Saturday May 14 is Opening Day!

Come join us as we kick off the outdoor tennis season. We wish all of our members the best in their summer tennis and thank our dedicated team at Elbow Park for working so tirelessly to ensure the courts are in premier condition for our members. Radu and Katie have done a tremendous job preparing the courts for opening.

As I write this letter, it’s April 1, 2011 and this day we have taken possession of the courts.  However, the weather forecast is for 20 centimetres of wet snow; so taking possession is not the end.

But do not despair.  Radu is getting ready.  Fresh clay has been ordered.  The nets are being dried and ready to be mounted.  The windscreens will be unfolded and dried out and ready to mount.

The Early Bird Special resulted in a 102 member sign up.  This is terrific.  We’re looking forward to a great start.

You may want to check out the new website.  Brett Waldroff and the staff at Glencoe have really done a good job.  The new website is much easier to use and has a lot more information. You will notice too that the new website has Twitter and RSS feed capacity.  Some of us will beg signing up with Twitter so that we can get notices of court closures and court status.  This is an exciting new development for the centre.

We have a new manager this year.  Katie O’Connor will be the Elbow Park Tennis Center Coordinator.  All of the staff will report to her, and she will be responsible for all member services.

Lee Gibson is back with his tennis ladders under the Tennis Engine label.  This was well-received last year, and we’re looking forward to even greater utilization of the tennis ladder.

We will have big-screen televisions installed in the clubhouse.  We will also have a cable connection so that we can watch all of the matches.

In short, it is time to get your summer gear ready and get ready to play some great tennis in the Elbow Park Tennis Center facility.  We hope that you have signed up already.  We look forward to seeing you on the courts.

We are almost ready to begin the 2011 outdoor tennis season!

We have made a few changes that members should be aware of.

Booking :

All Group Lessons, Clinics & Classes will be booked with the EPTC attendant either at the club house or by calling 403-287-2450

All private lessons can still be booked through the individual pros. Thier prices and contact info can be found here

Shoe Tags:

This year we will NOT be mailing shoe tags. Shoe tags must be worn while on the courts.

Please remember to familiarize yourself with the Rules, Dress Code & Etiquette of EPTC!

Box League:

This year we will not be running a tennis ladder. Instead Lee Gibson will be organizing a box league. Keep your eyes peeled for a sign posted at the clubhouse or contact Lee Gibson at 403-808-2620 or leegib@statoil.com for more information.

Tennis Engine

The Tennis Engine is an internet-based ladder system for tennis clubs and organizations or any group of tennis enthusiasts. Any club in the world that has web access can set up a league! Similar to a traditional tennis ladder, the league is ongoing and matches are set up and played by league members at their
convenience.  Access to the internet is required only for the League Administrator (usually a club pro or manager). A password-protected area allows the League Administrator to set up new leagues, edit league stats, add new players, enter matches and distribute league-wide email. Players are not required to have internet access, but those who do will enjoy some great features. Any player can go online to enter match results or get an update on other matches played. Since the rankings are continually updated, players get instant feedback on how the latest matches have affected the rankings! Players may also strategize online over player profiles, stats and match histories.
