The award winning country music group Montgomery Gentry will be in Niagara Falls on September 4^th.

The Seneca Niagara Casino & Hotel Center will be the hosting venue for this amazing concert.  Montgomery Gentry has won multiple awards from the American Music Awards and the Country Music Association.

According to the American Heritage Dictionary, the definition of a sport is: a physical activity that is governed by a set of rules or customs and often engaged in competitively.  So why are cheerleaders still fighting for respect?

She Certainly Believes Cheerleading Is A Sport

Recent developments from Quinnipiac University, located in Connecticut have brought this debate to the forefront of public opinion.  U.S. District Judge Stefan Underhill ruled that cheerleading was too “underdeveloped” to be considered a college sport.  This court case came about when the university wanted to scrap their volleyball program, and institute a cheerleading squad to take its place.  The whole purpose was to fit under Title IX rules.

Even though cheerleading won’t be considered a varsity sport anytime soon, it is however one of the most dangerous sports.  High School cheerleading has accounted for 65% of all major female sports injuries over the past 25 years.  But even though those statistics seem grim, technology has improved over the past 25 years to help the injured recover faster.

No matter what side of the debate you fall on, cheerleading has produced some pretty famous celebrities and athletes.  So even if it’s not considered a true sport, it can be a launching pad for greater things.

Located on Humboldt Parkway, the museum is open Monday through Sunday, 10am to 4pm.  And there are several exhibits that are fit for the young (Dinosaurs & Co.) and the old (Beerology).

The age of computers is in full swing, and it seems like every thing nowadays revolves around our electronic machines.  Employment sometimes hinges on a person’s ability to use certain computer programs.  And there is no program bigger than Adobe.

The products created by Adobe range from Photoshop for images, to Audition for audio tracks.  There are plenty of different uses for the company’s items but before you can utilize them, you must first learn the ins & outs.

There will be a full fledged Adobe Photoshop training class in Rochester on Monday, August 23^rd.  With your enrollment in such a class, you will become an Adobe Certified Expert (ACE), which will help open up many more doors for you.  Whether you are looking for new employment or a promotion, your new status will come in handy.

Buffalo Bills 2010

We are heading into the second week of the NFL’s Preseason Schedule, and things seem to already be going the wrong way.

Our beloved Buffalo Bills took the field against the Washington Redskins last week, and unfortunately received a 42-17 loss.  That’s not the only negative to come from this preseason contest.  Marshawn Lynch and Fred Jackson both received injuries during the game, and that leaves the starting running back position in limbo.  Steps in the rookie C.J. Spiller, ready to take over the #1 spot.

This season will be Coach Chan Gailey’s first in the red & blue, so we are hoping for a step in the right direction.  The Buffalo Bills will finish the preseason with upcoming games against the Indianapolis Colts, Cincinnati Bengals and Detroit Lions.  First game of the regular season is September 12^th against the Miami Dolphin, and we want all of the support we can get for our hometown team!

Legendary rock band Foreigner will be in Buffalo on Tuesday August 17^th.  Performing such hits like “Juke Box Hero”, “I Want To Know What Love Is” and “Cold As Ice”, it is going to be a once in a lifetime experience.

For those of you who aren’t familiar with Foreigner:

• A rock band formed in New York City in 1976 by veteran musicians Mick Jones and ex-King Crimson member Ian McDonald, along with then-unknown vocalist Lou Gramm (Louis Grammatico). Foreigner has sold more than 50 million albums worldwide (including over 37.5 million in the United States alone).

This concert goes down August 17^th at ArtPark.  Admission is free, so don’t hesitate to come out and join the party!  If you are curious about other future concerts in the Buffalo area, Eventful is a great resource for upcoming events.

The NFL Season is upon us once again.  The preseason kicked off with The Hall of Fame Game between the Cincinnati Bengals and Dallas Cowboys.

The Buffalo Bills Are Ready For 2010!

Our hometown Buffalo Bills will get their chance to show off their 2010 upgrades on Friday August 13^th.  The Bills will face off against another team who will look to bounce back, the Washington Redskins.  Donovan McNabb and Mike Shanahan will host the game at FedEx Field.

Buffalo hopes to improve this year, and increase their win total.  Last year the Bills finished 6-10, and that final record allowed for a high draft pick.  With the #9 pick in last season’s NFL Draft, the Bills selected Clemson running back C.J. Spiller.  Spiller was the last rookie to sign contract, but he is ready to begin his 2010 season now.

Hopefully with the addition of Spiller, and new coach Chan Gailey, we can set our sights on the playoffs once again.

2nd Annual Outdoor Film Series on Buffalo's Campus

Summer still has a couple weeks left, and that means that there will still be free movies being show on The University of Buffalo’s campus.  Every Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday there will be a popular films being shown.  Past movies shown include Shutter Island, Toy Story 1 & 2, How To Train Your Dragon and Hot Tub Time Machine.

In the coming weeks, Date Night starring Steve Carrell and Tina Fey will be playing.  And the Outdoor Summer Films Series will end with Iron Man 2 on the week of August 17^th.   UB’s Undergraduate Student Association, in conjunction with Late Night UB and the Office of Community Relations is presenting our 2nd Annual Outdoor Film Series.  Films are shown on the North Campus lawn on Tuesdays & Friday and on South Campus on Wednesdays.  All films will begin after sundown, so you will have time to relax before heading to campus.  This week’s movie will be Youth In Revolt, with Michael Cera, showing Friday night, August 6^th.

There’s nothing like a good steak.  No matter the cut of steak, there’s just something about a sizzling hunk of meat sitting on your plate.  And before you yell through the computer at me about how unhealthy it is, there are ways to make your steak healthier .

Man Vs. Food Visits The Riverstone Grill in Grand Island, NY

Nonetheless, steaks are as American as apple pie, baseball and political debates.  Adam Richman, of the popular Travel Channel show Man vs. Food, has filmed a segment in Grand Island, NY at The Riverstone Grill.  The Executive Chef at this establishment is Chaz Bulera.  You’ll enjoy his world class dishes at hometown prices.  If you ever get the chance, you should definitely check out the chef’s specialty, The Bone in the Stone.

That’s the challenge that Adam Richman filmed during his stay in the Grand Island/Buffalo area.  The Bone in the Stone is a 48oz. rib-eye steak entrée’, that is accompanied by sautéed onions and a plate full of waffle fries.  The results of the challenge won’t be known until the new season of Man vs. Food airs this fall.  Richman is in Buffalo following a trip to Syracuse where he stopped at a local diner called “Mother’s Cupboard“, a hot dog joint called “Heid’s” and the infamous BBQ hot-spot “Dinosaur Barbeque“.
