Essential Sun-care tips for everyone under the sun

Sunny days on the beach, sand castles and poolside barbeques- we have already begun to dream. As we await the glorious days of Summer ahead of us a few summer necessities come to mind. But none more than Sunscreen. Which for some including myself is an absolute must! Proper Sun Protection Tips

Apply Liberally: The most common mistake made when using sunscreen is not applying enough. This mistake can expose you to 30-50% more sun exposure than desired. Be sure to always apply LIBERALLY to all sun-exposed areas, including the nose, neck, hands, ears, feet and scalp for 100% protection!

Reapply: When applied properly, sunscreen should be reapplied every 2-4 hours spent in the sun.

Absorb: Allow your initial sunscreen application to absorb into the skin for 20-30 minutes before heading outdoors.

We've gathered an array of refreshing, joy inducing tips and ideas to make your Spring a delightful one, without a second to waste- starting with what else? your skin!

Create a Relaxing Home Spa- Follow these easy organic recipes for refreshing homemade facials. Complete the tranquil atmosphere with crisp spa, a sunday afternoon and good friends.

Cucumber, Egg White and Mint Mask- Refresh & Hydrate
A natural skin hydrator for normal to oily skin

1 Cucumber(seeded. peeled and chopped)
4-5 fresh mint leaves
1 egg white

Preparation:

Put the cucumber and fresh mint in a food processor.

In a small bowl whisk the egg white until firm.

Slowly combine egg whites to cucumber and mint mixture

Apply on clean face and neck
Leave on for 20 minutes
Remove with alternately cold and warm water
Pat dry

Classic Organic Honey and Oat Mask- Refresh & Exfoliate
Great for oily/ stressed skin

1/4 cup of fine-ground oatmeal
1/4 cup of water
2 teaspoons of organic honey

Preparation:

Combine and apply

Let sit for 15 minutes
Remove with warm wash cloth

Banana and Honey Mask- Refresh & Clean
A perfect fix for clogged pores

1 Banana, preferably ripe
1 tbsp Organic Honey
Orange or Lemon Juice

Preparation:

Combine Honey and Banana

Add a few drops of Lemon or Orange juice

Apply, and let sit for at least 15 minutes
Remove with cool water and wash cloth

For over 14 years Erbaviva has partnered with the non-profit group Sop Moei Arts and the Pwo Karen hill tribe to produce our hand-woven baskets and canvas packaging. We are so in awe of the amazing work this group does in partnering businesses throughout the world with the skilled men and women from the Sop Moei district of Mae Hong Son Province in Thailand.

With the income from their partnership with Erbaviva, the Pwo, who live in remote villages away from sources of income, are able to maintain a children’s clinic, build a scholarship fund, and provide for their families. In the past, they would have had to rely on slash and burn farming or leave their native villages to seek life in city, but now they can build and maintain permanent sustainable farms.
