Generally, no surprises. Very much enya-ish. Those who desire faster tracks, please go get a pop album – heck, go get Madonna!

Enya has her own style and the music here only shows that style.

This album is reminiscient of “The Celts”…heavy cello works on some tracks, especially “Less than a pearl”. I think “Amarantine” and “Sumiregusa” are very unique, especially the latter. Sumi- has a mysterious abstract quality about it, and I love the muscially dissonant (almost distortional) effects of the music arrangement in the emphatical parts of the piece. “If I could be where you are” immediately conjures images of a desolate yet hopeful voice in the middle of an cold empty snow-laden street…

With the exception of “Water shows the hidden heart”, I’m afraid I’m not crazy about the tracks after the 7th track. All the pieces, e.g. “Someone said goodbye”, “Amid the falling snow” brought me back to earth again as they sound too layman-nish…like insipid tracks on a a flat movie soundtrack.

I’m not sure what the fuss is about the new language, for a few reasons. It’s not known to any other than the language composer, the calligraphy looks simple, almost like “sticks-and-crossout” symbols, and still sounds gaellic.

So, truly, there are a couple of gems, in terms of musical innovation. Most of the pieces are very earthly pieces and a trifle flat. For that, I’d rate this album 7/10. Enya, Roma and Nicky should consider teaming up with other artises like Secret Garden, enigma, deep forest, kitaro, Chyi Yu, Loreen McKeenitt, mars lasar, chris spheeris, chris botti and yes, Vangelis to chart new frontiers…
