Happy Birthday Cayman! Thanks for throwing the best Cinco de Mayo birthday party ever. We are all wondering if you still have any alligator cake left for us?

The sweetest race you’ll ever run: Grace Academy’s 2nd annual Sticky Bun Run. Run four miles, woof down four Sticky Buns somewhere in the middle, and try to finish with a smile. Major props to all the runners, especially the young ones, who did it in style. Thanks to all the volunteers who made this fund raiser possible, especially Wade and Jen Grimes!

It’s perfect spring weather in the High Country. I had a blast capturing Michael and Allison in Blowing Rock as they remembered their recent engagement at the Gideon Ridge Inn. Beautiful!

Introducing the Blue Jays. You should be seeing these guys make their Major League debut around 2032.  If you are ever feeling down about life, go find a t-ball game and soak up the goodness. They may have no idea how to hit the ball or where to run once they do hit it, but it sure is fun to watch the action unfold. This game was just getting started when lightning came and had us running for the cars. Look for a more extensive gallery coming in the future. Haines wants to give out a special shout out to his teammates Elliot and Will.

Every spring some of my cousins get together for a weekend of camping and outdoor adventure. This year we chose the New River Gorge in Fayetteville, WV. Spanning the gorge almost 900ft over the New River, the bridge is a worthy attraction in it’s own right. Once a year, the bridge is legally open to BASE jumping.  Since we all forgot to bring our parachutes, we contented ourselves with a bit of rock climbing and rappelling between the rain showers. If you’re looking for a great campground, check out Chestnut Creek Campground and tell Brian hello for us. Just make sure to put out your fire. It better be cold.

My parents met in Wilmore, KY. My dad was in seminary and my mom was a student across the street at Asbury University. It served as a perfect location to gather again and celebrate a resurrection together.

Over Easter weekend we took in the classic Lexington experience: opening day at Keeneland.  Blazers, bow ties, and skimpy sundresses were in full effect, thanks in part to free passes for UK students. The real show was the raw beauty and power of the world’s finest thoroughbreds thundering around the track.

This morning’s early light was beautiful, but fleeting. By the time I made it out the door with my coffee and camera, I missed the light show. No matter. Sloshing around the boggy fields in flip flops while watching the morning birds was sublime. Location: Goodnight Farm, Valle Crucis
