Now JeffG was like “Ephman why are you wearing dark pants, and white gym socks?”. “Because it's distracting.” Ephman said. According to JeffG "the rule is that your socks should be darker then your pants, except if you're wearing sneakers." However, Ephman would never be caught dead wearing sneakers and dress pants.</div> <div style="margin-bottom: 0in;"> </div> <div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">Now you must be thinking that Ephman has no idea about fashion. But that is so not true. Infact he grew up in the “schamata” business. At 14 he could run an industrial circular knitting machine. Don't ask why. Now these are in no particular order. Makes you feel like your treking through the Golden Triangle on an elephant during the 1930's. So when he came across Rogan Gregory and Scott Mackinlay Hahn, Loomstate Organic Ephman thought why not? All the fabrics are certified organic cotton. No idea who does the certification, probably them. But whatever. <p>A regular thing in his wardrobe is a shirt. It's a black double front pocketed shirt with antiquish looking white metal buttons. But it's the detail that Ephman loves. All the buttons have their logo engraved, and nice white. Also he has a pair of black denim pants. A bit scratchy, maybe that's the organic cotton showing though. But ya know what? And then does it huge. <p>Never heard of this fellow until in like 2004 he opened one of the first stores in the Meat Packing District. And Ephman's been a fan ever since. He's bought a few things from him.</p> <p> One of Ephman's favorite pieces of clothes is this cashmere hoodie, with that single pocket tummy pockets. You know can put both of your hands in. There's this little spermy looking designy thing on the front. It's funny. He's also got this nice purple shirt and you can button the sleeves up. Kind of militarish but whatever, Ephman like it. You'd think Ephman wouldn't be into the Ferragamo. No so. Actually Ephman loves the Salvatore. Put it this way, if he's going to go for an “old school” designer that no longer really designs his own stuff (because he's dead) anymore. But dead or not Salvatore is cool. <p>No idea why everybody flocks to Armani, Prada, etc... Farragamo does it all. He came to the brand in Montreal on some snowy day. This store was closing and was blowing out everything. Even the shelves. So sitting on the rack was this nice looking tuxedo. Ephman tried it on, and was like WOW, this is nnnniiiiiccccceeeee. When he got back to NYC, brought it straight to Hong Kong Tailor Jack, who so masterly took up the hem.</p> <p>Amazing, for some reason it was as if Ferragamo had my size already done. Wearing his stuff is like wearing a custom fitting. So thumbs up!</p> </td> </tr> </tbody> </table> <p> This might just be one of those blog posts that Ephman from time to time keeps adding to. He really does love good design, and clothes. His wife makes fun of him about it, because usually girls are crazy about this stuff. But make no mistake about Ephman ain't no metrosexual. Nah Ephman was at City Winery for Robyn Hitchcock.  But let's first say if you've never seen a concert at City Winery you should, it's one of New York's finest venues... on so many different levels.&srcURL=http://www.ephman.com&srcTitle=Ephman's Top 10, Reviews, Events, and Just About Anything Else'> </a></div><p>The concert started off with a great Sauvignon blanc, and some cheese... Nah Ephman was at City Winery for Robyn Hitchcock. But let's first say if you've never seen a concert at City Winery you should, it's one of New York's finest venues... on so many different levels.</p> <p>Was this the best concert Ephman's ever seen? No. Was it the worst? Far from it. What made this show so enjoyable though (aside from the bottle of wine), was that Robyn Hitchcock is not perfect. Unlike the last few times where he was spot on. It was nice to see him miss chords, start songs on the wrong key, and forget words.</p> <p>So why is that so great? Well put it this way... it felt like Robyn was in your basement just fooling around. Who knows if he was purposely fouling out. But whatever the imperfections were great. Made you feel like you were there to see something special happening.</p> <p> </p> <p></p> <p> </p> <p>Robyn was backed by a great singer, and if you watch the video below you'll notice him. His name is Sean Nelson. So glad Ephman was introduced to his voice. WOW, what a perfect match to harmonize with Robyn. And you totally know that the next album he buys will be Sean's band Harvey Danger.</p> <p>Also on stage was the emancipated Patty Smith guitar player Lenny Kaye. Lenny was great. Not only is he a good guitar player, but he's also a fine producer in his own right. He's worked with Allen Ginsberg to Soul Asylum. He didn't say a word, but had a nice smile on his face the whole time. Really looked like he was out there having some fun! Sorry Lenny ran out of battery to catch you on video :(</p> <p>But if you ever get a chance to see Robyn play you will laugh your arse off. He's so funny. Funny in a whacked out took too much acid way. He's so great at interacting with the audience, way better then most of his peers. Ephman guesses he said he like a song he just played a bit too loud, and he heard. Robyn then said "that was a good song to love". You can just tell he loves the audience, and plays for them totally.</p> <p>Ok so if you're a regular follower of this blog you'll know that basically Ephman goes to the concert for the show, and rarely takes set lists. Names to songs are just labels man, meant to help the man put you down. So the gist is that Robyn played a Bob Dylan song, a Jimi Hendrix tune, a Doors song, and then a bunch of his and some other peoples. Ok that's the set list from what can be remembered, even though it was last evening.</p> <p>If you're around NYC in the next few days, he'll be playing The Music of The Who at Carnegie Hall. He was even a Gilles Villeneuve fan. Hey come on Ephman's Canadian, so what can ya say? But should he return to Formula One?</p> <p>Jacques aka JV to his fans, has been working insanely hard for a return. He started last year after his failed NASCAR, attempt. He's shown up to a bunch of races last year. And hung out with some of his old teams. There was a quote someplace that referred to Jacques Villeneuve as to saying something about how with the slick tires, no driver assist technology, he'd have a lot more fun driving these cars. As opposed to the BMWSauber machine he walked out of the car after crashing out. And then quit F1.</p> <p>Not going to get into the whole JV is amazing, or JV sucks debate here. Both sides have awesome arguments. Yes, JV is both F1 World Champion, and CART Champion (almost winning the triple crown by finishing 2nd at the 24hrs Le Mans). Yes, JV totally fell apart after he quit Williams, and started BAR. Whatever, who cares. He's one of those drivers that is both amazing and sucks at the same time. Probably because he's disappointed so many people over such a long period of time. But he's still gunning for things.</p> <p>OK, so for the past like 6 months, really ever since the last season ended Jacques Villeneuve has been linked to so many different teams. Lotus, Renault, USF1, and now some other team that doesn't even have a spot on the grid from Serbia called Stefan GP. Stefan GP's car is basically a salvaged Toyota F1. But both JV and Ralf Schumacher have been linked with comebacks to this team.</p> <p>Ephman has to admit he was a bit disappointed when Lotus and USF1 didn't pick he boy JV for this year. And as a testament to Jacques he has not quit trying to secure a ride. Even if the team has not been given a slot to race in the 2010 season. Why should that even stop him. Campos (another new team), and USF1 don't even look anywhere ready for Bahrain anyhow. And Bernie Eccelstone has been pushing for Stefan GP to take a grid slot anyways.</p> <p>So the question is should JV return?</p> <p>It's not like he needs the money. After he left F1 he moved back to Montreal Ephman thinks full time. So converting those Euros to Canadian Dollars couldn't have been too bad. Plus he has a cool club, lounge, restaurant there named Newton. And if that wasn't all, he also has a racing school with his name on it. Albeit, he's not a teacher.</p> <p>It's also not like he needs to prove anything. Take a look at his accomplishments. Put aside the fact they happened early in his career, they did happen. Well maybe a real NASCAR run would be cool, but come on we both know NASCAR is so boring, and sucks so bad.</p> <p>Maybe the question shouldn't be should return, maybe it should be can return right? Because the guy is kind of aged for F1, even if Michael Schumacher and Rubens Barrichello are still in Formula One. He has been up in the Swiss Alps (his second home), training like a mad man for the shot. So maybe physically he can do it.<br /> But what about mentally? He's got this killer winning spirit that was so shunted when he split Williams and moved to his own team BAR. They just couldn't put a competitive car on the track. That's been his story all the way since for any team he's raced for. But really is Stefan GP going to be any better? They don't even have a spot on the grid. Eventhough they should probably be there then a team like Campos or USF1.</p> <p>But Ephman's gut is that if you still have the winning spirit, you still have a Super License, and you won't be a menace on the track, why not return? What's the worse that can happen to Formula One with JV returning? His big mouth? But in a way F1 could use a little more spirit. It's whole reputation has been so destroyed the last few years. Remember that little known band from Ireland U2's record The Unforgettable Fire, or Joshua Tree? Well Lanois produced them... Oh also he helped to resurrect Bob Dylan's career with Oh Mercy and helped win a Grammy with Time Out Of Mind.</p> <p>Daniel Lanois' new project dubbed Black Dub played the Bowery Ballroom last night. And it was SO BORING for the first 90 minutes. It was excruciatingly painful. Infact there were moments when all Ephman wanted to was poke his eye out, and rip off his ears. It was really that bad. And this isn't only from Ephman. The audience had people screaming "THIS BLOWS", "where's the band?", "give me my money back", "stop the torture", and it went on and on. OK here's 30 second of the garbage so you get the idea of what was going on. Just want to thank Ephman's new Facebook friend Heather for helping to make it bearable. </p> <p><br /> At around 10pm (not the 8pm on the ticket) Daniel Lanois' Black Dub hit the stage. The band consists of Trixie Whitley, Chris Thomas, Brian Blade, and of course Lanois. But there's a lot of history in this band. And a great band they are... Great surprise because for some weird reason this show was missed by Ephman's radar. He only got tickets the other week.... Crazy it wasn't sold out. Ephman's gain :)</p> <p>Trixie Whitley might be a skinny skinny fair haired girl, but belted out the songs last night like a 300 pound black lady. WOW, what a powerful voice. Oh it's also nice that she's a local NYC girl. Cool. Her dad was Chris Whitley who passed away a few years ago. See Chris was "found" by Daniel. So now it's nice that his daughter is an amazing talent and fit in so well. Ephman is awesomely glad to have seen her. Oh by the way, she plays the drums, and the keyboards, and like Ephman says has a wonderful voice.</p> <p>Chris Thomas is so talented. Ephman was brought up to speed on him by Trix (see the comment below). There's a really great version of Shelter that he plays with Ray Lamontage, you totally need to check it out on Youtube. Also if you want a real treat, Ephman mean a real gem of a treat please search for The Soul of John Black. He plays a nice bass. Even though his back was turned a bit to the audience let Ephman say it was for good reason. The way he and Brian Blades jammed together was great. So glad Ephman was schooled by Trix on this. Thanks!!! </p> <p>And on that note YIPEE YIPEE, Brian Blade was there. Alright this cat is one of today's top jazz drummers. He's also from a part of the world (Louisiana), that makes great jazz drummers. Oh he's also a band leader. Now this guy was able to put a note any place a note could fit, and make it sound like it made sense. Most jazz drummers just wail away. Not Brian. And last night was totally no exception. He put on a clinic the whole night long.</p> <p><br /> </p> <p>The show was basically a ton of new songs for Ephman. Even though he's followed Lanois career since his Parachute Club and Nash The Slash days. Guessing they were a lot of Black Dub songs. Which were great. And glad they didn't turn into Black Dud tunes. The music still has those really simple melodies from him, but at the same time is very complex in the production. And just the way the band played together on stage looked like they've been together for years. A testament to their talent.<br /> <br /> Daniel nicely shared the spotlight with Trixie (who deserved to be on that stage). He did play some of his solo stuff like The Maker (see video below), and that instrumental slide guitar song. So all in all except for the 90 minute torture treatment (thanks for nothing), this was a really great show. Then won the Artist of the Year award from National Academy of Songwriters in 1994. Ok got your attention now? See the dude writes these songs that are real stories with characters, plots, emotion, etc... then he mixes in a pretty mean guitar picking talent he's got. And tops it off with one of the angelic voices in music today. See his voice can't be described like being like anybody else. He's very unique.</p> <p>Martin Sexton had a couple albums on a big time label. Atlantic if Ephman remember correctly. But like all great artists he saw one thing... and they saw another. No more Atlantic. So now Marty (as his fans call him), has his own thing going on. And is coming out with a new record. And if you watch that video of him sitting by his "kitchen table" (also the name of his record company), you'll get just a tiny taste of him. Really. The stage show itself rivals any circus. A few years ago when he saw Pete play at Madison Square Gardens, there was bicycle riding on the spot, massive people balloons, running upside down (what the heck is that?), and just about a million other crazy things. Just watch this video attached ok? you'll get a bit of Ephman's drift.</p> <p>The main thing is that Peter Gabriel puts all his songs to life (if they weren't already). And all his stuff sounds so different. No wonder he left Genesis.</p> <p>The one thing though is believe it or not Ephman's not the biggest fan of Radio City Music Hall. No idea why. And he's been going since he was 10 and saw Stevie Wonder there. Anyways... this Peter Gabriel show should be stellar. Real lucky Ephman was there a couple months ago. Well one things for sure, you won't be flying there on an F-35 right? Big thumbs up to Peter Sauber for getting his car on the track (well soon), and a thumbs down to Mark Cuban who should sometime just be quiet.</p> </div> </div> </div> <p>Welcome to Ephman RSS weekly review. Today is Sunday, February 7 the year is 2010. This is what's gone on in the past week in the RSS world. Currently following 120 feeds across a variety of different topics.</p> <p>The hottest thing this week coming in at 41.2°C is Siri. And Siri is really cool. It <a href="http://www.siri.com/">is an iPhone app that essentially is your own digital personal assistant</a>. And they've got some great partners on this so it really makes for an all encompassing app. You can type in what you want or. just say it. Looking for a romantic restaurant and (nuance if you saw the logo their use one of the leaders in voice dictation software and so Ephman's a big fan of them), it shows you a list of all the different romantic restaurants in your neighborhood. And you can find everything from gas stations to what movies are playing. Just a wide variety of different things. You can even go and make a reservation at any of these restaurants. Here are some of their partners Open Table, Taxi Magic, Weather Bug, allmenus.com, Yelp, Rotten Tomatoes it's so scary it is definitely a cool app. Ephman has downloaded it in and has made his iPhone just a tad less crappy.</p> <p>So let's see what else is happening this past week in the RSS world. Google has released some <a href="http://googlenexusoneboard.blogspot.com/2010/02/new-software-update-for-nexus-one.html">new software for its Nexus</a>. It helps. With Google Maps 3.4 is integrated there and has a night mode for navigation. Very very cool as well as what was really important to Google and Nexis One in particular is 3G connectivity. A lot of people were complaining that their 3G was a little bit too slow for them so they definitely picked that up. As well as they added the Google Goggles application inside of Nexus. So good for Google for so quickly coming to the aid of their users and fixing some serious problems and adding some new features.</p> <p>Monster.com. Big news from the employment site, aside from the fact that <a href="http://www.monster.com/">unemployment is still a major issue</a>. They went off and spent a whole lot of money and bought hotjob.com, out of Yahoo!. Ephman think something like a quarter billion dollars. So Yahoo has unloaded some of their crap and gave it to Monster. So hopefully it will help some people go and find jobs, knock wood. Ephman has his, but if you try out monster maybe you will find yours.</p> <p><a href="http://gigaom.com/2010/02/02/mark-cuban-tells-media-google-is-a-vampire/">Mark Cuban, always in for a good quote</a>. Called Google "a vampire" this past week and he is probably correct. And essentially what it comes down to is Google refuses to stop stealing content for Google News. The fact is Mark Cuban essentially just has to talk about stuff. If you forget about Mark Cuban, he has to say something or do something so that he is remembered. But no more he does it the less viability there is in him. One thing in particular that struck Ephman is the most ridiculous comment was "There is no need to be indexed in Google". Ephman isn't the biggest Google fan, but the reality of the situation is that Google is huge and you need to be indexed in Google. Mark love, you but you get a thumbs down today.</p> <p><a href="http://www.mentalfloss.com/blogs/archives/46765">Huge fan of chili peppers. </a>And if you follow Ephman's blog you will know that he does talk about chili peppers. From time to time. And Ephman loves food hot and you should as well. And so one of the things that is really good is that of course if you'd need a lot of hot peppers and they numb pain. What Ephman does that mean he can eat a ton of hot peppers. And the more he the more numb his mouth gets. It's weird it's kind of a spicy numb. But it works. Another reason it's good for you is they say it helps fight cancer. Essentially what it does is it helps cells die. And because what a tumor sometimes is, is a collection of cells that are supposed to have died, but just go freakzoid instead. And so that's a nice reason to eat your hot peppers. Also if you're eating bad tasting food and throw some chiles on there it can make things taste a little bit better and not to mention the endorphin high you get from chili peppers.</p> <p>Some people might think this is good, some people might think this is bad. Ephman can't quite seem to figure out just yet. But the general that was head of the <a href="http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/business/8492430.stm">F-35 aircraft program has been fired</a>. The good thing is that a general has been fired, and there's one less General on the planet. And the bad news is that the reason he got fired and was because this airplane is so far behind schedule and so much more expensive than what it should be. Now they'll fix the thing all up.</p> <p><a href="http://www.jaunted.com/story/2010/2/1/13575/88517/travel/How+Long+Will+Machu+Picchu+Be+Out+of+Reach+For+Tourists%3F">Machu Picchu, Ephman has been standing right there in the picture.</a> He has been there not too long ago, and maybe about a month ago, in fact actually two months ago. It has definitely been severely hampered. In this is nice to see lots of people helping but here's the river Ephman would walk across this bridge and get to Machu Picchu or the botanical garden. But you can't really walk there is much anymore. Here's a brave soul. That water is really treacherous. There's no road in and no road out, the only way is by train. And the tracks were ripped off. So people have to get out by helicopter. It'll be a few months until people can start coming back.</p> <p>And just want to give <a href="http://www.f1fanatic.co.uk/2010/01/31/bmw-sauber-c29-launched-pictures/">a thumbs-up to BMWSauber for launching their car</a>. Although it uses a Ferrari engine, glad to see that they are still in survival mode and you can thank Peter Sauber for that one. That's pretty insane. But the hospital is the only Catholic one in Manhattan, and they take everybody in to help. A true community hospital. And with today's state of healthcare reform or non-reform, people don't have insurance to pay for costly things. How much do you think a broken arm costs to cast up? Can't be cheap. But you can't let people walk around all day with broken arms right? Well St. Vincent's Hospital helps those broken arm people. The hospital helps poor people. And that's the lesson being learned. Helping poor people doesn't pay.</div> <div style="margin-bottom: 0in;"> </div> <div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">And so this group called Continuum Health Partner, which is a non-profit hospital system wants to take over. The plan they propose is to shut down pretty much EVERYTHING, and turn it into basicall a clinic. A clinic for around 250,000 or so local residents... hhhhmmmm???? Really?</div> <div style="margin-bottom: 0in;"> </div> <div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">Continuum already run Beth Israel, Roosvelt, St. Luke's, and New York Eye & Ear on Manhattan. This group wants to close all acute health services. See one thing Ephman didn't mention was that St. Vincents is also the only Level One Emergency room in downtown NYC. That would be closed. And how can the already over stressed hospitals absorb the 20,000 surgeries that go on at St. Vincent's a year? And where are downtown west side residents going to go for real emergency care? </div> <div style="margin-bottom: 0in;"> </div> <div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">Over the past year or so the hospital has been working with NYC's Landmarks Commission to sell off some land to the Rudin Family. This would have given the hospital TONS of money to rebuild a new and modern facility, and keep the place very competitive. BUT, the local community was outraged at the plans. And morons like Susan Sarandon and husband Tim Robbins made statements about how the hospital no longer serves the community etc.. and that “would not want to bring my children there”. So people listen to things like that and believe that this amazing institution is no longer viable. Sarandon and Robbins are lucky and can afford the finest healtcare in the world... but what about the homeless man who got a bottle cracked on the side of his head by some drunk frat boy? Is Susan and Tom going to pay for stitches for this guy up at Roosevelt? Doubt it. So Susan Sarandon and Tim Robbins should just keep their moronic mouths shut. Ephman's lucky he can afford the finest in healtcare (and prevention), but he sure wants this place to stay open.</div> <div style="margin-bottom: 0in;"> </div> <div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">The hospital's also cut over 300 jobs, scaled back beds and services, etc... But the place is still losing $5 - $8 million a year. It was nice that the other day Gov. David Patterson gave about $6,000,000 but that's just a drop in the bucket.</div> <div style="margin-bottom: 0in;"> </div> <div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">Alright so what can be done to help save St. Vincent's Hospital? First off if you're on<a href="http://www.facebook.com/inbox/?ref=mb#!/pages/Save-St-Vincents-Hospital-Manhattan/270513698246?ref=ts"> Facebook you can join</a> the Save St. Vincent's campaign here. And then you can go over to <a href="http://savestvincents.com/">savestvincents.com/ and print out the sample letters </a>and send them to some of the elected officials that's listed. But really this hospital is going to be saved only if the Board of Directors, elected officials, and it's main lenders TD Commerce and GE Capital can come to an agreement. A realistic one. Those lenders are owed a lot of money and you can't blame them for being pissed off and wanting at least some of their money back. Just imagine how pissed off St. Vincent's going to be when he finds out his hospital is shut down? So let's start by talking about what is hot.</p> <p>Coming in at 41.9°C is Apple's new iPad. <a href="http://mashable.com/2010/01/27/official-ipad-video/">And there is a lot of talk in the RSS world</a>, even beyond what Ephman follows about will this iPad from Apple. And the reality of the situation is it's just a bigger version of his crappy iPhone. Except his iPhone has a camera. That's right the iPad has no camera. Also, it doesn't multi-task. That is just CRAZY. So it's almost like a rock. You'd figure something so big would be able to run two programs at the same time. Even Ephman's old i386 could. Oh did he mention that there is no camera? At the same time Steve Jobs spoke about how great it was for surfing the net. The funny thing is that it doesn't have any flash support. NO Adobe flash support. Is Ephman repeating himself? Or is the hype of this iPad just repeating on him? So it's got kind of sucked actually surfing the net, but you could still come to ephman.com on it. The bezel itself is so big that look it's pretty difficult to type on. Looks like you got to leverage it, and put it up on something for you to really be able to type, and really do stuff with it. you know. It's like Ephman said, it's just the a bigger version of the crappy iPhone. It's Apple iPhone grown up. No interest on getting it. But a lot of people extremely excited, and there has been a lot of talk about the crap.</p> <p>So looks like Google screws Apple on getting <a href="http://www.techcrunch.com/2010/01/26/google-voice-iphones-browser/">Google voice into iPhone.</a> See these RSS reviews, if you follow these videos, you know that it's not always about Google and it's not always about Apple. But this is some interesting information. You know a while back Apple shot Google out of their app store. (aka CRAAP store). Google voice was makes the ability for you to take your email inbox and transcribe into telephone messages. So if someone e-mails you you can get a voicemail message with the email in it, as well as it can also send you an SMS. And you'd be able to handle just one telephone number from your office, your home, your mobile number, in your Google Voice app. What's really cool about Google's super wicked smart folks there is they developed a webpage that you can go to instead of download the app (which no longer exists) <a href="http://m.google.com/voice" title="http://m.google.com/voice">http://m.google.com/voice</a> Essentially is the Google voice app so screw you Apple. Google wins that one.</p> <p>This is a sad story, a very sad and pathetic story. A New York area newspaper <a href="http://www.boingboing.net/2010/01/28/after-3-months-newsd.html">called Newsday spent millions and millions of dollars</a> to revamp their website. $4 million in fact to revamp their website to go from an ad type of revenue model to a subscription-based revenue model. And after a bunch of months only 35 people signed up. This is a pretty bad. So talk about somebody who really dropping the ball there.</p> <p>If you follow this blog Ephman's been <a href="http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/35103003/ns/world_news-haiti_earthquake/">talking a bit about Haiti.</a> He did his job and helped out a little bit and obviously as you know Ephman's blog Ephman.com is all about giving away money. All the money that he makes goes to help fight cancer, but little bit has gone to help the people in Haiti. But here's a little more. Prosthetics are something that they're really going to need in the future really need them right now as well. Lots of limbs are being amputated and if you have an extra leg or an extra arm that you might want to donate (not trying to make a joke), or even some money. You go and buy some of these pieces of technology. Go ahead and do so that. Little children could use the help as well as all the adults that have lost a limb.</p> <p>So let's go on a nicer note.<a href="http://nerdboyfriend.com/?p=4511"> Nerd Boyfriend is cool. </a> What they do is they take a famous photo of somebody. Which is great for Ephman.</div> <div style="margin-bottom: 0in;"> </div> <div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">At this point I bet you're asking “What is this Krav Maga you speak of?” KM for short is a hand to hand combat method taught to every Israeli when they enter the Army. And for the most part, unless your Orthodox Jew, or faking anorexia, you go into the Army.</div> <div style="margin-bottom: 0in;"> </div> <div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">And if you've been living under a rock for most of your life, Israel is in a pretty dangerous neighborhood. So you can only imagine how effective this combat system must be. It can help get you out of any close encounter. If you have a fist or foot coming at you, bhow, you got a reply. A knife, there's something for that too. Even if you have a gun poking the back of the head... Like there's tons of quick and effective moves to get out of that crappy situation.</div> <div style="margin-bottom: 0in;"> </div> <div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">Plato put it right when he said “Necessity is the mother of invention”. This dude Imi Lichenfeld wasn't having the easiest time of things back in Bratislava in 1930's. See back then there were way more ignorant anti-semites. And if you don't know any anti-semites, they don't like Jewish people. Imi went out and with his boxing and wrestling background developed Krav Maga to defend himself. But Ephman doubts it was called Krav Maga back then. When he started teaching the system, it was probably just called survival.</div> <div style="margin-bottom: 0in;"> </div> <div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">KM is really easy to learn and remember. “Why is something so effective so easy to learn and remember?” OK too good to be true you're thinking right? Easy. The system is logical. You move the way your body naturally moves. Bio-mechanics baby, bio-mechanics. So muscle memory really sticks. The whole thing is about getting down to business quickly, and taking care of business quickly. Know what I mean?</div> <div style="margin-bottom: 0in;"> </div> <div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">And on that note. You're not bound up having to do any of that fancy ceremony stuff to waste time with. And no uniforms too. Ok you do need to wear a cup, because you will get kicked in the balls (if you have them) at one point. Actually for Ephman that was the first thing he learned. Ephman sees some people bowing to his teacher Rhon Mizrachi. Anyways, regardless of the bowing thing, everybody in that room respects him. Rhon is probably the best person outside of Israel to learn Krav Maga from.</div> <div style="margin-bottom: 0in;"> </div> <div style="margin-bottom: 0in;">Ephman trains at the <a href="http://www.kravmagainc.com/">Krav Maga Federation</a>. But anyways, the class usually starts off with a CrAzY intense cardio session. 10 minutes of running in one spot, jumping, jumping side to side, pushups, situps... all at the hardest you can go until you almost just want to throw up. Then Rhon will teach demonstrate something. A kick, a punch, something like that. Then we'll practice that move pretending there's somebody there. After we've learned the motion, he'll put into a real world situation. He'll demonstrate how to get out of choke hold, surprise grab, etc... We'll pair off and practice it. He's always walking around telling people what they can do to be better. And listen to him. Once he told Ephman to hit him, and Ephman didn't give it his all, Ephman got hit instead. So lesson learned. Then it's question answer time.
