The results are in (such as they are) and it really and truly does seem that we're stuck with that ugly link in the feed because someone at Blogger Central decided to eliminate the "link" option in the post title. Unbelievable.

Other than that, the interface seems nice. So while this doesn't quite rise to the level of, "Other than that, Mrs. Lincoln, how was the play?"... it's still pretty annoying. (And judging by the Googling I've done, I'm not the only podcaster who's disappointed in the change.)

This week's episode is some rambling about the challenge of doing video and, in particular, the challenge of making the audio in a quick-and-dirty YouTube video any better than garbage. Does anyone have suggestions for that (or, conversely, are there any alternative sites that handle audio-editing in video clips better than YouTube does)?

Sorry for the extremely ugly "click here!" link above; Blogger involuntarily upgraded me to the new and "improved" interface, which is great, except that I can't find any way to make a post title be the link that I want it to be. For the past 7 years that title would link straight to the MP3 of the Ericast episode, but we've entered a new era of the podcast: One where you have extra clicks in nonsensical places just so you can listen to what you want to listen to. ARGH!!! And it's not just a cosmetic thing; Feedburner needs that link right up front so it's pretty dangerous to not have it there somewhere...

(Did I ever mention that I hate change when it's imposed on me? Change on my own terms is cool. Change driven by someone else at inopportune times is really annoying...)

My plea on Twitter has so-far gone unanswered but we'll blog about it more here if anyone responds.

In the meantime... you'll adjust. You'll probably adjust better than I will.

This week's episode touches on Evernote again (and thanks to Digital Dan for the "Evernote for Moms" link!) but, more importantly, it addresses the age-old "Ginger vs. Mary Anne" question in what I term "attraction analytics" in a blog post I wrote a few days back.

Ericast 186 - Evernote Black Hole

I want to like Evernote. I really do. I hear good things about it. Same with Pinterest. But, for the life of me, I don't "get it" -- not for either one, which means I have issues hangin' out with all the hip and cool kids because they "get it" and I don't.

Can someone explain exactly how Evernote is supposed to revolutionize my life? Maybe point me to a blog post or video or something that could act as a brain-dump and bring me up to speed?

I also roll in some Dweeb Thoughts podcast clips on the topic of cheap technology (like MP3 players and ebook readers) and lecture capture. Fun stuff!

I'm so excited to have apparently cornered the British shopping directory market... or, at least, the portion of British shopping directories that include voucher codes (which, when you consider your shopping directory needs, are probably important for the British).

I can just imagine Emma's lilting accent reciting poetic statements like, "I was looking for same kind of information what your website have."

"What your website have" -- how creative! How magical. No need for those "t-words" like "the" or "that" if you have Emma's grace and personality. "I kinda like it too," Emma. I look forward to your next visit; indeed, my good work will continue to be kept up!

Don't worry -- I'm not going to freak out and break off all my friendships and dump my Twitter and Facebook accounts and podcast from a library or a mountaintop somewhere... but it's an interesting thought, isn't it?

This week's podcast ponders the question of "TMI" in the social-media world -- is it possible to have too much information flooding at you? Is this any different from the wad of dead-tree information that was once dropped on the doorsteps of homes across the country? (Short answer: Yes, it's different, because it comes directly from people you know, hence there's a relationship, hence there's a need -- or at least the feeling of a need -- to engage in that information more closely.)

How do you handle/maintain your relationships (in various communities or "networks")? That's a question regarding a) any practical tools/advice/methods you know of, and b) the mental/emotional "bandwidth" required to keep track of everyone and everything they're up to.
