I've been busy popping up all over Winchester for the past few weeks, hand drawing Christmas window illustrations for various shops and restaurants. Each year I add a few more businesses to my list. This year they included Thai, Japanese and Indian restaurants which made for some interesting research trying to integrate cultural icons with Western christmas images/themes! If you have a local business and would be interested in commissioning a unique window design to attract customers in 2015 please do get in touch, I'm always keen to tackle a new challenge...

Soldiers' Journey Mural at SeaCity Museum

I was delighted to receive a commission from Hampshire County Council to draw the murals now exhibiting at SeaCity Museum, Southampton. These large-scale illustrations form part of HCC's Soldiers' Journey Exhibition, a county-wide commemoration of Hampshire's role in World War I. I have worked on several smaller-scale publications and images for the exhibition as well and these are on display at various museums and galleries across the county.

The giraffe who went to NYC

A while ago, I created an almost life size drawing of a giraffe as part of my stand at Tent London (well, if I'm honest it was a compilation of my daughter's then favourite things: giraffes, the Pat-a-Cake rhyme and trees). The piece was obviously pretty big and so it was difficult to find a suitable place to store him in my studio (even after a huge clear out and reorganisation!).

'Soldiers' Journey: from home to war 1914-18'

I'm delighted to have been asked to illustrate Hampshire County Council's travelling exhibition 'Soldiers' Journey: from home to war 1914-18' which is on show at the Milestones Museum, Basingstoke until 11 January 2015 (www3.hants.gov.uk/milestones/). It forms part of 'Hampshire's Big Theme', a series of exhibitions marking the centenary of the First World War, and invites families to travel back in time with Tom and Emily to the streets of war time Hampshire where they can help solve the mystery of a German spy, befriend a war horse and meet soldiers from across the world.

I love doing wedding commissions and so it was an absolute pleasure to be asked by one of my long established clients to design stationery for her forthcoming wedding, beginning with a 'Save the Date' card. Having undertaken many bespoke illustration orders for this client in the past, I knew we would be able to come up with designs that reflected the uniqueness of the occasion as well as the couple's personalities. The wedding took place at Dewsall Hall in Heredfordshire, a beautiful location and a gift in terms of illustration!

5AM are doing some work with Aspex gallery to collaborate as part of an exhibition there called 8th space, were all showing our work and collaborating by making a short stop motion film of what were doing in the 8th space provided by Aspex to work collaboratively... some pics of my work so far the first of us to work there..

It's not too late to book onto one of my Xmas workshops, I still have coming up a "Making up-cycling advent calendars" at Aspex gallery in Portsmouth on Tues 26th Nov (eve) or "Recycling for Christmas" at the Watts Gallery in Guilford on December 14th.
Both are looking like they will be lots of fun, I've been sourcing fab Xmassy stuff to be up-cycled into your soon to be favorite Xmas decorations or much loved family advent calendars.. Please join us!
