He promotes well-being in children through song, puppetry, and broadcast video. Also inspiring is his 1997 acceptance speech for the Lifetime Achievement Award at the 24th Annual Daytime Emmy Awards.
An excerpt from Bounce Back: How to Become a More Resilient Designer

“Resilient people accept that they will sometimes fail, and that those setbacks are transient. They understand that not all failure is personal, and that even the most personal of failures will have benefits. Instead of dwelling on mistakes and should-have-dones, they view failures as opportunities to learn and grow. This mentality helps them take a few hits and come back stronger.”

Facing your fears

Blog

Field Notes

One of my big fears is interviewing people. How long do you allow for silence?

About 2 weeks ago I was heading to the final session of our user-research interviews; we’d been conducting them all week in order to better understand the users’ needs on Twitter. I’d been quiet during the research interviews earlier that week, afraid to ask the wrong thing the wrong way. My two coworkers were seemingly flawless in comparison.

That Friday I was able to pose some questions without worrying that they be perfectly timed, perfectly crafted, or perfectly understood. I’ve been reminding myself that I do not need to be perfect at everything I do, though I may want it. Perfection (if there is such a thing) comes with experience that can’t be gained through silence or inaction. In the end everything was fine. No one laughed, scoffed, or scolded. It was all in my head.

Most importantly, remember that approval starts with yourself.

Ira Glass on Storytelling

Videos

inspiration

“This American Life host and producer Ira Glass is among our era’s most beloved storytellers. class="intro">Redefining the online experience for a high-end sports company

Mizuno approached Modea with a dated online presence, and asked us to create a better experience for their customers. The agency put a team together that completely overhauled the site’s content, architecture, look, and feel. I was brought on as one of three designers to help redefine that look and feel. I composited stunning backdrops and product carousels, and designed styles for multiple internal pages.

Mizuno’s sports span across Golf, Running, Volleyball, Soft-Pitch & Slow-Pitch. Each sport has a unique background to match their target audience, but maintains a consistent layout for a seamless user experience across the board. Each background was meticulously hand-blended to at the edges to look gorgeous on monitors up to 30 inches. All featured product carousels were designed to fit the mood and tone of the site’s background, making the overall look even more stunning.

Process blog posts:

<a
