Lighting workshop!!

Bookings are now officially open for my lighting workshop. This workshop will focus on using studio quality flash equipment out in the “field”. Focusing primarily on battery packs that are portable but also very powerful. I will also divulge a trade secret, how to shoot with studio flash equipment and have a sync speed of up to 1/8000th of a second! Which will allow you to shoot at f2.8 or bigger.

Workshop outline for the 16th of February 2012:

Portable battery pack flash equipment – Profoto Acute B 600R
Bare bulb, umbrella, beauty dish and softbox use
You will need your own camera gear
Lunch, drinks, coffee, water and other snacks will be provided throughout the day
Pocketwizard FlexTT 5 units, limited number will be on hand for use
Being able to shoot anytime of the day
Working quickly with light powerful gear
Getting low depth of field shots in studio for beautiful portraits
Providing a better quality product to your clients
Broadening your skill set

Space is limited so jump quickly to secure your place! We will be hosted by the amazingly gorgeous Molenvliet venue in Stellenbosch. Lighting gear sponsored with the compliments of Profoto SA.

Date: 16 February 2012, Arrival at 9h30 to start at 10h00, finishing off around 19h00

Cost of the course is R2800.00

It was a glorious day in Elgin at South Hill wine estate. People came to celebrate a wedding, they came they saw and they partied! Ooi!

Windy? That is a bit of an understatement, the wind was gusting at around 200mph! But we endured and we braved the mighty winds that the Cape is famous for and we conquered! It was fun shooting and meeting you guys, enjoy South Africa!

A Jewish wedding isn’t really a wedding, it’s more of a celebration with loads of fun and awesome dancing! I just could not wait to get some pics out onto my blog, hope you enjoy. (These are more of an off-beat look at it) I was the second photographer on this wedding, main photographer was my brother, will link to his post once he has it up and going.

Yes I know, this might be Bono from his earlier years.

This photo above is what I deem to be a bum-shot. the angle and way my camera dangles from my shoulder sometimes results in a bum-shot (the vertical shutter gets released accidentally by my bum) sometimes with an interesting effect..

I decided that I will try again this year. Every time it is so difficult for me to make a selection of 10 images to enter this competition. I went thru thousands of photos to get to 10 and I’m still not entirely sure that I made the right choice, with photography it’s or any other art, beauty is in the eye of the beholder. You will end up with a mix of what you like and what think the judges will like, it’s always like that.

First up are my 10 entries, followed by the ones who nearly made it. It was very very difficult to make and it took me hours of just staring at my screen and doing a bit of eeny meeny miny moe, some help from people on my facebook page and my girl Liezl.

This is just phenomenal! It’s a known fact that explosives only destroy but this artist has managed to create via destruction, a very unique point of view that stirrs the deep burrows of your mind, beautifully captured in slow mo and set against a wicked soundtrack. (via thisiscolossal.com)

My derde troue by Knorhoek, Towerbosch en elke keer verander die plek en dis altyd vrek warm daar! Ek moes ongelukkig hond siek die troue aanpak, sinus het my getref die vorige dag en op hulle trou dag was my stem amper weg, eintlik eers teen 9pm was my stem weg en dit was so n ongelooflike mooi warm dag gewees en die aand nog meer fantasties mooi, hier is n paar fotos van die dag. Ek ken die twee nou al amper 3 jaar en het al saam gaan kamp, hulle is so oulik en gemaklik met mekaar. Karel ken ek via Kenjutsu, ja ons albei speel met samurai swaarde, onglukkig was syne net missing op die dag.. Giz en Karel ek wens julle net die best vorentoe!! BAIE GELUK JULLE!!
