Enlighten Up! To Be Released in Theaters Nationally!

Here is our big news for 2009: Enlighten Up!, distributed by Balcony Releasing, will open in theaters across the country beginning April 1, 2009!

Launching our release, we open in New York City at the IFC Center. From NY, we expand to Los Angeles on April 17 where we will play at the Laemmle’s Monica 4 and Playhouse 7, Pasadena. Potential cities to follow include: San Francisco, Berkeley, San Diego, Seattle, Portland, Chicago, Denver, D.C. and Philadelphia.

The plan is to add many more cities, but much of that is determined based by our opening weekend box office gross. It�??s simple, if we can bring in big numbers, we have a shot at a long run in many cities.

If you live in one of the cities listed above and are interested in helping us promote the film, please send us an e-mail. We need help with e-mail blasts, connecting to yoga studios, and spreading the word throughout your community.

In each city, we will offer a complimentary preview screening for yoga teachers; if you are a teacher and want to be on the invite list, please send an e-mail including your contact information and a link to the studio where you teach.

More details will follow in the coming months. We plan to release the DVD in late 2009 following what we hope to be a long theatrical run.

San Francisco Update: Saturday is SOLD OUT, Tuesday is Selling Fast

The Saturday, 10/25 show is sold-out. Tickets are still available for the 7:15 pm Tuesday, 10/28 show at the San Francisco International Documentary Festival. The Tuesday tickets are selling fast, so please get your tickets in advance. Both screenings will be at The Roxie Theater.

Kate to speak at the Apple Store, San Francisco

San Francisco & Sao Paulo, Brazil next stops for Enlighten Up!

After a huge evening in Boulder, with almost 600 people attending, we are now heading west to screen Enlighten Up! at the San Francisco International Documentary Festival. We are booked for two shows only (Saturday, October 25 at 5:00pm and Tuesday, October 28 at 7:15pm), so please get your tickets in advance. Both screenings will be at The Roxie Theater.

Enlighten Up! at the Boulder Theater Tonight Only

TONIGHT (9/30): one-night engagement at the Boulder Theater at 8pm. Here is a line-up of tonight’s pre-show events:
6:30 PM complimentary yoga class sponsored by lululemon athletica and taught by Caroline Kelley.
7:00 PM Doors Open. New Era Colorado , a non-partisan organization will be doing voter registration before the October 6 deadline.
8:00 PM REI will be giving away some great swag and gift cards in a pre-show drawing (including a $50 gift card and a Mountain Hardware Jacket).
Director Kate Churchill and Star/Boulderite Nick Rosen will be present at the screening and answers questions following the show.

Goodbye Boston, Hello Boulder!

We are off to the Rocky Mountains with a one-night engagement at the Boulder Theater Tuesday, September 30 at 8pm. There will be a complimentary yoga class sponsored by lululemon athletica and taught by Caroline Kelley (6:30-7PM). Both Nick and I will be at the show for Q & A. REI will be giving away some great swag and gift cards in a pre-show drawing (including a $50 gift card and a Mountain Hardware Jacket). The theater seats 900 people, so I imagine it is going to be a rocking show.

Looking ahead to October, we are hitting the west coast where Enlighten Up! will screen at the International San Francisco Documentary Festival. We are booked in for two shows only (10/25 & 10/28), so please get your tickets in advance.

And finally, the best news of all…we are partnering with a great distributor for NATIONAL DISTRIBUTION starting in 2009. More details to follow.

Free Yoga, Free Gear, Q & A this weekend at the Kendall Square Cinema

There will be a mini yoga festival going on throughout the weekend at the Kendall Square Cinema around the screenings of Enilghten Up! .

REI will be there on Friday (9/19), with free gear giveaways before each screening. Healthworks will be there Saturday also with free gear. Aaron Cantor. Prana Power Yoga Teachers, Rebecca Pacheco, AcroYoga stars and Laughing Yoga Groups will lead classes before select screenings throughout the weekend (please note: classes start 45 minutes before showtime and are outside, weather permitting). Protagonist, Nick Rosen and Director Kate Churchill will be at all screenings on Friday for Questions-and-Answers. Kate will lead Questions & Answers on Saturday and Sunday as well.

We had a great crowd at the MFA and are looking forward to the same at Kendall–if you are planning to come, you may want to buy tickets in advance online. Hope to see you at the show!

WOW — What a Weekend!

It was the best possible way to have a local debut, with over a 1000 people attending throughout the weekend and a fabulous party on Friday night to kick it off. Hopefully, we will have pictures soon to post on the site.

Since Friday night was so packed, we were worried that the rest of the houses would be very small, but were thrilled each time we walked into the theater to find large crowds. Nick Rosen was in town as was Norman Allen and all of our creative team. There were Questions-and-Answers Sessions following every screening, which kept Nick and me on our toes.

Many thanks to all who turned out, it was great to see you, and the big news is…you helped us be the #2 largest grossing independent film (per location) in the NATION! We are stunned and so appreciative of everyone who showed up for the show.

Now, it is on to the Kendall Square Cinema in Cambridge. Friday, Saturday and Sundays are the big days, so if you are in Boston�??please come and see the show. We have a wide range of co-presenters giving away free gear (REI & Whole Foods Market), and there will be mini free yoga classes (complete list of details).

I will be at screenings throughout the weekend for Questions and Answers, and our protagonist, Nick Rosen, will be at the screenings all day on Friday.
