In celebration of the 32nd running of this popular Bern event on the 18th, we are offering a pasta buffet with different sauces. The food will be prepared by our own committee member, Chris P., who is a professional chef! It’s only 10 CHF and available from club opening until the food runs out. So come early for dinner and fun!!!

The Dutch Queen, that is…Join us for an historic event for the Dutch as Queen Beatrix is stepping down on April 30^th in favor of her eldest son. From now on there will be a King’s Day celebration. The theme of the evening is ORANGE! There is bound to be some Dutch drinks as well.

If you’re showing the some Orange, you’ll get your first Dutch beer free!

According to our constitution we are going to hold the Annual General meeting. It will take place at the English Speaking Club of Bern on November 16th (Friday) at 9:00 pm. All members are welcome to attend the meeting whereas only Premium members do have the right to vote. You either have to be present or you can vote in advance via postal mail. Please consult the constitution on www.englishclub.ch for further information. If you are interested in joining the committee please contact us. We are always looking for interested people.

Saturday, August 18th – The Annual BBQ Party

If the weather cooperates we will be in Bümpliz again for our annual grill party. No reservation required, just stop by with something to grill, the trimmings and your own drinks. There are often people sharing extra food though.

The schedule is as follows:

Enjoy the afternoon with games starting at 15:00
(Feel free to bring a game or two!)
Grilling starts at 17:00 and ends at 19:30
Party ends at 21:30 (some clean up is involved)
Directly afterwards, head to the Chilbi (see below*)

How to get there: By car, there is blue zone parking all along Mädergutstrasse toward #91. At the end there is a turn around area and the BBQ place is just beyond that through a gate in a large chain-link fence. There is plenty of grass and picnic tables are available to set up.

By public transportation, take the #7 tram directionBümpliz, exiting at the end station. The BBQ place is practically next to the tram stop – just walk around the left side to follow the fence to the gate. Hint: plug in Mädergutstrasse 91, Bümpliz into Google maps. In satellite view, the fenced area between the high-rise building (#91) and the red tram is the BBQ area. The gate is near the small, yellow cabin in front of the parked cars in the turn-around area of Mädergutstrasse.

*Afterwards: A group always goes to the famous local carnival, the Bümplizer Chilbi, which is the largest in the Kanton of Bern. So plan to come along too!
