I had a bunch of TIFF files from the pirate wedding get corrupted when backing up to my hard drives. Luckily the RAWs were all fine and it was just a matter of re-toning them. I pulled a couple I thought looked interesting; no manipulation was done on my part.

My girlfriends father got remarried last month in a pirate themed fashion. The ceremony was supposed to take place here on the banks of Lake Erie, but the weather forced the ceremony to move indoors. It's unfortunate, but here are a few shots of the rehearsal, the day prior. The last image is at the house where the rehearsal dinner was held; a really nice place right on the lake.

This character is only for this noodle and is one of the most complicated in contemporary use. I had to use an image to represent it because there is no Unicode value for the character, i.e. it can't be typed on normal computers. Biang Biang Mian (A not so good version) Xiexier Mian (斜斜儿面) Liang pi (凉皮) ≈ (rice noodle base) Liang pi (凉皮) ≈ Kudai Mian (裤带面) Jiu Pian (揪片)

This is a good number of the noodles I tried while in China, but not all of them. Shanxi (山西) is famous for there noodles, and there is supposedly upwards of 100 different kinds, though several of these originated in Shaanxi province (陕西省) as well as elsewhere. Hopefully this fills some of the gaps in the internet for others trying to track down the varieties of chinese noodles.

One of my favorite places in Athens, Ohio is Jackie O's Pub and Brewery. Good local food and even better beer. Here's a picture of my step dog sunny cleaning out one of our pint glasses. Unfortunately it was only the remnants of a smoothie and not one of Jackie O's beers, although last time we were in Athens we brought back a growler full of Sparbock.

I went to ohio last month for an annual pig roast put on by my girlfriend's dad. They order a whole roasted pig, and a bunch of their friends and old neighbors bring all kinds of other delicious food. And apparently all the men in the group are supposed to wear hawaiian shirts for some reason, and I found that this didn't exclude me when a nice large button-up covered in palm trees was tossed my way.

One of my last pictures in Linfen as I waved goodbye out the train window. I must admit I got a little choked up; I had grown attached to the dirty little city and the friends I had made there. The people are warm and the life is more relaxed, not to mention the food I've grown fond of and the Chinese I speak has been forever influence by this place. My friends would often joke how I'm a Shanxi native, and I'm ok with that.
