Using solar panels as a means for providing power for our projects? You bet we do.

Here at eSavannah, we like to stay on top of “what’s next” in the realm of technology. One of my favorite aspects of technology is that it can be used to help us establish a cleaner and healthier environment: enter Photovoltaic Cell Panels, also known as Solar Panels.

Photovoltaics is a method of generating electricity by converting solar radiation into direct current electricity using semiconductors. Photovoltaic power generation uses solar panels comprising a number of cells containing a photovoltaic material. Materials presently used for photovoltaics include monocrystalline silicon, polycrystalline silicon, amorphous silicon, cadmium telluride, and copper indium selenide/sulfide. The growing demand for renewable energy sources is abundant and the manufacturing of solar cells and photovoltaic arrays has advanced considerably in recent years.

One may ask, “So where does eSavannah come into play?”

eSavannah has several projects in which we have deployed such solar arrays to provide sustainable power to video cameras, remote field sensors, Wi-Fi radios, and much more. The future of renewable electricity will soon be on our roof top providing power to our network, giving eSavannah the winning edge when the rest of the city has lost power. Stay tuned for more information on eSavannah projects deploying this awesome technology!

eSavannah helps Geekend 2010 prepare for the invasion with a custom-built wireless Internet solution.

A full weekned of the brightest geeks, designers, artists, social media mavericks and forward thinking entrepreneurs? Yeah, we’re totally there. And you should be, too!

For the second annual Geekend the gang asked us to whip up another of our tailor-made wireless Internet marvels. Really, how could we say no? (Spoiler Alert: We didn’t.) We’ll be blanketing the festivities with pure, unadulterated wireless Internet for all your Facebook, Twitter, and blogging needs.

Geekend 2009 was a blast, and we’re excited to see what the Geekend gang has put together this year. Word has it our very own Scott Cudney will be participating in a panel with Kevin Lawver of Music Intelligence Solutions and David Malouf of SCAD.

For more info for the tech wizardry behind our wireless Internet, be sure to drop us a line. Geekend 2010 information and tickets can be found at http://geekend2010.com.
