Position Overview

The Senior Mechanical Engineer position is a senior, client-facing role requiring the ability to inspire confidence from the taking of a client brief through proposal preparation and project execution. Proven design excellence in complex facilities (central utility centers, process/manufacturing buildings, laboratories, data centers etc.) is required. Leadership is an important part of this role. The ability to motivate and mentor others in a dynamic growing office environment is required. The successful candidate will be required to do some travel as part of their duties.

Essential Job Functions

Carry out conceptual design studies.
Carry out detailed engineering including preparation of calculations and drawings directly and through supervision of other engineers. Typical areas of design include:

HVAC design for complex facilities including clean rooms and laboratories
Utility system design – heating and cooling systems (generation and distribution), steam systems etc.
Clean utility system design – generation and distribution of purified water, WFI and clean steam
Specification and procurement of mechanical equipment (AHU’s, chillers, boilers etc.)
Ensuring code compliance in issued design deliverables

Lead, develop and mentor mechanical engineering staff
Review submissions and installations for compliance with design intent and good engineering practice
Being resident on a construction site for short periods as required
Witness commissioning activities, trials and factory acceptance tests for compliance with design intent and good engineering practice • Act as project manager for engineering studies
Plan and manage work and resources
Present PM Group’s mechanical engineering capability to potential clients in support of proposals
Liaise and coordinate with other disciplines within the USA offices, within other PM Group offices and with external consultants.

Requirements

Degree in Mechanical Engineering
Registered Professional Engineer (PE) in Massachusetts
Demonstrated capability in mechanical / building services design
Experience across a range of PM Group’s industry Sectors (http://www.pmgroup-global.com/sectors.aspx) would be an advantage
Ideally 10+ years professional experience
Self motivating and self organising
Reliable, consistent and mature approach to work

Dublin-based pricing intelligence firm Profitero has been announced the IBM Global Entrepreneur of the Year at the IBM SmartCamp Global Finals in San Francisco, California. Profitero beat off strong competition from almost 1,.000 start-ups from around the globe to win the title. The technology company provides a next-generation pricing intelligence service for retailers and manufacturers.

IBM SmartCamps are designed to provide entrepreneurs with the mentoring and insight needed to innovate in their markets. Past participants from IBM SmartCamp competitions have captured the attention of the venture capital community with nearly $50 million in investments, and have expanded to new global markets.

Profitero was founded by Volodymyr Pigrukh (CEO), Dmitry Vysotski (CTO) and Kanstantsin Chernysh (VP Engineering) in late 2010. The company has grown in the retail analysis space since its foundation, and now hopes to partner with IBM to expand their operations in the UK and throughout Europe. The company is based at Mediacube Digital Media Incubation Centre, Dún Laoghaire Institute of Art, Design and Technology (IADT) in South County Dublin.

Cubic Telecom‘s Maxroam has been made PCMAG.COM current Editors’ Choice for a global roaming SIM card. The editors found Cubic Telecom’s roaming SIM card to be inexpensive and flexible enough to make a good solution for anyone traveling to Europe. The article also focused on the ease with which the Maxroam SIM card can be set up, as well as the ability to easily monitor data usage. PCMAG.COM were impressed with the Maxroam website’s ability to quote data usage in real time, the warning messages provided to customers when a phone is low on credit, as well the lack of ambiguity with the final bill since it is a prepaid card.

An Irish delegation is embarking on an upcoming trade mission to strengthen economic and trade ties between North Carolina and Ireland. A key element to the Mission is a Life Science networking and partnering event to take place at the North Carolina Biotechnology Center.
