Release Highlights:

Educational Services of America (ESA)
is the winner of the 2012 Citrix Innovation Award, an international
award recognizing visionary organizations that use Citrix technology
solutions to drive innovation and simplify information technology.

Using Citrix technology solutions, ESA students with special needs
are provided specialized instruction and at-risk students get the
support they need to succeed in school, reducing the likelihood they
    will drop out.

ESA, one of three finalists, was the only finalist headquartered in North America. The award was presented Wednesday, May 9, at Synergy San Francisco, Citrix's premier event on cloud computing, virtualization and networking.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (May 10, 2012) ― Educational Services of America (ESA)
is the winner of the 2012 Citrix Innovation Award, which recognizes
companies using Citrix technology solutions to simplify information
technology, improve organizational agility and transform the way they do
business.

ESA,
the nation's leading provider of K-12 alternative and special education
schools and programs for students at risk of dropping out and for
students with special needs, uses Citrix private cloud technology to
help educate more than 12,000 students nationwide each year. ESA uses
its Citrix solution to deliver tutoring and other educational support to
students on demand and at their convenience, wherever their learning
sessions can become an integrated part of their day.

"ESA's
Information Technology and Curriculum teams led the partnership with
Citrix and the collaboration with our teachers, directors and leadership
to transform the ways we reach students," Mark Claypool,
ESA president and CEO, said. "As a result of this collaboration, we can
scale up quickly and efficiently to reach students wherever they are,
any time, on any device, and students can easily access educational
resources on their terms and timeline, greatly improving their academic
performance and enriching their lives."

The award was presented Wednesday, May 9, at Synergy San Francisco,
Citrix's premier event on cloud computing, virtualization and
networking. Citrix solicited nominations of innovative customers from
its partners and regional sales teams around the world and narrowed them
down to three finalists. ESA was the only finalist headquartered in North America.

Citrix XenDesktop
allows ESA to reach students wherever they are, any time, on any
device, from a school-based PC to a learning center thin client or the
student's own Mac or iPad, freeing students from a desktop computer at a
learning center or school.

With Citrix NetScaler, Repeater and Branch Repeater,
students are engaged by rich, often graphically intense multimedia
content tailored to their individual learning needs and style—with a
high-performance experience—even over uncontrolled wide area networks
(WANs). Citrix allows ESA to deploy desktop-based applications alongside
web-based applications in one environment, resulting in maximum
flexibility in the programming choices available for students.

"Congratulations to Educational Services of America for winning the 2012 Citrix Customer Innovation Award," said Kim DeCarlis,
Vice President of Corporate Marketing, Citrix.

"All of our finalists
told amazing stories of how technology can drive business innovation and
how it can ultimately do more than just change the way people work, but
change the way people live. ESA has a unique and touching story of how
technology is truly making a difference in the lives of kids who need
specialized and personalized ways of learning in order to succeed in
life. It's great to see ESA use Citrix technology to provide
educational opportunities to students that otherwise might be left
behind. We are proud to recognize their accomplishments and look forward
to witnessing what they achieve with their students in the future."

About ESA

ESA's
mission is to provide personalized, evidence-based educational services
for non-traditional learners in collaboration with families and public
school districts. To fulfill this mission, ESA operates two strategic
service divisions: Ombudsman Educational Services,
which partners with public school districts to provide alternative
education to non-traditional learners and students who are at risk of
dropping out of school, and Spectrum Center Schools and Programs,
which partners with public schools to provide individualized services
for students with challenging educational and behavioral needs such as
autism, emotional disturbance and developmental delay. ESA partners with
240 public school districts in 22 states and the District of Columbia to serve 12,000 students each year in more than 170 schools and programs.
Long-Time Nashville Educator Ralph M. Thompson Joins Educational Services of America

Nashville, Tenn. (Nov. 21, 2011) -- Educational Services of
America (ESA) has appointed long-time educator Ralph M. Thompson as a
business development vice president for ESA’s Ombudsman Educational
Services division, which partners with more than 160 public school
districts in 20 states to provide alternative education programs for
dropout prevention and credit recovery.

A
veteran teacher and administrator, Thompson held a variety of

78,000 students enrolled during 2010-11. He served as a middle school
assistant principal, an elementary and middle school principal and a

director of middle schools for MNPS and he was named administrative
director for schools with students in grades nine-12 in 2004. He served
as MNPS assistant superintendent of student services until he retired in
June. Thompson will work primarily with large, urban districts
throughout the country.

“Because of

districts and their students,” Mark Claypool, ESA president and CEO,
said. “Ralph is a dedicated educator who can help large, urban districts
reduce their dropout rates and increase their graduation rates.”

Thompson
is a graduate of Tennessee State University (TSU) and is listed on the
TSU College of Education Wall of Fame in recognition of his

Release
Highlights:

Educational Services of America
(ESA) has established a federally registered Institutional Review Board
(IRB) to review proposed research studies involving ESA schools and
    programs.

ESA’s Research and
Analytics Department will explore a variety of topics, including those
related to student achievement, post-secondary goals and public school
district partner satisfaction with ESA programs.

The IRB will help ensure ethical
treatment of all students, teachers, parents and public school district
    partners involved in the research.

For
Immediate Release

Nashville, Tenn. (Monday, Nov. 21) – Educational Services of America (ESA)
has established a federally registered Institutional Review Board (IRB) to
review proposed research studies involving ESA schools and programs. ESA’s
Research and Analytics Department will explore a variety of topics, including
those related to student achievement, post-secondary goals and public school
district partner satisfaction with ESA programs.

The
rigorous IRB review process for research projects conducted in association with
ESA and its two strategic service divisions, Ombudsman
Educational Services and Spectrum CenterSchools and Programs, helps ensure all research is conducted in a manner that protects students,
teachers, parents and public school district partners.

“Research is increasingly important to ESA’s mission to educate
non-traditional learners,” Mark Claypool, ESA president and CEO, said. “The
information and insight we gain through evaluation of the effectiveness
of ESA programs helps ensure all students receive the educational and
behavioral tools to learn, graduate and create better lives for themselves,
their families and their communities.”

Members of the ESA executive and leadership teams who serve on the
Institutional Review Board include:

John McLaughlin, Ph.D.,
Executive Vice President and Director of Research and Analytics

Shirley Hanback,
Executive Vice President for Human Resources

Don Whitfield,
Executive Vice President and Chief Accounting Officer

Allison O’Neill, Chief
    Operating Officer, Ombudsman Educational Services

Gail Henderson, Chief
Operating Officer, Spectrum Center Schools and Programs

Eva Gut, Ph.D.,
    Research Associate

Lisa Britton, Ph.D.,
BCBA (Board Certified Behavioral Analyst), Vice President of Clinical
Services and Integrity Assurance, Spectrum Center Schools and Programs

Lauren Lunsford, Ph.D., an associate professor of literacy at Belmont
University in Nashville, serves as the external member of the IRB, which is
chaired by McLaughlin.

We are committed to sharing our best practices with other organizations
and individuals who work with young people,” McLaughlin said. “Establishing the
Institutional Review Board ensures we do this in a manner that safeguards the
health, privacy and integrity of our students.”

Institutional Review Board registration is obtained through the Office for Human Research Protections
(OHRP) within the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS). OHRP provides
leadership in the protection of the rights, welfare, and well-being of research
participants by offering guidance, developing educational programs and
materials, maintaining regulatory oversight, and providing advice on ethical
and regulatory issues in biomedical and social-behavioral research.

About ESA

ESA’s
mission is to provide personalized, evidence-based educational services for
non-traditional learners in collaboration with families and public school districts.
To fulfill this mission, ESA operates
two strategic service divisions:
Ombudsman Educational Services, which partners with public school districts to
provide alternative education to non-traditional learners and students who are
at risk of dropping out of school, and Spectrum Center Schools and Programs,
which partners with
public schools to provide individualized services for students with challenging
educational and behavioral needs such as autism, emotional disturbance and
developmental delay. ESA partners with 260 public school districts in 22 states
and the District of Columbia to serve 12,000 students each year in more than 170
schools and programs. two organizations are creating an alternative, “blended” school called
Fusion Academy of Michigan that will combine online learning with
face-to-face instruction. Contract terms were not disclosed. Fusion
will open this fall with space for 300 students at two learning centers
in the Detroit metropolitan area, one in the Conner Creek neighborhood
and another near Grandmont-Rosedale.

Because
many students need a flexible schedule due to work or family
responsibilities, Fusion Academy of Michigan will offer three daily
school sessions at each of its Detroit locations. Each
session will be four and one-half hours long, supplemented by additional
remote coursework. Students who are under the age of 20 as of August 31
and are identified in the Michigan Student Data System as having
withdrawn from school before completing 12th grade are eligible to attend. Tuition is free.

The
Fusion Academy of Michigan combines Connections Education’s curriculum
and technology with Ombudsman’s face-to-face instruction for students
who would benefit from a more structured environment or may not have
Internet access at home. This blended learning model offers an online
curriculum aligned to state standards, and personal support and small
group instruction led by highly qualified, certified Michigan teachers.

Connections Education and Ombudsman are accredited by AdvancEd,
the international organization that accredits public and private
schools. Connections Education’s Connections Academy public school
division was recently awarded with the United States Distance Learning
Association’s 21st Century Award for Best Practices in Distance Learning for preK-12 programs.

“Students
living in the Detroit area who have left school have a new option to
earn their high school diploma through our accredited program,” said
Steven Guttentag, Chief Education Officer of Connections Education and
President of Connections Learning. “We are proud to partner with
Ombudsman, a leader in center-based alternative education, to offer our
proven online courses together with Ombudsman’s high-quality, in-person
instruction.”

“This program
will give students who have dropped out of school an alternate route to
a high school diploma,” said Mark Claypool, Ombudsman president and
CEO. “Fusion Academy of Michigan’s blended learning model offers young
people who have dropped out of school the ability to re-enroll, earn
their high school diploma and transition to a path toward their
post-secondary academic and career goals.”

At
Fusion, students who need to repeat a course can recover credits more
quickly or be on an accelerated path to graduation because the program
is mastery-based, meaning students can advance as they demonstrate
proficiency in the subject.

To learn more about Fusion Academy of Michigan, visit www.connectionsacademy.com/michigan or call (800) 382-6010.

About Connections Education

Connections

Educational Services partners with more than 120 school districts in
nearly 20 states to provide alternative programs for students who have
dropped out of school and nontraditional learners who prefer a smaller
class size and personalized instruction, require a flexible schedule to
meet family or work commitments, or wish to recover credits to graduate.
Nationally, 85 percent of Ombudsman students graduate, earn credits or
return to their district school closer to or at grade level. Ombudsman
has educated more than 132,000 students since its founding in 1975. For

technology-rich environment that allows students to receive immediate
feedback and become familiar with tools they will use in college, trade
    or vocational school or the workplace;

Service learning and
volunteer projects that will help students explore careers, develop the
    skills required to secure a job and give back to their community;

Teacher-led learning activities and small group instruction to help students apply knowledge and enhance their social skills;

Focused, dedicated preparation for the state's end-of-course tests; and

Greater accountability and improved academic results.

Parents who are interested in having their children attend Ombudsman can
contact Assistant Superintendent Mark Meyer at (719) 587-1601 for
further information and to determine eligibility.

"Alamosa School
District is committed to offering the highest quality of education to
all of our students by providing them with a learning environment and
culture that empowers them to reach their greatest potentials," said
Assistant Superintendent Mark Meyer. "Ombudsman will help our
nontraditional students graduate, improve the district's graduation rate
and support our mission to maintain a culture of educational excellence
that promotes exemplary academic success."

Ombudsman's rigorous
academic program is aligned with Colorado standards and is accredited
by the North Central Association Commission on Accreditation and School
Improvement (NCA CASI), the organization that accredits Colorado
schools.

Ombudsman students make significant academic gains. Data from the
2009-2010 school year shows that during an average enrollment of 91
days, Ombudsman students nationwide advanced 1.5 grade levels in math
application, 1.2 grade levels in language mechanics, 1.2 grade levels in
spelling, one grade level in vocabulary, one grade level in math
computation and nearly one grade level in reading comprehension.

"Ombudsman
partners with school districts to provide students an alternate route
to a high school diploma," said Mark Claypool, Ombudsman president and
CEO. "Students receive one-on-one instruction from caring teachers who
guide and encourage them to make positive choices about their education.
Ombudsman helps students recognize their ability to learn and celebrate
their successes so they can achieve their academic and career goals."

Nationally,
85 percent of Ombudsman students graduate, earn credits or return to
their district school closer to or at grade level. Ombudsman has served
more than 132,000 students since its founding in 1975 and partners with
more than 120 school districts in nearly 20 states. For more

Mark Claypool, President and CEO of Educational Services of America, to Speak at "Building a Grad Nation Summit"

For Immediate Release

Nashville, Tenn. (March 18, 2011) – Mark Claypool, president and CEO of Educational Services of America (ESA), is a member of a panel discussing options for helping students graduate from high school at the first Building a Grad Nation Summit, March 21-23 in Washington, D.C.

The summit is co-hosted by America’s Promise Alliance, the Alliance for Excellent Education, Civic Enterprises, and the Everyone Graduates Center at Johns Hopkins University,
four organizations that have joined hands to inspire a national
movement to reach a 90 percent national graduation rate by 2020. The
three-day event is designed to bring together teachers, school
administrators, community advocates, business leaders, policymakers,
local government officials, nonprofit, education experts and many more
leaders from the public and private sector in a dialogue on dropout
prevention efforts.

ESA is the nation’s leading provider of K-12
alternative and special education schools and programs for students who
are at risk of dropping out and for students with special needs.
Claypool will present during the “Alternative Pathways and Dropout
Recovery” session, and will discuss how Ombudsman Educational Services,
a division of ESA, is helping public school districts provide
alternative programs for dropout prevention and credit recovery.
Ombudsman has proven that students make significant academic gains when
provided with a customized academic plan created to meet their
individual needs.

Data from the 2009-2010 school year show that,
during an average enrollment period of 91 days, Ombudsman students
nationwide advanced 1.5 grade levels in math application, 1.2 grade
levels in language mechanics, 1.2 grade levels in spelling, one grade
level in vocabulary, one grade level in math computation and nearly one
grade level in reading comprehension. Nationally, 85 percent of
Ombudsman students graduate, earn credits or return to their district
school closer to or at grade level.

“Ombudsman teachers guide
students to make positive choices about their academics and their
behaviors and empower students to be accountable for their learning,”
Claypool said. “Ombudsman’s customized academic programs and dedicated
social skills training and supports help students become successful and
prepared for life after high school. Ninety-four percent of students
surveyed said they believe Ombudsman will help them achieve their future
goals.”

ESA’s mission is to provide personalized, evidence-based
educational services for non-traditional learners in collaboration with
families and public school districts. To fulfill this mission, ESA
operates two strategic service divisions: Ombudsman Educational Services and Spectrum Center Schools and Programs,
which partners with public schools to provide individualized services
for students with challenging educational and behavioral needs such as
autism, emotional disturbance and developmental delay.

ESA
operates more than 140 schools and programs serving more than 240 school
districts in nearly 20 states. For more information, visit www.esa-education.com.

###

students and their families can learn more by coming to an Information
Day anytime between 10 a.m. and 7 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 9, in the Jones Room at the Casey Jones Old Country Store and Restaurant located at 56 Casey Jones Lane in Jackson.

Ombudsman is approved by the Tennessee
Department of Education as a “whole school reform model” provider, and
JMCSS is accessing federal Race to the Top monies to fund the program.

For Immediate Release

Jackson, Tenn. (Nov.23, 2010) Jackson-Madison County School System is partnering with Ombudsman Educational Services to create The Bridge Academy to help nontraditional learners graduate from high school.

Starting Jan. 4, 2011, 60 students from Liberty and Jackson Central
Merry high schools will attend The Bridge Academy because they prefer a
smaller class size and personalized instruction, require a flexible
schedule to meet family or work commitments or wish to recover credits
to graduate, Doris Battle, JMCSS deputy superintendent, said. Students
will attend one of two four-hour sessions and participate in
two-and-a-half hours of work-based learning through employment,
internships or community service daily. They will benefit from:

Small class size and personalized attention;

A customized academic plan created to meet their specific needs;

A
technology-rich environment that allows students to receive immediate
feedback and become familiar with tools they will use in college, trade
    or vocational school or the workplace;

Service learning and
volunteer projects that will help students explore careers, develop the
    skills required to secure a job and give back to their community;

Teacher-led learning activities and small group instruction to help students apply knowledge and enhance their social skills;

Focused, dedicated preparation for the state’s end-of-course tests; and

Greater accountability and improved academic results.

“Jackson-Madison
County School System understands that students learn differently. The
Bridge Academy operated by Ombudsman will help nontraditional students
graduate from high school, help improve the district’s graduation rate
and support our mission to prepare our students to become tomorrow’s
leaders,” Battle said.

Prospective students and their
families can learn more by coming to an Information Day anytime between
10 a.m. and 7 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 9, in the Jones Room at the Casey Jones Old Country Store and Restaurant located at 56 Casey Jones Lane in Jackson.

Ombudsman Educational Services is approved by the Tennessee Department of Education
as a “whole school reform model” provider, and JMCSS is accessing
federal Race to the Top monies to fund The Bridge Academy and improve
students’ academic outcomes, Battle said.

Ombudsman’s rigorous academic program is aligned with Tennessee standards and is accredited by AdvancED,
the unified organization of the North Central Association Commission on
Accreditation and School Improvement (NCA CASI) and the Southern
Association of Colleges and Schools Council on Accreditation and School
Improvement (SACS CASI), the organization that accredits Tennessee
schools.

Ombudsman students make significant academic
gains. Data from the 2009-2010 school year shows that Ombudsman students
nationwide advanced 1.5 grade levels in math application, 1.2 grade
levels in language mechanics, 1.2 grade levels in spelling, one grade
level in vocabulary, one grade level in math computation and nearly one
grade level in reading comprehension.

“Ombudsman partners
with school districts to provide students an alternate route to a high
school diploma,” Mark Claypool, Ombudsman president and CEO, said.
“Students receive one-on-one instruction from caring teachers who guide
and encourage them to make positive choices about their education.
Ombudsman helps students recognize their ability to learn and celebrate
their successes so they can achieve their academic and career goals.”

Nationally,
85 percent of Ombudsman students graduate, earn credits or return to
their district school closer to or at grade level. Ombudsman has served
more than 132,000 students since its founding in 1975 and partners with
more than 120 school districts in 18 states. For more information, visit

News Release: Students with Special Needs Celebrate New Law

Spectrum Center Students Thank Assembly Member for Support

Release Highlights:

Assembly
Member Joe Coto (D-San Jose) visited with Spectrum Center students to
celebrate the passage of the “Spectrum Law” (AB 1742), a law providing
equal access to technology-based learning materials for students with
special needs in nonpublic schools throughout the state.

Spectrum Center schools and programs serve students with a wide array of special needs.

Spectrum
Center students developed the idea for the law and advocated for it
during the recent legislative session. The legislation passed the
Assembly and the Senate and was signed by Gov. Schwarzenegger. It takes
    effect Jan. 1, 2011.

Students shared photos, videos and
PowerPoint presentations with Assembly Member Coto, demonstrating the
impact of technology in education, and they received a framed copy of
the law signed by the governor.

SAN JOSE, Calif. (Nov. 17, 2010) – Spectrum Center students hosted Assembly Member Joe Coto (D-San Jose) and guests to celebrate the signing of the “Spectrum Law” (AB 1742),
which was initiated by Spectrum students who have special needs and
provides all California students who have special needs equal access to
technology-based learning materials in the classroom.

Assembly
Member Coto, who is a former public school teacher and superintendent,
met with Spectrum students, staff and parents to see how access to new
technologies will help students advance academically and in daily life.
Students presented photos, videos and PowerPoint presentations
showcasing their use of technology in the classroom and its impact on
education.

“We are delighted the Spectrum bill has passed and
that students with special needs can now have access to the kind of
technology that will help them advance academically," Coto, a former
public school teacher and superintendent, said when he visited the
school recently. “It is both fair and vital that students with special
needs who attend California nonpublic schools have access to the same
resources as their peers. As a leader in special education, Spectrum Center and its students should be congratulated for advocating on behalf of all students in California."

Spectrum
students developed the idea for the law after they visited the state
capitol last November and learned how laws are developed. One of the
students said, “You mean someone like me could create a bill that could
become a law that would help other people like me?” The students’ idea
about equal access to technology was developed into formal legislation
that Spectrum Center students in classrooms throughout the state decided
to introduce and support.

The students worked with Assembly
Member Coto, who authored AB 1742, and personally advocated for the bill
in both houses of the Legislature. They met with key staff and Members
of the Education Committee, and they wrote letters and created videos to
express their support of the bill and describe the personal impact the
bill will have on their lives. The bill passed the state Assembly (76-0)
and the Senate (34-0) with unanimous bipartisan support. The bill was signed into law by Gov. Schwarzenegger in August and will take effect Jan. 1, 2011. Students received a framed copy of the bill signed by the governor.

The new law, which is supported by the California State PTA, California Association of Private Special Education Schools and the California Alliance of Child and Family Services,
provides an opportunity for nonpublic, nonsectarian schools to
incorporate the use of technology when customizing teaching strategies
and curriculum for students with special needs such as autism spectrum
disorders, pervasive developmental disorders and developmental delays.
In other states, technology-based learning tools have been shown to help
students learn skills for use in future jobs and in independent living.

Spectrum Center’s
state-certified nonpublic schools and public school integrated
collaborative classrooms provide special education services to students
ages five to 22 with a wide array of special needs, such as autism
spectrum disorders (ASD), developmental delays, behavioral challenges,
pervasive developmental disorders (PDD) and emotional disturbance.

###

Resource Links

AB 1742 Bill timeline

News release: Students with Special Needs Take Step Toward Equal Access to Technology (Aug. 23, 2010)

News
