esd frequent flyers take flight for the Air Force

The mission was simple: shoot video interviews and b-roll with people about travel. Our orders, issued by the U.S. Air Force, instructed us to fly across the country gathering stories and breath-taking images to promote Information, Tickets and Travel (ITT), a travel service for Air Force personnel and families.

From sunny Cocoa Beach, Florida with its cruise ships and space shuttles to crisp Colorado and majestic Pike’s Peak, the esd team traveled from state to state, talking to people about their experiences. We took some behind-the-scenes footage to share with you.

esd social media strategies attract viral endorsement

@wxprobrian (right) and blogger/tweeter friends share their Smashburger experience with the world.

Tweets and tasty eats were served up hot at the #smashburgersa V.I.P. Tweetup on January 21. Some 40 San Antonio tweeps blogged and tweeted messages and photos while sampling Smashburgers, Smashfries and Häagen-Dazs shakes at the newest location at Potranco and State Highway 151.

The esd&associates Public Relations team works with the @smashburgersa partners opening new stores and hosting V.I.P. events creating new store buzz with social media networking and visibility for the existing stores. Since implementing the social media plan @smashburgersa followers on Twitter have increased 139 percent.

AirLIFE recently initiated Guardian Angel, a membership program that could save many families a large bill when they need AirLIFE services. With strategies, design and production from esd&associates, AirLIFE has launched an integrated campaign that puts Guardian Angel’s message on billboards, direct mail announcements, a dedicated website, response brochures and social media. Public relations campaign strategies will carry the message through news media reaching AirLIFE’s coverage area across South Texas.

esd embarks on BMI challenge

Inspired by one of our client-partners, the esd team has embarked on a fitness challenge. Each team member has entered into a competition to see which of us can improve our BMI the most over the usually fattening holiday festivity season.

Soon after Thanksgiving, fitness guru Jim Fiore came to the esd office and gave a seminar on healthy living. We were weighed and had our individual BMI score recorded. Everyone is watching what we eat and increasing our activity levels.

At the end of the competition (late January), the winners in the male and female categories will split the pot – a cash prize. But the real victory will come from a healthier team serving our client partners. Watch this space for the results!

Smashburger opening has a Great Day

Smashburger opened its Bandera Pointe location this weekend with an all-day VIP preview on Thursday featuring local food bloggers, Operation Homefront wounded warriors and other dignitaries, followed by a sweet segment on KENS-TV’s Great Day San Antonio. The fast casual dining restaurant, based in Denver, is making a big splash in San Antonio.

OCA adds North River neighborhood tour

The San Antonio Office of Cultural Affairs unveiled the full Neighborhood Tours website today, adding the Downtown North River neighborhood to the East Side and West Side tours they published earlier this year. The new section travels up the Riverwalk through the San Antonio Museum of Art, Pearl Brewery and Brackenridge Park, all the way to the “Blue Hole” at the source of the San Antonio River on the University of Incarnate Word campus. There are many stories along the way, and excellent artworks, with profiles of fascinating people and great places to eat. Highly recommended for all who love our city.

City launches online neighborhood tours

Beyond the River Walk and the Alamo, what do people know about San Antonio? Do they know about Ray’s Drive In? Do they know Elemendorf Lake? The Founding Mothers Mural? Do you?

Whether you’re an overnight visitor or a life-long resident, you want to know the soul of a city. You want to see its renowned landmarks and attractions, but you want to know the real community underneath. esd&associates has just helped San Antonio’s Office of Cultural Affairs open our unique city’s heart to the world.

San Antonio Neighborhood Tours has launched with easy-to-navigate guides of the food, arts, people, landmarks and shopping in the Eastside and Westside neighborhoods (the Broadway Corridor is coming soon). Visitors to the website can take a step-by-step “tour” of each neighborhood, or go directly to one of the categories for a directory of specific sites. esd also helped the Office of Cultural Affairs produce printable Acrobat files for each neighborhood tour.

The tours show some of San Antonio’s best attributes, from the funky to the sublime. We’ve lived here for decades – many of the people on the esd team are native San Antonians, yet the site opened our eyes to many corners of our hometown’s culture we never noticed.
