Drago and Genoveva is imprisoned for adultery.

Act 3
Word of this imagined infidelity gets back to Siegfried, who then commands Golo to put Genoveva to death. Drago's ghost appears in front of Margaretha and tells her that if does not reveal the truth, she will die.

Act 4
As two armed men are dispatched to kill Genoveva, her life is saved through the intervention of a mute, deaf boy. Siegfried then discovers Golo's treachery and restores his wife's honour.

That's Adultery (1975)

That's Adultery (1975)

In this zany comedy, four situations involving adultery provide fuel for laughter. A young man's skill at impersonating his boss gets him into bed with his boss's wives in the first segment. In the second, a Japanese woman commits adultery. The third concerns a couple who resume their relationship after one of them marries another. In the fourth, a woman is blackmailed by a third party who photographs her having sex with her lover while her husband is away. His price is to have a sexual relationship with the unfaithful wife. ~ Clarke Fountain, All Movie Guide

Ken Russell - The Music Lovers (1970)

“

The compelling and bizarre story of Tchaikovsky's life and music. Excellent classic soundtrack.

”

IMDB

IMDB Review:

“

"The Music Lovers" captures the Ken Russell style at its best. It's a full blown expression of his romanticized, shocking, exaggerated biographies, previously seen in black and white, low-budget BBC productions (more adequately financed here thanks to the success of "Women In Love"). Russell's excessive style contrasts the supreme beauty of Tchaikovsky's music with the turbulent, tormented, messy life from which it arose. The visual flights of fancy succeed in conveying the musical transcendence. Performances go way over the top, but the treatment calls for it. Richard Chamberlain bravely goes where few actors would in 1970. Glenda Jackson is absolutely fearless. She'll do whatever it takes, from writhing around nude to shaving her head. There's no denying the film is a deliberate assault on the senses, but thoughtful viewers will leave with much to contemplate and digest. I should not omit the fact that it's highly entertaining as well.

UPDATE: I just added this video to Mojiti where you can actually write your comments into the video itself. It is an exciting experiment in "Video 2.0". Go check it out at http://mojiti.com/kan/2024/3313 and add your voice!

Transcripts are now available as well:
http://mediatedcultures.net/ksudigg/?...

A couple of people have noted that the statement, "XML was created to do just that" (separate form from content) is misleading because CSS enables the same effect with HTML. I tried to integrate CSS into the video, but it ruined the flow. Perhaps in the next draft.

My statement on XML is based on the following from xml.com: "In order to appreciate XML, it is important to understand why it was created. XML was created so that richly structured documents could be used over the web. The only viable alternatives, HTML and SGML, are not practical for this purpose. HTML, as we've already discussed, comes bound with a set of semantics and does not provide arbitrary structure."

Thank you all for the comments. With your help the next draft will be cleaned up and hopefully free of factual errors.

A higher quality version is available for download here: http://www.mediafire.com/?6duzg3zioyd Please note that this is the second draft and the final version will not be available until late February after I review all comments and revise the video. Please return for a new download link at that time.

Asterix And Obelix XXL 2 Mission Las Vegum (Size: 2,30 GB) - Multi5

Asterix & Obelix XXL 2: Mission Las Vegum takes you on an action-packed tour of the astonishing "Las Vegum" theme park. In this original scenario, Getafix the famous druid is behaving very strangely, and all the other renowned druids of the Roman Empire have disappeared...

Las Vegum, "the city of games," is the brainchild of the visionary Julius Caesar. Its labyrinthine streets will lead you through the districts of Little Paris, WCW, LuckSore, Little Venetia, Pirate Island, and even SeizeUs Palace. Along the way, the program is packed with pumped-up Romans alongside some curiously familiar characters paying tribute to the wider world of games.
And who other should top the bill than Centurion Larry Craft - who insists on jumping around in canvas shorts, rather than wear a skirt like everybody else. Fortunately Asterix and Obelix can count on the aid of a repentant Roman spy with inside knowledge of new-fangled techniques.

Natural Gas Hydrates, Second Edition: A Guide for Engineers

John Carroll, "Natural Gas Hydrates, Second Edition: A Guide for Engineers"
Gulf Professional Publishing | 2009 | ISBN: 0750684909 | 248 pages | PDF | 5,2 MB

The petroleum industry spends millions of dollars every year to combat the formation of hydrates - the solid, crystalline compounds that form from water and small molecules - that cause problems by plugging transmission lines and damaging equipment. They are a problem in the production, transmission and processing of natural gas and it is even possible for them to form in the reservoir itself if the conditions are favorable.

Natural Gas Hydrates is written for the field engineer working in the natural gas industry, This book explains how, when and where hydrates form, while providing the knowledge necessary to apply remedies in practical applications, . New to the second edition, the use of new inhibitors: Kinetic Inhibitors and Anticoagulants and the topic of kinetics of hydrates. How fast do they form? How fast do they melt? New chapters on Hydrates in Nature, hydrates on the seafloor and a new section has also been added regarding the misconceptions about water dew points. Chapters on Hydrate Types and Formers, Computer Methods, Inhibiting Hydrate Formation with Chemicals, Dehydration of Natural Gas and Phase Diagrams Hydrate Dehydration of Natural Gas and Phase Diagrams have been expanded and updated along with the companion website

* Understand what gas hydrates are, how they form and what can be done to combat their formation
* Avoid the same problems BP experienced with clogged pipelines
* Presents the four most common approaches to evaluate hydrates: heat, depressurization, inhibitor chemicals, and dehydration.

Meteorological and Air Quality Models for Urban Areas

Alexander Baklanov, Sue Grimmond, Alexander Mahura, Maria Athanassiadou, "Meteorological and Air Quality Models for Urban Areas"
Springer | 2009-06-01 | ISBN: 3642002978 | 150 pages | PDF | 4,6 MB

This book for the first time gives an overall view of the current situation in urbanization of meteorological and air quality models around the world. It discusses and makes recommendations on the best practice and strategy for urbanization of different types of meteorological and air quality models. Based on the selected presentations given at the COST728 workshop, the contributions are arranged in four parts: urban morphology and databases; parameterizations of urban canopy; strategy for urbanization of different types of models; and, evaluation and city case studies/field studies. The chapters treat either dynamic (on wind and turbulent) and thermal effects (on temperature and energy in general). The final chapter of this volume summarizes the discussion and conclusions from the four main topics and provides recommendations and future requirements. This monograph is oriented towards numerical weather prediction and air quality modelling communities.

Enjoy this great book!
