This download is a dubstep version of the classic War Of The Worlds story. The mix was put together by erwtenpeller and can be streamed from soundcloud. I'm not a massive fan of dubstep but this is such a classic I thought I may as well post it up here for those people who missed it when it did the internet rounds. Here's a collection of rap & hip hop tunes presented by DJ Muggs from Cypress Hill. There's a good cross section of artists that includes some of the early pioneers of rap like KRS-One from Boogie Down Productions and also artists from the second wave of rap like Dr. Dre & Cypress Hill. This was originally released in 1997 and most of the tracks have a G-Funk / Gangsta feel to them so if

This download is a selection of heavy rock from between 1968 & 1979. It was put together by The Loftmonkey in one of his more ‘rock’ moments and he's even included some notes & comments on each of the songs. There's some real classics on here as well as some lesser known songs so time to grow yourself a beard, get the denim on, stick your thumbs in your belt loops and start to

Here's a best of collection from Brazilian rock gods, Sepultura. I hadn't listened to them for ages and then stuck this on and man, it's fucking great. The band was formed in 1994 and while basically being a metal band they're not just a straight-up metal band like Slayer (not that there's anything wrong with Slayer ;). The name is Portuguese for grave apparently... and how metal is that. Anyway

Here & Now are an English space rock band formed in early 1974. They have close connections with the band Gong and in 1977/1978 worked with Gong's Daevid Allen and Gilli Smyth under the name Planet Gong. The lineup changes at the end of the 70s caused a slight shift in the bands approach to their songs, moving from their more improvisational style to a more structured approach. This show was

Here's the first album from The Offenders (the second is listed below). Hailing from Austin, Texas they are one of the most under appreciated hardcore bands from the early 80s. Mikey (R.I.P.) went on to play bass on the first MDC album and after that, Sister Double Happiness. If you're a fan of 80s US hardcore then this is a must have :) There is a full discography for The Offenders on the superb

I had a dream about Hawkwind the other night (nothing sexual you'll be glad to hear) so I decided to put together a new collection/mix of space rock. Most of the tracks are fairly recent but there's some older stuff as well (Monkey 3, Porcupine Tree). Most of the songs aren't straight up space rock but they have more of a stoner'ish feel, think bands like 35007. It's all pretty cosmic though so I

There's no download link this week but I will be playing a live drum & bass set tonight on drumstepuk.com. I'm not entirely sure what time I will be playing but it'll probably be around 7.00 and I reckon I'll be doing 2 hours. There will be a reggae set beforehand starting at 6pm from DJ Switch (a good friend of mine) and I will be followed by Hoolio who will be playing drum & bass and dubstep

Here's a selection of reggae and dub music that should provide a nice soundtrack to your next sesh. I've included a few of the songs that have been sampled in various drum & bass / jungle tunes so you should recognise a few of them. A lot of these were originally released on Trojan Records but I've also thrown in a few others for your delectation. DOWNLOAD THE GANJA REGGAE SELECTION

Christmas greetings to you all :) and in the spirit of the season here's the wonderful Christmas single from that jolly bunch of lads (& ladies) Crass. I absolutely love this album so I'm gonna re-up it for you. I remember liking it as a kid and then when I was about eighteen some friends and I were at a jumble sale and there it was. It even had the original comic book with it (scans included with the download). Obviously my mate's took the piss out of me for getting so excited but after we dropped some acid and then listened to it they were

This groovy little selection of funk was put together by Solid Jackson, a good friend of mine. As well as including some tracks from a few of the usual suspects like James Brown and Funkadelic Mr Jackson also made sure there are a number of songs from some of the lesser known artists. So if you want to listen to some funky grooves then this download is for you. Enjoy. DOWNLOAD SOLID JACKSONS

It's still from a 25 year old tape though :) LATEST UPDATE: The Old Punk has given me some good news about this. Someone by the name of Paco has released a vinyl pressing of this classic. It's only £6 plus a bit for postage. It comes with a poster and a copy of the original booklet too. Get it here - La

Here is a re-post of the Bad News and Plastic Culture EPs by Hit Parade. The downloads are in FLAC or 320kbps mp3 format so just grab whichever one you want. Hit Parade was Dave Hyndman from Belfast, with occassional assistance by members of Crass on backing vocals but mostly it was Dave. The Bad News EP was released in 1983 on Crass Records and rather than guitars, bass and drums it uses drum

Here's a download from one of my favourite artists of all time. Steve Hillage (born Stephen Simpson Hillage, 2 August 1951, London, England) is an English musician, best known as a guitarist. He is associated with the Canterbury scene and has worked in experimental domains since the late 1960s. Besides his solo recordings he has been a member of Gong, Khan and System 7. This is an anarcho punk mix I did recently. It only goes on for 45 minutes & as well as lots of the old classics there is some not really anarcho stuff as well. I decided to do this 'cos of a photo that made me laugh I saw over at the oldpunksneverdie.com site. I've also added 3 ebooks to the download (mobi & html/txt formats). This download is the In Toytown album by The Cravats that was released on Small Wonder Records in 1980. Here's another compilation for your listening pleasure. This one's a selection of various different grindcore bands though there's also a bit of crust mixed in as well. I was looking through some old mixes the other day and I came across this little gem. It's a jungle / drum & bass mix from 2009 but unfortunately I can't remember where I got it from. The cover says it's presented by the Serial Killaz and mixed by DJ Tera but whoever is responsible it's an excellent mix. It goes on for 70 minutes and is all in one big file. This is much like the mixes I do (
