I just installed Qumana on my Mac - and my life will NEVER be the same again!!! I’ve seriously been living in the dark ages and haven’t even thought about using a blog editor until I stumbled across Blogo(a shareware Mac blog app) today, and yeah - I’m totally impressed now. I haven’t actually been blogging much lately because its such a hassle logging individually into each of my blogs and posting stuff, but with Qumana I can now blog whenever the hell I want!!! Without loading a single goddamn page.

HALLELUJAH!!!!

Of course, it being free and all, there are some major improvements I think would be awesome in the next update(ie. synchronized tags, and a better editor bar…maybe synchronized plugin addons and page support too…but hey. Im just glad I found a new blog editor for mac! No I’m not a salesperson for Qumana…I’m just kinda excited I can update more often now lol. Go me.

For a noob like me, this type of thing takes a while. A long, long long while. Lucky I’m not doing computer programming or anything aye? Anyway, I think I’ve basically figured everything out now(well the code anyway). It took me ages to do it all(I particularly hate formatting lists) but yes - it’s definitely working now ;D I was going through some Wordpress plugins today and came across the live preview comments plugin which I thought was pretty cool, so I’ve added that too. I don’t know, it might be my outdated version of Wordpress, but for some reason the smilies aren’t showing up above the comments section. I’m pretty sure it’s something to do with my awful coding skills, but its one of those things that has been bugging me…

One other thing. Turns out this layout doesn’t completely work in Opera. Talk about annoying!! So far I’ve only tested this in Firefox and Safari, but with Opera, the top pulldown bar doesn’t show up fully. Luckily the navigation bar still shows…but other than that its pretty much hidden somewhere. I really don’t want to see what this looks like in IE…but seriously I HOPE TO GOD it works. If not…I will seriously smash something -_-

I’ve also nearly updated all the pages with the Syntax highlighter plugin, so woohoo. Gotta say, I am really impressed with it(I know, I’m behind with the times…) - I mean it highlights key phrases and everything!!! As you can tell, I am quite easily amused Unfortunately the copy to clipboard thing doesnt seem to be working….(dont think its my fault anyway?? I HOPE!?!?!) so you’ll have to complete the arduous task of ctrl-c and ctrl-ving. I know, the travesty.

Hmm I also don’t know what’s going on with the blockquote and bulleted lists…they don’t seem to be indenting properly. Oh well. Last but not least I’ve added the Sociable plugin so now its easier to bookmark posts/pages. I liked the Share this plugin, but I found it took a while for it to load….so I decided to switch.

So yeah that’s bout it for now. I am going to add more articles and stuff up here soon, but if you want to see anything specific feel free to suggest something by commenting or emailing me.

Well I have a new layout up….I spent ages on it too - just with all the tiny, minor details. I stumbled across the WP Foliage theme a few days ago and was completely inspired to redo this site’s look. I don’t usually take other people’s concepts this blatantly, but I was just soooo impressed with the theme I had to do my own version ;D There’s still a few kinks I need to work out, but it’s 3 am and I have work tomorrow ALL DAY(not to mention I worked all day too ~_~) so I’ll probably get round to it tomorrow.

I wasn’t really aiming for a theme in particular with this…I originally intended to use some cliche notepaper background and some post its and paperclips but then I drew the lightbulb and figured it would look better against a darker background….so I went for a nature slash galaxy look. Hahahah. Oh and how could I forget the customary swirly or two? Gotta love boring webdesign trends lol.

One of the most annoying problems is the fact that on really short pages, the main content div does not stretch to fill the whole page. I’ve already set both the footer and content divs to 100% but it’s still not filling up:((people with larger monitors will see what I mean…if you click on ‘About’ or something). The issue is really really annoying me, and my brain is stuck for ideas on what to do about it. I could set a min-height to the main content div, but then people who are still stuck in the stone age and using 800×600 monitors will have to incessantly scroll and scroll…which I don’t want. Ugh. If anyone has any ideas on how to amend this atrocious feature of the theme, please PLEASE comment(I’ll be forever grateful)!! So yeah, I’m sorry in advance if the issue annoys you too >_> I mean, I could always fill this site up with junk ads right? </sarcasm>

Anyway, hope you guys like the new layout….and I hope it doesn’t look too shonky in other browsers. My Macbook’s screen shows colours VERY weirdly, and for some reason the colours on my screen is just so totally off skew to my PC(which is more to the right colour) that it’s really hard to know what colour looks ok on every computer. So yeah. If you’re a graphic designer do NOT get a macbook to design on…the screen colours suck. But hey, if anyone can give me some advice on how to fix the colour calibration I’m open to suggestions.

Oh yeah, I have other plans for updatation on this site too. First of all….*cough*….I’ll probably have to update a few pages on this site..just so you guys can read the things easier lol…seriously, its been ages since I’ve even logged into the admin place and turns out there’s a Wordpress 2.6 ALREADY. I mean seriously, my Fantasticoo backups already count for half my usage quota from updating so many times!!! (I’m on WP 2.5 atm) Anyway, back on topic, I need to update the look of the main pages.

I also plan on kinda redoing the comment forms…and fixing the bulleted lists so they indent properly…(dunno wth happened there) Oh and I installed the Google Syntax Highlighter plugin(I know, you all must be saying ‘THANK BLOODY GOD’) so I won’t have to use frickin quickcode or whatever else anymore. You know - it’s really hard to find a good plugin for Wordpress that lets you type clean, copy and pastable codes. And I’m so sorry for abusing the blockquote code…..what am I doing running a tutorials site anyway!?!??!? Hehe. It’s ok people. I’m learning here, along with everyone else. Why was I just reminded of High school musical!?!?!?!

Ahem. Oh well. These are my big plans for this site. Let’s hope I actually remember to fulfil them now…

ugh this is like the 1000th edit Ive made to this post xD Anyway I forgot a few things. Firstly, I realize there’s a head-meta thing showing up in every tutorial page - thats because one of the plugins I’m using at the moment is being annoying and I cant find a way round it…argh I guess Ill go see if I can fix it now.
